10. have a bump - great bargain at 35 - dont be fooled peeps thinking that these peds dont look like they do much - if you play a passive its like having an outboard active and really boosts the colour and tone
 11. will give you a shout at end of month mate (pay day) if you still have them then
 12.
Brand new, never been out of the packet! I'm after a lighter gauge 4 string set for my medium scale P-bass. Hit me up with any offers! Stephen
have you tried them though before? they are heavier in terms of diameter but the tension is much lower than steel or nickel wounds
 13.
1. Music - in particular that of Slade, The Sweet and T.Rex
oh yes and this too - electric warrior was my first vinyl LP and i suspect like many others of a similar age the slade sweet t.rex trio was everybody favourite top three and before any of you 'younger' metal fans out there start sniggering at the the glam pop thing go check out some of sweets b sides
 14. bugger i forgot to put 50p in the meter
 15. nobody mentioned nuances yet?
 16. im shivering with anticipation
 17.
I wouldn't describe this rig as 'loud'. It can hold it's own against two apparently deaf, half-stack equipped, guitarists....
You too huh ?!
 18.
i'd forgotten just how tasteful & tasteless Frank can be, often both at the same time! oh, and it's a Supernatural Series II http://bassaxe.blogs...pernatural.html John
+1 but his soloing has improved much since those early days http://youtu.be/qG7jtjC2N9g
 19.
I agree with you in some ways, in that the effect of hitting strings in different ways on an electric bass does not have the level of variance that it would on say a classical guitar, and that some people do talk a lot of bollocks on this subject. BUT, players do have very different sounds when they play the same instrument. When people say fingers, they really mean BRAIN. The way each note is attacked, the way the right and left hands interact, the left hand techniques used, the minute decisions people make while they phrase a musical passage, these all combine to make very significant differences that add up to a personal style of operating the instrument. That's what I think people mean by 'fingers'.
no sorry mister Nige - its deffo my fingers play my bass - but i get your point and i'll extend it further by postulating that its your unconscious brain that does all the good stuff - if your conscious brain starts taking over it usually tries to hard and you'll probably end up sounding all malmsteeny or something
 20. meh its got a chuffin big hole in it
 21.
BC has never 'advertised' so it's quite cool to hear how you all arrived.
you mean youve not been checking all our referrers?
 22.
I cant see how the way you play makes much difference. I mean, the only real change you can make is to attack. Same with a pick. You cant change a sound by plucking the string a different way. There only is one way to pluck a string. The only difference is how hard you pluck it. Possibly, a finger nail being slightly longer might make a slight difference, but I still think its a load of bollocks that you can change your sound drastically by playing" differently"
sorry but totally disagree - its not just the attack finger postion, angle of attack (if using fingers) contact time of finger on string and the way you push through the note while your finger is in contact with string how you release whether you attack parallel to fretboard of perpendicular will vary the amount of travel towards the fretboard and the amount of buzz or slap you induce against the frets these things are admittedly very subtle but do make a difference
 23. Fingers!!! Or pick if you must
 24.
IME, if you're working with more than one guitarist then forget the acoustic bass route. Even with a good quality acoustic bass you'll struggle to be heard.
Guitars too loud? Surely not!
