1. Same experience as most, really - Wunjo were the only folks worth visiting, it seemed. The difference was, I was actually looking to get hold of a run-of-the-mill P-Bass, rather than anything obscure! The guys at Wunjo were the only ones who took the time to sit with me, explain all the tiny differences in all the models and let me jam on them for at least an hour. When I went in they also had a couple of nice Markbass heads and speakers - particularly the TTE500, which has been tempting me for a while. No complaints! Everywhere else on Denmark Street left me feeling pressured to 'just play it and go!', and the range of basses available was awful. Seeing as I'm a northerner, for my sins, my 'go-to' is PMT, in Manchester. Will have to check out Bass Direct though!
2. Ahhhh, I get you man! Less is more. Sweet.
3. Awesome, that's great man. So arpeggiated chords with some notes of the scale thrown in stepwise are ok?
4. Hi all - wondering if you guys could help me with some basic stuff. I'm typically into my soul/funk style bass playing, and feel comfortable doing grooves in many tempos with passing notes and fills and the like. Thing is, my current band have decided to do a reprise of a chorus in a reggae style; at which point I realised I have NO experience of playing/listening to reggae at all! If anyone could show me any good tracks for bass in reggae music, or tell me the typical DO's/DON'Ts in that style of bass playing, or even direct me to some videos of typical grooves/patterns, that'd be awesome! Cheers! Daaave.

6.
Welcome to the forum mate! Just around the corner from you at RNCM. Brass player? What do you play?
Ahah, just got back from there! I'm a euph player, for my sins. Currently the only undergrad one at Salford!
7. Hi all! Brass player come bassist originally from Derbyshire - studying for my Ba in Music at Salford Uni currently. Been playing bass for about 3 years, and loved every minute of it! I use a Yamaha RBX5A2 with a 400watt 1978 Peavey Mark III Series amp and an unknown 4x10 speaker. Played a fair few genres, including a 60's-style cover band, a funk trio, big bands and more recently, an alternative rock quintet. I eventually want to be in a dedicated prog rock band, with bands like Genesis, Rush, Big Big Train, Yes and Dream Theater making me want to pick up bass in the first place! Looking forward to geeking out with y'all.
