4.
In all cases I was more than happy for people to use it and to give less financially fortunate/ younger players often their first crack with top rank gear. Also its a good opportunity to find out what your rig sounds like from a audience perspective.
very good point
5.
I'll happily share my rig if sensible people ask in advance. The crap attitude of turning up on the day with just a bass and hoping for the best deserves a lesson being taught.
this if the promoter/organiser/FOH says they advised ALL bands that they needed to bring (preferrably DI-able) backline gear then i would consider it but only on how polite the would be users wanted to be about it just rocking up and plugging in might suggest that the organiser may have told everybody else (apart from yourself being first on of course) that there would be backline bass available (ie YOURS!!) sounds like you just need to figure out exactly who is taking liberties and administer the low end bee lesson
6. Ignored :-)
7. So who else's covers band will be doing this track this summer? :-) I wouldn't class it as a rip- off either if the man himself is part of it fwiw. Depends I guess if you want to best them up over it. Saying that I always tongue firmly in cheek refer to Ray of Light as a William Orbit album with Madge on guest vocals
8. ive had seasoned felabyers recommend using maximum bid system but make the figure and odd amount of pence as there could be a possibility that someone will make the exact same bid as yourself if you set the figure as a nice whole round number
9. strings it is i just recently changed a manky one year old set of steel swingbass for a nice shiny new set of nickel swingbass and it was so big an increase in output and improvement in tone that even the guitarists in our band noticed
10. somwehere out there will be getting some really good gigs with Mr Bolder back with Mick Ronson
11.
They're props, guys. This is Basschat, not Fantasy Island
there goes my disbelief all suspended
12. Our lot based in maidstone might be interested but 80% of our set list is post 2008
13. there was a thread last week where somebody has a friend who runs this .... http://www.dizzyjam.com/ cant find the thread at the moment sorry
14.
I wonder if they will lower the action to a gnats c*ck level
i would prefer my cock to be covered in gnats than buy one of these
15.
I am quite happy to have been born when I was. I was a teenager in the 70s so I was able to see my fave bands at the height of their powers and great they were too. Never saw Pink Floyd though, sad to say. Even now that I've morphed into a jazzer and living in austere times I wouldn't change anything. We have all sorts of fun toys to play with which hadn't even been thought of in the 70s. I may not listen to much 'young persons' music but there is still plenty out there worth listening to. I get more fun out of playing in bands now than I did then. With all of us being older now there aren't the same ego problems around. I wouldn't change a thing. Now, who sang that?
+1
16. hey dude ... check out the sweet spot dude ... no ... nearer the bridge dude
17. you post early to give us all extra time to practice our slapping chops ??
18. i gig both my squier J and my TRB but im fairly sure i could use just the J as it is so versatile and if i had to make a desert island bass choice it would be the J inspite of the build quality and the cuteness factor of the TRB and its stone cladding
19.
for me - the best bass solo's the one the player thought about doing and then figured the song would be better off without it!! I like the idea of essential bass parts in songs rather than solo's in the sense I think we mean solo. For instance - who can imagine the change in the middle of Fleetwood Mac's 'Chain' without McVie's part? Who doesn't look forward to the four 'solo'd' bass notes in 'Crazy little Thing called Love'? Who can no admire Macca making a very average 'Silly Love Songs' into a far better song by lifting it with his bass line. That's what it's about - listen to your song and make it better.

Exactly this in at least 90% of cases . Very few solos can beat a good " hook "bassline , which is surely far more of a true test of a bass player's skills . Look at players like James Jamerson and Joe Osborn - everything they played was in effect as important and as prominent as a solo , because it was so integral to the song as a whole .
definitely this/these easy peasy lemon squeezy solo >>> 1:23
