1. I think when it comes to music there are no shoulds or shouldn'ts. You only have your own ears to hear what you are playing. No use in setting things up from someone elses ears if you hate the tone. I do not like Fender basses. Some might say I'm wrong but I prefer a more modern style of bass and don't like to get stuck in tradition. We all have our own tastes and no-one can say we are wrong to have those tastes. Stick with the placement of your dirt that you like.
2. For me just buying for the cover artist would be a bit narrow. I subscribe annually. I often get onto youtube and look up artists and bands I don't know about. That way I can find new music I might like. If I don't like their music then I just move on to the next. Keeps an open mind about music in general.
3. I've never really liked the SG shape but the workmanship on this makes up for that in every possible way you can think of. Stunning!
4. Eh... we... u.... One of the most stunning finishes I have ever seen.
5.
Quick, come in and shut the door behind you !
OK, but what does that 310K beside Scott's YouTube mean?
6. No. I know about it too.
7. What is the body made from?
8. ...and I second that recommendation. The movable pads help it hold any bass very well.
9. Perhaps the bands this guy is putting on just aren't very good.
10. I use the Pitch Fork too. You can select min/Maj 2 and Maj3, Perf 4 and 5, Maj6, min7, 1, 2 and 3 octaves above. You can also choose to have that note on its own or mix it in with the instrument tone. Faultless tracking too. The Boss harmoniser can also do that but can work within your own selected key.
11. Bolt-on fretted S2 with no lights would probably sell privately for around £12-1300 as a rough guide. Judging by used prices on the other two on the net I'd say strip the PRS out the equation.
12. Well Marcus Bell works there, is a big Status fan and inhabits these parts.
13. It does have free UK shipping. It costs a lot to throw a package around a delivery depot (allegedly).
14. I like that. Quite quirky in a good way. Given a like.
15. Blimey! The quality gets better every month.
16. Impressive stuff. Love the EWI, fits in really well.
17. I use the TC Electronic Hall of Fame. Lovely warm tone to it and simple to use. If you want it simpler still with only one knob to turn try the Hall of Fame mini. Both have the advantage of the Tone Print so endless editing possibilities.
18. And here's the building process. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgvWTZCrXYM
19. Well I'm getting old. At least that's my excuse.

Status offer a number of different onboard pre amps so there will be something that fits your bill. Speak to Dawn on the phone, she's a font of knowledge.
21.
You can also play three different root and fifths in one position on a fiver.
What I meant to say was root and octave. Doh! I would go along with alyctes. I use fivers tuned E-C. I don't like a low B, bit to floppy in tone and feel for me. With a high C you can play chords much more easily without them sounding muddy as they would tuned B-G. Some might disagree. Equally not everyone will need this option.
22. You can also play three different root and fifths in one position on a fiver. You can't do that on a four. Bet you play it for the whole set and never know the difference by the end of it.

The five string Status neck is a lot rounder than the four string. Still just as good though. Don't know if you have seen the headed fiver on sale on Statii.com http://www.statii.com/forum/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=6267&pid=54607#post_54607
24.
Not now...
Oh I don't know. Lawrence Cottle, Janek Gwizdala, Gary Willis, Mark Egan, Kevin Glasgow, Damien Erskine, Dominique di Piaza, Steve Lawson. They are just the ones I know about. There are many other top quality players who are developing the instrument who don't get public adulation.
