  1. Good on you kidder. Looks so much fun and thanks for all the photos.
  2. Somehow just liking that post isn't good enough. Hope the show goes well. I'm sure you'll have a ball.
  3. Having polyphonic octaves would be great. That would free up a send/return.
  4. Maybe second best to playing in Mark Knopfler's band. Boast away. have a good gig.
  5. Helix does not do polyphonic octaves. The octave effects don't come close to any of the POG varieties, be they 2, Micro or Nano. I have the Pitch Fork and Micro POG in a send/return which helps the Helix sound amazing.
  6. Some lovely and very usable filters in 2.50
  7. Heaven - humbucking pickups Hell - single coil pickups (so that rules out F****r [DUCK] )
  8. I find some of the cheaper reverbs have a rather metallic tone. Hall of Fame/HoF has a very warm tone that I've always loved. Even with the HoF you have access to Tone Print so you can tailor the tone to suit you.
  9. I'd recommend the Hall of Fame as well. If you don't want to spend a huge amount have a look at the mini version, HoF Mini. All the benefits of the bigger pedal but cheaper and smaller.
  10. Here's how I've used the filter with a bass. Delay into particle reverb into filter. A wise move. Depends how you want to use octave/pitch effects. I find Helix pitch effects a bit glitchy. They are not polyphonic either if that's what you want. I have Micro POG and Pitch Fork in send/return loops and they work very well with it.
  11. This all brings to mind something my Dad said to me; "You might not like the person but listen to the message". That has stuck with me ever since and makes me look at certain people in a different light.
  12. If you can get yourself to Edinburgh have a word with Chris McIntyre. https://www.mcintyreguitars.com/
  13. There is no secure purchasing. No padlock beside the web address. Keep clear at all costs.
  14. This one covers everything I have dreamt of in a bass and I'm lucky enough to own it. I had Status put the bridge pickup 20mm from the bridge instead of the standard 10mm. Makes all the difference to the tone.
  15. I haven't seen jazz mentioned yet. The OP used the example of Puff/P Diddy/Daddy/Doddy's use of Every Breath You Take. Half the jazz tunes out there use exactly the same chord progressions as a lot of other jazz tunes. They just right their own tune over the top. Just the same sort of use in a different time.
  16. Problem solved on the Line 6 forum. Go to command centre and select one of the 'lightning bolts' at the top. Then just enter all the midi details that correspond with the channel and patch of the Strymon, save and job done. Each time I solve a problem like this I marvel at how good the Helix is. Probably the best designed piece of kit I have ever used.
  17. Yes and that's all sorted. Midi works fine. I just need to know if switching the Big Sky patch when I switch the Helix patch is possible.
  18. A small query about external patch changes via midi. I'm using my Strymon Big Sky in a stereo effects loop and have set a switch to select the patch I want on the big Sky. That works fine. What I would like to happen is the Big Sky patch being selected automatically when I select the patch on the Helix without having to press the button once I have selected the Helix patch. I hope that makes sense. Anyone any idea if this is possible and/or how to set it up.
  19. I love the possibilities you have in the Helix to play around with the order of effects. Tried putting a multi repeat delay into a reverb and then a filter. Gives this lovely washy ambient sound. Wonderful piece of gear.
  20. I recently faced exactly the same problem. All you need is a standard stereo (TRS) cable and a right angled adaptor. Sorted the problem for me and works really well. Cost pennies on ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-35mm-STEREO-Jack-Male-Plug-to-Female-Socket-Right-Angle-Adapter-90-Degrees/360438521355?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
  21. I like to leave the negative comments so everyone can see the poster for what they are. At least they care enough to post a comment. I enjoy the whole process and that's all that's important for me. If other people like the music that's a bonus. If they don't, there's plenty of other music on the net they will enjoy.
  22. When I start recording a video I always snap the G string onto the figerboard. All cameras have their sound recording on and I record the proper sound for use in the video on Cubasis. Doing this gives me a point on the sound track from each camera that I can line up in the editing software. I then group all the tracks together so I can't move any of them out of sync and edit from there. It's a bit like the use of a clapper board used in shooting a film for cinema. Nothing really more complicated than that for me.
