1. Necks are not like Ibanez. Bit more body to them but very comfortable.
2. I'll echo everything Wan has said here. I have one and it has a lovely neck on it. Superb value.
3. Certainly Dave at his grumpy best. Roger Sadowsky doesn't speak too highly of the instruments either.
4. Interesting stuff. I like Vantage Point.
5.
Irrespective of what I change / adapt in my playing, I do not sound like the original bass line.
I'm wondering why you need to sound like the original all the time. Putting your own slant on a bass part helps you develop your own style. You play the part as you hear it. As has been said above it comes from your mind. That's all that matters at the end of the day.
6. I mean, he could at least have replaced the tone knob. I ask you.
7.
which one? Glad to be of service!
To be honest I can't remember. Probably just as well in case I plagiarised your work
8.
Enjoying this a lot! Nice work. That's a lovely collection of pedals, and you've got them working together well!
Thanks so much Steve. One of your pieces was the inspiration for the arrangement and dug me out of a hole of stuckness.

10. I've seen Chris McIntyre in Edinburgh repair a chip like this to the point it was invisible. Find a reputable luthier and that will be sorted.
11. That's definitely a J. Arthur P type.
12. It's not improvised. This has been hanging round for a year now. First I couldn't find where to go with the arrangement then Steve Lawson and Perry Frank put videos up that sparked it off. Then things got in the way after that, including the electrics on my ACG packing in. But here it is with the arrangement having evolved quite a bit over time. Thanks to our Steve and Perry for the inspiration too.
13. More unconventional use of a bass guitar. I used the Status Series 3 again for this. Started with the EHX Canyon delay then through all sorts and finishing with the chords degrading in the El Capistan. I used the Loop Tree app on iPad for this one. Seamless looping with lots of tracks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZwTM_A8h50
14. Go to youtube and look up the many videos that show you how to do it. Get hold of a soldering iron. and a pair of pliers that can get a grip underneath the fret. Then follow the youtube video instructions. The soldering iron will melt the glue holding the fret in reducing the risk of fret tangs pulling bits of wood from the fret board. Alternatively take it to a luthier.
15.
You guys are a bad influence.
A Devil sitting on each shoulder.
16.
Don't say that, 'cos I am tempted. Two birds, one stone? (i.e. I'd like to try a fretless... lol)
Well try it. It's not as difficult as you might think and as Roger2611 siad "none better than a bass collection to learn with".
17. Just watched that on iPlayer. Yes a bit shakey but sounded more to do with not enough rehearsal than anything. Her comment at the end "glad I remembered it" said as much.
18. Thanks. Never seen Gladiator so have to look that up.
19. A little noodle on the Status Electro 2 with TC Flashback, EHX Pitch Fork and, Micro POG and Superego plus the Canyon delay. http://soundcloud.com/bassbus/bassfx-noodle
20. Happy days when the big name pop acts of the time were allowed to write their own songs, record them playing the instruments themselves and not wholly relying on Autotune.
21. I'm always happy to see men opening up about their mental health. Best attitude to have. It can only encourage other's to do the same. Playing is for fun, you don't have to be of the equal to Jaco or Gary Willis. You are you and that's all that matters. All power to you.
22. After attending a rather sad funeral yesterday (as if any funeral isn't sad) I was in a rather sombre mood. This is what came from it. Some improvised ambient chord swells. Let yourself dissolve in "Emma's Tears". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADnKhtwruz8
23. Nice. I particularly liked 04-22. Very soothing.
24.
I tried a set of Daddario's a few years back and didn't like them at all. The E sounded dead right out of the packet, maybe I just got a bad set.
This is a problem I have had with some sets of Half from D'addario and Status. One thing to try which might help avoid it is to bend the string at the length you want it. Then cut the string just past the cut. This should stop the outer windings from slipping on the core. Certainly what Rob Green at Status recommends.
25.
PS. I like the T.I.s quite a lot, in that they are lower tension than any other flat I've played, but sometimes, I think they're almost too low tension lol
If you like TIs that much then it would be worth looking at Chromes, Labella 760 and Cobalt flats. They have a simlar feel and tone to TI jazz flats. I have used TIs a lot as well and generally like them. I did try a set on my Overwater fretless and didn't like the tone. Put on a set of Labella 760FS and that was the fretless tone I have always looked for. They do a lower tension set as well, 760FL.
