1. I'm guessing the site owners are making tweaks but there's now no indication of new posts added to threads. Didn't there used to be a little indicator when new posts had been added?
2. Seemed to be genuine malware infecting the site.
3. Had an e-mail exchange with site admin (I wasn't going to risk ignoring the warning and accessing the site). Seems the admins were aware of the issue and spent most of yesterday working to resolve it. Looks like it's sorted now as no warnings anymore.
4.
Don't ever make the mistake of listening too much to punter's opinions on music. Over 34 years I've found them woefully lacking in knowledge. 90% at least wouldn't know a wrong note from a kick in the nads. The truth is - they want to be you , and you can't go back to being them. You know yourself when you're happy with your performance and playing - learn to trust that.
Wise words indeed Doc. Cheers
5. In this position at the moment learning a shed load of covers for a burgeoning classic rock band. Generally I try to get it as the original but some stuff is just not possible but I know someone will come up to me after a gig and say "you didn't quite get that bassline right"
6. Been tasked with learning Disturbed's version of Shout by Tears for Fears. Not too difficult a song to learn but would like to see a video of this version. Can anyone point me to a vid?
7. So would it be more reasonable to say that Jaco = Hendrix but Graham = Les Paul? Both Graham and Les Paul established the instrument in terms of influencing future players but Hendrix like Jaco pushed the envelope of what could be done with electric guitars?
8. Today's Sunday Times culture section has an article on Larry Graham claiming that "he did for electric bass what Jimi Hendrix did for electric guitar". Well did he? Full article here http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/culture/music/pop_and_rock/article1155278.ece
9.
Has anyone fitted a de-tuner to their Bb? I'd like the easy "d" option on my 614 but I wouldn't know what to buy...
Have a Hipshot D-tuner fitted to my BB1100S
10. Has anybody mentioned Mike Rutherford yet? Always thought those early Genesis albums had great bass playing. Went to see Regenesis the other night and judging by the effort the bass player was putting in they look pretty tough to play too
11.
Nick Beggs is a fantastic bass player who sometimes doesn't get the respect he deserves because he was once in a band with a silly name ( Kajagoogoo).
+1. Saw him with Steve Hackett and have the EBH album. Really great bass player.
12. Love my BB1100S. Was sorry to part with it in the early 90's, got it back for my 50th birthday last year. I won't part with it again. Not only a great bass but lots of great memories too.
13. La Futura - ZZ Top. Great new album but a little on the short side (less than 40mins I think) when compared to...... Joy Through Amplification - Bill Nelson - in anticipation of N12 tomorrow (must be well over an hours worth of music here). Wrong - Nomeansno - of to the gig next week so need to reaquaint myself. Awesome stuff.
14. As a bassist today has been sh*t. I've been at the day job. It was redeemed slightly by listening to nomeansno on the way home (just over a week to go)
15. Still got my old Trantec system which works perfectly even after around 23 years. Get one they're really good

Not sure who the old bloke in the Armani overcoat and pork pie hat is though
18. Nice photo. Got my ticket, really looking forward to seeing them again
19.
The gorgeous Carrie Grant. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Carrie_Grant
As I pointed out on the other thread. Totally gorgeous
20.
Sorry read this as Aled Jones ( top bit of totty ) and was about to say he has let himself go a bit these days so not any longer!
Ha, yes I was thinking this even as I typed .
21.
tempting, but then i'd have to watch 'the one show'
Now I don't mind tuning in to the one show if only for a few minutes. It's good to get a daily fix of Alex Jones (top bit of totty) and Carrie Grant is a very foxy cougar. Mr. Grant's a lucky guy cuddling up to her every night
22. That was pretty good wasn't it. Great sound and a great player.
23.
You male chauvinist pig! It's a nice rack on the conga player.
conga, schmonga
