be careful if you are tempted to go for the black nylon wound flatwounds as they are usually a very heavy guage (but also low tension and very pliable) because of the significant increase in diameter you might need to cut the fret slots wider to accomodate the guage whereas if you go for steel or ncikel or such then you would probs stick with something liek a 40-100 or 45-105 set iirc from memory rotosound trubass come in at about 65-135 ish

im guessing the preference for a specific back line rig is driven by the desire for the tone of a particular amp/speaker rather than the bass itself? i use a hartke rig which i like because it is clean and powerful and provides a warm tone without adding colour from the amp itself - i really regard all my tone and colour coming from the bass so for me personally unless the PA is atrocious i can be pretty confident that what is DI'd coming out the FOH is a fairly good facsimlie of the sound coming from my cab

it wasnt empty there were plenty of people in there to saok up some of the sound but maybe not enough im guessing

putting this here as everybody seems to be putting anything and everything in GT or OT these days So, friday nights gig, dreadful sound and loads of squealing from the PA PA was up on stands as per usual, i put my 410 up on two low stools so it was up and isolated from the ground anybody have any practical tips on how to deal with playing in pubs with flagstone floors? ta muchly
