  1. Problem solved on the Line 6 forum. Go to command centre and select one of the 'lightning bolts' at the top. Then just enter all the midi details that correspond with the channel and patch of the Strymon, save and job done. Each time I solve a problem like this I marvel at how good the Helix is. Probably the best designed piece of kit I have ever used.
  2. Yes and that's all sorted. Midi works fine. I just need to know if switching the Big Sky patch when I switch the Helix patch is possible.
  3. A small query about external patch changes via midi. I'm using my Strymon Big Sky in a stereo effects loop and have set a switch to select the patch I want on the big Sky. That works fine. What I would like to happen is the Big Sky patch being selected automatically when I select the patch on the Helix without having to press the button once I have selected the Helix patch. I hope that makes sense. Anyone any idea if this is possible and/or how to set it up.
  4. I love the possibilities you have in the Helix to play around with the order of effects. Tried putting a multi repeat delay into a reverb and then a filter. Gives this lovely washy ambient sound. Wonderful piece of gear.
  5. I recently faced exactly the same problem. All you need is a standard stereo (TRS) cable and a right angled adaptor. Sorted the problem for me and works really well. Cost pennies on ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-35mm-STEREO-Jack-Male-Plug-to-Female-Socket-Right-Angle-Adapter-90-Degrees/360438521355?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
  6. I like to leave the negative comments so everyone can see the poster for what they are. At least they care enough to post a comment. I enjoy the whole process and that's all that's important for me. If other people like the music that's a bonus. If they don't, there's plenty of other music on the net they will enjoy.
  7. When I start recording a video I always snap the G string onto the figerboard. All cameras have their sound recording on and I record the proper sound for use in the video on Cubasis. Doing this gives me a point on the sound track from each camera that I can line up in the editing software. I then group all the tracks together so I can't move any of them out of sync and edit from there. It's a bit like the use of a clapper board used in shooting a film for cinema. Nothing really more complicated than that for me.
  8. I think I have the answer to this. There is no specific auto volume but there are a couple of delays that can swell the tone in and work very well. They sound a bit glitchy sometimes when playing chords but still not too bad.
  9. Just a bit of fun playing around with the Line 6 Helix and Status Series 3
  10. Clearly you haven’t played an ACG. If you had you would know how good they are. I too own a Cort bass and I know how good it is but I also own an ACG and it is many times better than the Cort.
  11. In the process of updating now, all going well. I’m having to step up from 1.06.5
  12. Having problems installing 2.30 but that seems to be common place judging by other fora. Rainy day today so plenty of opportunity to have a go at it.
  13. Ah well. Just been and gone and bought one today. Where the hell do I start?
  14. The manual doesn’t seem to suggest it can. At least I can slot the slow engine in a send/return.
  15. Can any of you gents tell me if the Helix is able to do auto volume/swell in the way that Mooer Slow Engine/ Boss Slow Gear does?
  16. Thanks for listening. I like your description of how you play around with synths
  17. This is a bit of an experiment so has lots of bits I would do differently a second time. I decided I wanted to do a piece without working too much of it out beforehand. This was largely improvised and it shows. Steve Lawson once commented that if you want to learn to improvise you have to start somewhere. The more you do it the better you get. Well this is my start. Bit like improvising on any instrument, you have to know it back to front and inside out. Same applies when using effects. I'd like to get away from just big pad chords so have to learn the extent of all the effects pedals. You can only do that by experimenting. Here's my first experiment. It's really a bit too long. See what you think.
  18. The link below goes some way to supporting Dad3353's comments. So many artists and composers through history have died penniless but today we see them as major contributers and influences in their field. http://mentalfloss.com/article/28010/10-cultural-giants-who-died-coinless
  19. Beat me to it but this is of course a gratuitous attempt to get my name in on a post. IIRC I think the original Stingrays were shipped with flats so it was an intended tone.

  21. I think these steam engines on’t railways are dreadful things. It were far better when we just had horse and cart. Life were just so much better.
  22. The words "used to" are the operative words here. That was in the past and in case you haven't noticed the world has moved on quite a way since the 1970s. All that matters is that kids play music. It doesn't matter a hoot where their inspiration comes from. The generation gap can hold a great deal back. Things change and we all have to accept that.
  23. "Me too"! "You'll just have to wait" "I can't wait! I want one noowww"!
