2. Given the nature of the prize, how about.... Eddie?
3. I had a very small ding on the headstock of my jetglo Ric. I was amazed at how good a match Hammerite is!
4. Avian Monkey Jazz Steampunk Funk is so yesterday, it's all Avian Monkey post Jazz Steampunk Funk now... Actually, maybe they are having a crack at this... 5. 35 people deleted their posts before this one. You already have my address
6. I even managed to see Roy Wood into the bargain when I went to the last Quo show about a year ago. Good night out had by one and all. We all bang on about how we should be there to entertain the punters in our own bands but can get very protective about our heroes doing the same thing sometimes. I know it is a bit sad the way quo ended up being something of a cabaret act but they have to make a living and album sales aren't likely to do it any more.
7. Hinge & Bracket..... ......it's OK, I know
8. Damn, I was hoping that one day I might be down south (unlikely but you never know) and get to see WalMan's prog covers band, I liked the youtube clips I saw. In fact if I was going to put together my own band I'd be thinking exactly along these lines, maybe with a bit more late 60's psychedelia thrown in. However I'd suspected the audiences just weren't there in numbers and this sadly pretty much confirms it.
9. Jim Dunlop nylon 1mm for me too, tried all sorts but keep coming back to them. Never seem to be available in anything other than black, though I've never looked online. Black ones seem to disappear into a void whenever I drop them onstage.
10. I have an older brother who was (and still is) a big Quo fan so I heard all the classic early 70's stuff as it was released. I didn't actually get to see them live until relatively recently, they just seemed to pass me by as a live act. Still a very hard working band. I wasn't able to get a ticket for one of the reunion shows but if Alan's health holds up and they can fit it into the schedule maybe there might be a few more announced.
11. Not seen it but I'm pretty sure that it is an hour in total covering two albums. Maye they couldn't find enough interesting material for each of them individual so turned it into a twofer?
12. Yes there's only one way to choose between the two singers.....
13. I've never watched any of these talent shows but I heard on the radio this morning that according to the figures coming back people were switching off in droves even whilst the programme was being broadcast. Has the bubble burst?
14. Glad to hear it's going well 'shell. The guitarist isn't as well prepared not because he's been notified late, it's because he's a guitarist. They're nearly all like that, trust me
15. I don't think the bass was quite as good on subsequent Judie Tzuke albums after the first couple with Rhino. Very subjective though. As has been said before it's mostly those multi-tasking people like Macca/Sting/Geddy/Lynott who would be missed the most. I notice Lizzy these days is a 6 piece unit so they have to have a separate singer and a bass player to replace PL.
16.
Hendrix playing bass is always interesting because you can sort of tell it's a guitarist playing bass. Quite busy, not as tight as you would expect from a top class bassist (i.e. someone who was as good at bass as Jimi was at guitar). Spanish Castle Magic is another example of this.
I think this is a good point. IIRC it's Hendrix playing bass on Red House and it doesn't always go quite in the direction you'd expect a typical bass player to do it considering it's a standard blues progression. I've heard no end of bass players do it in jam sessions and none of them do it like the original.
17.
Check this bad boy out - choral arrangement of the Battlestar Galactica vesion. No use at all for getting the bass part down, of course!
They could have made it more Hendrixesque by one of them laying down onstage and the end and the rest setting fire to them. Another opportunity lost...
18. I vaguely recall seeing them years ago, probably on the original Mindcrime tour. He had a hell of a voice in his day but I wasn't smitten by them as a total band. I think they were also on the lineup of a one day festival thing I saw at Milton Keynes several years ago (Deep Purple headlined) where they had some woman singing with them. It was all done as some sort of Goth Opera but in an outdoor venue in full sunshine it didn't really come off!
19. Some Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel would fit in with that sort of set too.

Feedback for FLEX

Finally gave in to temptation and bought a very nice P bass from Pete. Easy communications and was around for me to pick up with no hassle. Thoroughly recommended bc trader.

CURVED AIR

Yep they had quite a few through the door especially toward the end of the 'first era'. Eddie Jobson did a stint too.
22. I'd be more concerned at that button above it encouraging the illegal copying of copyrighted material
23. Tell me about it, even worse if you're over 40. I imagine the OP just left it off his list but there is also the Partysounds site which is similar to Gumtree etc though the layout looks like it could do with a freshen up. The ones that are starting to hack me off are those that can't even be bothered to reply. Even if it is a simple cut and paste 'Thanks but we already have someone' message before they take their ad down would suffice. Not teally enough time with the day job to consider starting one from fresh at the moment but i might be forced into it at this rate.

CURVED AIR

I think I have most of the CA back catalog in one format or another. If Muso has been in the band since 2008 I would have seen him play with them at the last High Voltage festival in Victoria Park. One of those bands I'd never seen as they had pretty much disappeared by the time I started going to see bands seriously. Was nice to finally see Sonia who plays it just right not taking herself too seriously but still delivering. It was interesting to hear her, difficult to pin it down but she does have quite an identifiable voice if you are familiar with the original recordings. Bit of a babe in her day too, rather like Jerney Kaagman of Earth & Fire from around the same period. I've noticed the gig at the y theatre in Leicester is the day before my birthday so I might just get down for that!
