1. Agree with the Rush comment we're also doing In The Mood with female lead vocal.
2. My daughter does a rather good version Houses of the Holy and also Good Lovin' Gone Bad. How about Heart's Barracuda?
3.
Guitar shops in Liverpool are poop. Especially for bass. You could try Moran sound.
Gateacre is quite close to home but not convenient during normal office hours and their opening times seem a bit eclectic to say the least. Whilst they are " the oldest music shop" in Liverpool I've no reason to suspect they are any better stockwise So this thread is over - I'm off to Stringbusters .
4.
Why? It's not like you can try strings out. Stringbusters will usually deliver within two days. They are very good indeed.
I'm just an old fashioned guy
5. Well thanks chaps. I guess it was the Stringbusters thread that compelled me to create this thread. I'd really like to be able to walk in to my local music store and buy what I need but sadly I can't and it's so disappointing. Rushworths, Hesseys even Micro Music on Smithdown Road were worth a punt back in the day. And my typing is getting worse - 2 edits to correct typos
6. Can't be done............. I'm a Rotosound kinda guy really like them and used them for donkey's. Can you buy a 5 string set in the centre of Liverpool? Can you buggery. Curly Music - yes mate there you go! (me) Er that's a 4 string set. (CM) Oh sorry, nah we've not got any 5 string sets but we'll be getting some in soon. Dawson's - Rotosound? Ooooh, erm, sorry no got some D'Addario. Guess I'm just going to have to boil them (again) Edited - so waht do others do especially any 5 stringers in the Pool?
7.
I have a Top Bone. And Top Nuts actually

I've heard....
I've heard not actually
8. Manchester gig was excellent. A real nostalgia trip. Low points - no Caroline of Softer Ride but plenty of good stuff though.
9. Just watching it now on BBC4. An interesting project and worth doing IMV. Quite liking I Am Kloot's version of Chains. BTW the bassist with the Foremost doing Boys was Billy Kinsley (but I could be mistaken).
10. ...........back in Van Halen. Do you want it? Will it happen? I'd love it and for them to play in UK but I don't think it will happen.
11. Cripes but he doesn't look well in that picture Actually a great paragraph about having all the leters of the alphabet and listening to all genres thereby being ab le to write new words - the bible and pornography use the same letters. I paraphrase of course but I laughed out loud when I read it and it is all true. Also intersting comment re: Michael Anthony. I'm guessing EVH won't be totally comfortable with a lot of this stiff. Would love VH to gig in UK again and would happily chuck a shed load of money in to a ticket to see em.
12.
Indeed. Two others. A Wenge of bassists. A Delusion of bassists.
FIFY
13. A Ball End of Bassists (got to get some alliteration in there)
14.
Probably too tight on deadlines. Depends how/where they are printed but sometimes the next issue is all put to bed (apart from the odd small adjustment up front) by the time the first issue appears. This would shunt it back another issue.
This. I would expect the next couple of issues to be sorted already. I'm sure it'll appear in due course.
15. Kay P bass? Had one of these around 1979/80 - my first bass.
16. Never done it but if it was my wedding I'd want to be enjoying the full wedding experience, ceremony, meeting and greeting, circulating a few drinks etc, etc, etc, . So how about getting a dep and just getting up for a couple of numbers rather than doing a full stint?
17. It's called age mate . The stuff we grew up with and that resonates with our lives is "always inferior to" what comes along now - cue Hovis advert music
18. Listening to Steve Hackett's Genesis Revisited 2. Love the guitar work and the songs but I'm struggling to like the singers and I don't think that the songs from The Lamb work out of context and track order from the original.
19. Saga are a great bad as far as I am concerned. Sorry you don't like them Dingus. Still Canadian but not much facial hair. :-)
20.
There was a song done by the band Saga called 'Amnesia' and it had this spoken quote in the middle of it that bugged me for ages trying to work out where it was from and that I'd heard it in my childhood. Turned out it was from the maid in the Tom & Jerry cartoons!
Ah yes: " it says here that a sharp blow on the head is a sure cure for amnesia; and that's what he's gonna get". I think it's called Nit Witty Kitty
21.
The Audi is a much nicer car IMO, and after a stage 1 remap it'll match the Cayenne performance anyway!
And drop to sub 20 mpg
22. Generally by concensus but the guitarist suggested most of our set list. I'm quite happy to try most things though.
23.
Some folks go one step further than just a drink or two...
Always wondered why his side project was called Waysted !-)
