1. Can someone please translate? Have you a BC price for these or is this a nudge to your eBay ad only?
2. You will be nervous, which is an odd feeling for a bloke in his 40/50s so don`t babble. When I`m nervous I tend to over agree with someone and jump in to show them I understand, try to avoid that. Take only what you need,if you take spares, leave them in the car. Remember that you are auditioning them just as much as they are you, so let them do the babbling! If you are prepared,in tune and competent then you have the advantage and shouldn`t need to over do it. Less is definitely best IMO. They`ll be happier taking on someone who needs a little time to fit in than someone who comes across as a know it all. I had my first musical audition 3 months ago and I took too much gear, arrived a bit too early, expected them to know the tunes as well as me if not more,(they didn`t) and was suprised it only lasted 30 minutes. I babbled in an attempt to express my enthusiasm and musical knowledge. Luckily I got the gig and still have it despite that. Good luck
3. Or an Ashdown 4x8. I`m very impressed with mine.
4. Left a double bass at a gig. Was in a bright orange padded bag..
5. ah sh*t, I was trying to post a clip of 4 lions "follow your heart bro, listen to what your heart tells you" and ended up watching all the clips and pissing meself again. If the band is negatively affectiing your state of mind, tis better to leave now so you may replenish your enthusiasm for all things bass (except 5er dingwalls) and arise from the ashes of this like a Phoenix resplendent. You don`t want to be waiting in the queue of life Bro, you want to be on the rides, Rubber dinghy rapids!
6. So, it`s quite obvious that people who think they are making state of the art instruments for the discerning ultra muso, are in fact old hippies with f*** all left to do to justify their outdated belief system than to collect driftwood from a beach in Goa and add loads of crap hardware to it and claim it`s a dragon bass. I mean. f*** the f*** off. Where`s the technological breakthroughs, the gleaming carbon finish, the self tuning temperature sensing tone adjusting variable scale super bass? Damn hippies can`t be trusted. Get Steve jobs on it. Ahh sh*t.
7. Hiya Steve, hows it going? As far as 500 watts goes, I think you can safely ignore that as manufacturers hyperbole. It may handle 500 watts but only for short peaks and not continuous level. However, watts aren`t everything and a sensitive 200 watts (speaker that is, not like it sulks when you play a Take That tune)can produce plenty of volume in the right cabinet.Especially the 2x8. So I`d suggest trying one out in person before you buy.
8. All of theses basses look like something Bilbo Baggins might play bass solo versions of stairway to heaven on. Dreadful. That is all. IMO
9. "oh... I forgot the powerpack to this keyboard" This at 1.45,reh started at 1.00 he arrived at 1.30. Me,don`t you have a spare? "no, I`ll have to go get it"... Returns at 2.05 finishes setting up by 2.15,has to be dissuaded from going out to get some food. Gets a phone call at 3.00 "ohh, sh~~ I forgot I have to pick my son up from school, gotta go, good rehearsals!" A not rare occurrence
10. Great band, not seen any dots. Tried youtube?

12.
I don't really understand this thread. If you think some of your band mates are numpties, then why are you playing in a band with them? Shame on them for being idiots. Shame on you too for putting up with it.
Because.. it`s so difficult getting over the initial setup and integration of a bunch of musos that it always seems easier to try and "improve" what you have rather than start afresh with another possible numpty. There is almost always a weak member in every band. I`m guilty, I think the keys player is a lazy ignorant sloth who thinks he`s a decent quality session player and so doesn`t need to waste his time actually learning anything.. He never knows the tunes, has admitted he wont spare time to learn the songs outside of rehearsals, and doesn`t know how his kit works. When he doesn`t know the part/song, he busks on a piano sound in a "house" style, filling all possible gaps with clutter. But, the drummer and singer are excellent, they have regular work and I`m working on improving the keys setup via midi/proper patches and gentle hints about multi layering etc. So it`s a work in progress which to my mind is better than scanning the joinmyband ads every day looking for the perfect situation.
13. Ian just bought a case from me and was spot on all through the deal, even when I forgot I was supposed to drop it off! Great comms and cash on the dot. Deal with confidence. MM
14. Hiya Sid. This probably won`t sell unless you display a few pics mate.
15. Gaga is going Maddonna route 1,and it`s working well. I think JJ will be around for a bit, given her talents and obvious promotional expertise. Her next Lp will deliver the killer blow with a couple of massive hits and establish her as a major British artist. People wrote Adele off a couple of years ago as a one dimensional Duffy/Winehouse wannabe. I think it`s safe to say they were wrong.
16. I like that. Ode to Slackerism!
17. Davy, just one point, does this unit come with the power supply? The stores seem to be selling them without a supply, which is £20 on top of an average price of £170=what you paid However the ads don`t mention it so the list price looks like £165 which makes your unit look overpriced. Just thought it might make your unit more competitive if you mentioned this in your post. Regards Dave
18. The band playing with JJ are NOT what the kids are buying. If you had a completely different band it would make no difference to her sales. It`s a great band and I can`t see how she could do better, but that`s just not the point. I haven`t heard her Lp but I`m assuming that most of it is dependant on the skills of the programmer/producer rather than any musicians so again, that`s not what "der kids" are buying. Point of sales focus is a young sassy nubile female singer, well presented promotionally. The band is irrelevant to any of that. In my opinion, of course. Maybe if you find an example of a 45 year old solo artist with a young band selling to the 20 year old market you might convince me
19. sigh Slid I`m not sure I can be arsed with you today. I`m in quite a good mood. Tell you what, I`ll settle for a " In my opinion" which I thought I`d already made clear. Then none of it has to be true.
20. "Making it" is a meaningless term unless you can define it more precisely, but you can`t because it has a different face for everyone. Also, a 40something musician in an originals band aimed at selling music to 20 year olds will certainly struggle as image is a massive part of why 20 year olds buy anything, but if you are aiming to sell to 35 to 60 year olds then you are prime. Jazz and blues musicians don`t seem to get any respect till they hit 50 anyway... The upper age of music consumption has in my opinion massively expanded and along with fashionable clothes is enjoyed by people who 20 years ago would be in zip up boots and furry hats with a tartan food trolley listening to radio 2. In Bournemouth. Garbage had the benefit of Butch Vig`s considerable production expertise from his work with Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana and by making Shirley Manson the focal point of their promotion in very bling and wacky videos convinced youngsters they were cool enough for school. It also helped that he`s married to a Dreamworks A+R executive. My definition of "making it" is to earn enough income from musical activities to support myself without too much hassle from the powers that be. I consider there to be no age limit on that.

Just bought Martins Ashdown 48 airfix kit complete with decals and extra humbrol dark olive. Excellent value, lovely coffee and a smashing trolley chucked in. A man of his word. Thanks Martin
22. Welcome.Dave the funky shoulder monkey.
23. Yep, mine has a guitar mode and a bass mode. I suppose the guitar mode would work as well. Flat mode yes. I only use the clip tuner for my second bass which is tuned down to E flat. It doesn`t tell me what note I`m playing, just what string so I can`t leave it in normal tuning and calculate from there.Nor do I want to be working it out between songs. So if I can find one I can setup to that tuning then great. otherwise I`ll do both basses on the GT6 tuner.
