1. Never take advice from an internet forum...
2. Aah crap. I want one
3. How are you finding the J retro with the Wizards?
4. Orys, don`t be offended. I`ve worked all over Eastern Europe over the past 15 years and seen a lot of great bands, but on the whole, the jazz and folk stuff was best. I can`t honestly say I like Polish punk rock or Slovenian funk very much, it just doesn`t do it for me.Partly because I have no idea what the song might be about. I think that their time will come, because for me it`s all about context and reference, and that`s why I think Americans dominate the scene, because everybody has a good idea about American lifestyles and can identify with it.And so understand the references American musicians make. When those in the west are more familiar with Eastern European sensibilities, then the music will be in the vanguard. MM
5. Well, I wanted a nice new nut is all! But I spose it doesn`t matter so long as it`s working so yes, I `ll try some kind of spacer. Seems a shame to waste a nice slim neck. ta.
6. Yes, I can measure it, but how will that help unless the parts I`m looking at also have measurements? Should I be looking at allparts ?
7. Hello all, I have a Korean Squier jazz neck which the headstock code suggests was made by Samick in 1989. It has too much relief and the truss rod nut is bolloxed. I`ve taken the nut out and filed a slot across it so I could use a large flat screwdriver, but that didn`t get me enough relief either. So I used it to prop a wall up for a couple of months. I`m now trying to find a new nut to fit, but I`m having no luck turning up any information on what size. I bought a "Mexican Fender" sized TR nut and it`s too small. The American Fender bullets look like what I took off, but I`d prefer not to waste another £7 if I can help it. Any info or ideas? Ta, MM
8. And this is why we don`t use the D.I output from the amp....
9. Being a smart arse I worked out I could tune my bass in the last verse of a song with no bass in the verse, ready for the next song which was in Eflat. I was half way through, having done the G and D strings when I hear "And on Bass....." my head shot up as I remembered someone vaguely muttering about band intros and I went into Rabbit in the headlights mode.. So with everyone looking at me I snapped out of tune mode on the GT6 and noodled a bit on the D&G strings trying to do my best Jazz Flute routine while attempting to look nonchalant. I later saw a vid,the noodling wasn`t as bad as it was in my head, although still a at least a two palmer, but my poker face needs serious work. Back to taking two basses I think.
10. I think this thread has demonstrated why we mostly talk about anglo-american musicians and music.
11. Hello all. So, lately my BDDI has been acting a little eccentrically regarding power. I first thought something was odd when the power supply I was using didn`t seem to work, so I found another one and that worked. Fast forward two weeks and lately I`ve found that if I plug the power supply into my 4 way, then put the cable tip into the BDDI, it won`t work. If I put the tip in first THEN plug the power supply in,then it usually works. Not always though, had to plug in 3 times last gig before it decided to work. Not sure why this is happening, must be something in the circuit to protect against surges maybe, and it could be seeing power up as a surge? Just a guess. So seeing another post here concerning a BDDI only working on Batts, I thought I`d share and see if it`s a common problem. MM
12. Ah, I`ve been in there a few times too. Bloody awful metal stairs MM
13. Sounds like it`s working perfectly for a Zoom.
14. Looks like a very fine example of a serious amount of Cab. Good luck
15. I spose this would work as well with a pair of old bass strings actually fitted to the E and G bridge and tuner positions?
16.
I used to rehearse next to them and (dont know about records ) but live they sounded great, its all them, great band I thought too. post fairlight though most likley Akia s1000...(well I know it was)
Would that be at Spirit Studios on Tarrif St? If so we prob crossed paths as I used to work and reh there at the same time.
17. Good stuff, please post pics of your progress,I`m sure others will be interested too. Good luck! MM
18. Should have saved this for apres coffee. Then at least I could have spat it out.
19. Dave. Everything. I wonder if Pickup Dave will chip in Dave, what do you think? I reckon his toilets blocked. Dave.
20. Hey. Nice project. I have a 65 Teisco sitting in a corner gathering grumbles from the Mrs too! I can`t see anything wrong with the pots or the tone cap,all have good reps and are used widely. The Jazz diagram will suit this bass perfectly. The only known unknown( ) is the pickups, which seeing as they are no names, nobody will know about. The Wizard 64s are 8.6 and 8.2 ohms respectively which suggests your Korean pickups won`t be too quiet. I say go for it!
21. How much for the neck? Is it Jazz sized ie 37.5 at the nut?
