1. quick morning bump anybody any clues in what could possibly deteriorate or fail from lack of use? when it was stashed away 20 years ago it was working fine the only thing i can think of that might be significant is leaving it stored with the battery inside - although bear in mind too the age and this was an EVER READY SILVER SEAL with only the fraction of thge capacity of modern alkaline/lithium batteries - - quite often with those old batteries they would leak their corrosive juices everywhere but when i opened uo the box the battery was completely dry and clean any ideas where to start much appreciated . ta
2.
Being a hawker of the rootsier end of things, I dream of the day when a drummer turns up with no more than a snare, a hi-hat and a couple of sticks.
our drummer often only turns up with a snare bass hihat and crash (despite the fact that he owns six complete kits)
3. ok so after fetching it from the loft i inserted a fresh working battery and plugged it in and lo and behold .... not working i dismantled and reassembled the footswitch but still nothing - anybody have any clues as to what might possibly go wrong with these after 'not being used' for 25 years? looks like a quick trip to an effects expert for some repairs/servicing before sale!
4. i can do better than £300 ... squier affinity J - i just picked one up this afternoon from my local music emporium (Sound & Image in Chatham ) for 149 (Used) but apparently you can get them for 200-220 ish new - quite frankly im chuffed to pieces it luvverly and spend the £100 you would have saved towards a hartke and you cant really go wrong
5. looks like a potential NYJO candidate in a few years already playing well now ! how good is he going to be when the auto-pilot kicks in! definite pro drummer potentia
6.
I hate to say it and - yes they do look like bellends and the performance is totally OTT- but I think they have something.
yes they have something and lets hope its not catching because theres already too many sh1te indie bands around

8.
Well done for nailing down a fav of mine 'Chameleon'. I had never heard of this song until I went to a 'chill-out' bar in Glasgow. The 4 piece band that played this were truly superb!! I was at the bar getting the drinks and when I heard this song I had to ask the band leader what they were playing. A seemingly straightforward bassline but still sounds amazing!! Still need to have a go at it myself!! How did you learn to play it? By reading music or just working it out yourself? 13. well done JM - not many people could paint such a picture of somebody
14. this one is in D but were doing it in Bflat not just once but almost every song in the set! i dont complain TOO loud to be honest as im not a singist so i guess its their prerogative
15. bugger wish id seen this earlier - just picked up a nice blue/white affinity for 150
16. thanks for the tips will def look into the age a bit more if there is any indicators in the box (when i can find it in the attic!) ive pretty much given up any idea of playing six strings any more even though i was a much better guitarist than bassist but im really not a big fan of distorted bass so i cant see it ever getting any decent use by myself not only that id be concerned gigging it as its so small (ie large pocket size) it could easily fall off the floor into somebodys pocket when you werent looking when ive fished it out the attic i will take a few snaps and post them up
17. dont sing or even offer! (unless of course you want to!) i always make it quite clear at the outset that i do not sing and play at same time because of the risk of stopping breathing
18. good luck with the gig ... and the thumb
19. reusrrected thread - still up for sale/swap £[s]500 £450[/s] [s]£370[/s] [s] £300[/s] give away £0.00 yes really
20. he's got a saxomophone
21.
So you have tried identical basses but for the woods involved and found that they sound considerably different? If so then you I defer to your more relevant experience.
i didnt say but for the woods - obviously there are other factors but why defer to my experience when you could have your own? one thing i can guarantee, is that it will be much more useful than us lot on here waffling all our pseudoscience
22. http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/guitars-basses/el-basses/trb/?mode=series if its the bolt on neck, unless you desperately keen to get your hands on one then i personally would hold out to try and find the one piece thru neck - youll be glad you waited!
23. i really dont understand people who claim that the wood doesnt make a difference?- i just visited my local music emporium to try out half a dozen different J's (mixture of fender and squier) - ive decided on the cheapest squier there as i like the sound from it (and the price!) but even my cat could tell the difference in tone and sound quality between them
24.

FML what is THAT???!!!
