It has just been announced that Alan Lancaster and Jeff Berlin are to be twinned. Tina Weymouth and Glen Matlock are currently in talks.

The same goes for composers such as Bach and Mozart, who were paid to compose - I don't see why the fact that they were paid to compose their works, either as commissions or as part of their employment, shouldn't mean they should be disqualified from saying what their favourites were. Although it would be difficult to get an opinion from them now.

On my Ashbory, which has rubber-band strings, I find that adopting a violinesque left hand position with the fingers pointing more along than across the unfretboard works better than the orthodox straight-across bass finger position.

Hotel California for me - not from the complexity of the bassline but because to make up for the fact we're missing a second guitar, keyboards, and whatever else the Eagles had available, I arpeggio root-5-octave legato throughout the three verse instrumental outro that we do. The whole song is that root-5-octave arpeggio, but playing it when the vocals are there, I'm relaxing my fretting hand to damp the strings at least once during every bar on a particular chord, whereas I have to just keep fretting when playing legato.

There's one of those combos in the rehearsal room that I use. If I was concerned with anything other than hitting the right notes, I wouldn't use it. There's also a Trace 4x10 combo in the room (under the other one, as it happens) which I don't bother using - used to have one, made of depleted uranium, not exactly tone monsters.

[/quote] PP3s are something of an oddity in that they are, in the true sense of the word, batteries. AA and AAA, [i]et al[/i], are actually cells, which each produce in the region of 1.5V - PP3s are a battery of six cells in series which total 9V or so. That means that chargers have a bit of a problem in that they can't assess the charge state of the individual cells but just the whole lot (and probably don't bother at all). I've used rechargeable PP3s for a Nady wireless system but never been greatly enamoured of them and I'm far happier using AAs as used in the Line 6 G50.

Some agents have exclusive deals with venues - there are nearly 30 pubs we can't approach direct because an agent has them, and said agent, although we're on the books, is signally lacking in getting us in anywhere - I think we've had two gigs out of him this year (including the one coming up, and no more booked in). Seeing as we've helped out by doing a couple of last minute cancellations for him last year, you'd think there might be a bit of payback, but it doesn't appear so.

The 800% doesn't seem to hold up with what else is said, but it would appear that it gives several times (4 or 5 times) the energy return insofar as 80% of the stored energy in the battery is still stored in it when it's thrown away (rather than 5%), and this allows that proportion to be decreased drastically.

I play fingerstyle and the bB eE aA dD gG setup works OK for me. Which also means I don't have to try and swap the tuners round, which is nice...

Wayne County and the Electric Chairs, "If you don't wanna f....." would probably not be the ideal song for a wedding. As yet I haven't heard it at one though.

I sold my Bass Collection - because it was so light rather than for any other reason, I was used to a Warwick Thumb so the BC felt very insubstantial. If I was suffering from back or shoulder problems that would be helped by a lighter bass, I'd go for one again.

9, although having to work out what every note was from middle C means I'm rather slow on note recognition and I've never encountered the alto clef before (otherwise I'd have crept into double figures).

No, mine's a Dean Edge Hammer 10 which is at the lower end of the price scale and it's got individual saddles for every string. Having not done a lot of research on multicourse basses, I don't know which is more common, shared pairs or individual.
