No, it's lovely to be me. How does it feel to be the most tedious member of Basschat?

No matter how many times @joel406 makes this tedious argument, I'm sticking with an amp and cab because I'm not lugging round a sub or larger PA speakers to be able to put the bass through, and I'm not going to arse around setting up ambient mics and potentially micing up the drumkit. And we play in smallish pubs, and I've got earplugs.

Are you unplugging the bass when not in use? -
TGI Extreme (guitar version, used for headless basses) has been doing a good job. I've also got a Thomann E-Bass Gigbag Premium which has more pocketry. The straps are better (easier to put on) on the TGI but the Thomann one is fine. I used to have the guitar version for headlesses, the only drawback being that the reinforcement for the strap peg position catered for the single fairly central strap peg of most guitars, not the widely spaced double strap pegs of headlesses, and eventually (after several years) the main zip started to go.

I started on classical guitar (my brother's, as it happens). Very difficult to play barre chords (I have a classical guitar now, and still find it difficult to play barre chords on, 55 years later). A steel-strung acoustic proved much easier to play.

I didn't bother. They're not going to be travelling very far over the lifetime of the bass, after all, when compared with the normal applications for thrust bearings.

Is that 269 that those straps have been made out of?

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
tauzero replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Rather better rehearsal with the originals band this time as the BL wasn't stressed out and exhausted. Got a little disrupted towards the end as the slightly dodgy PA amp in the room started cutting out on particular notes. Still, we continue to make progress. -
I know you're all eager to hear this - when your batteries are running flat, the old MS series stopped working (but you could check the battery level). On the Plus series, AFAICS you can't check the battery level but when the batteries run flat, it stops working and the panel flashes twice a second accompanied by a CLACK CLACK CLACK noise, so that's, er, really handy.

And there's some additional information in the very brief user manual on MIDI mapping other than the PC mapping, and a Zoom interface explorer at https://www.waveformer.net/zoom-explorer/. This could be handy for anyone who wants to build a controller to allow all six effects to be switched on and off without scrolling. For the original MS pedals (MS-70CDR, MS-50G), mapping of MIDI CCs to effect parameters only works smoothly for the first three effect slots. For the remaining three effect slots, changing the effect parameters will trigger a patch reload, which will result in audio being muted for a brief moment. For the MS+ pedals (MS-70CDR+, MS-60B+, MS-50G+) the MIDI CC mapping works for all effect slots. CC Target 2 Effect 1 on/off 3-14 Effect 1 parameter 1-12 17 Effect 2 on/off 18-29 Effect 2 parameter 1-12 33 Effect 3 on/off 34-45 Effect 3 parameter 1-12 48 Effect 4 on/off 49-60 Effect 4 parameter 1-12 63 Effect 5 on/off 64-75 Effect 5 parameter 1-12 78 Effect 6 on/off 79-90 Effect 6 parameter 1-12

Just to add this: there was a mention of a browser-based editor for Zoom pedals on Reddit, so I checked it out. https://sym.bios.is/ Quick screenshot: Note: I had to disable ad-blockers on the site, which doesn't look like a problem as there aren't any ads.

I got the MS-70CDR+ rather than the MS-60B+. Not having PC editing is a PITA. There's a good selection of effects though, and I'm not bothered about amp sims, hence going for the CDR rather than the B. I'm not sure if this is me missing something, or an issue with the pedal design. I'm using batteries in it for now, just for convenience while I'm messing around with it. On my non-plus MS pedals, I can press the Settings button and it will show me the state of the batteries. The manual for the MS-70CDR+ says that I should select the battery type so it can tell me the battery state correctly but doesn't then appear to have a way of showing the battery state, and there's nothing in the manual that I have found to tell me how to find the battery state.

No, it was @Woodinblack who bought the bigly bass.

Done the thrust bearing mod yet?

Embrace the last 40 years and keep it active.

I've been using its predecessor, the Tecamp Puma 900, for many years. Very happy with it. And it has options for colouring the tone or just leaving it uncoloured.
