1. Ok, So, which would you go for... Shuttle6.0 12t combo OR Shuttle 6 head and BF Compact? These are not my only options, and I need to do some listening, but there will be experienced users on here who can shed some light too I hope? Thanks Chris
2. COOL. So why are these so cheap? Built to a price? Reliable? I think I might have to get one....or a Streamliner......
3. What's the story on this after the weekend Dave. I am in "serious pondering" mode. This plus BF Compact??? Could be nice.
4. Superb reports then. Sorely tempted to go for it.
5. how loud is this as a single cab - say, with a shuttle 6 or streamliner? Is it on hold for long? Cheers C
6. ok just bumping this - and edited the first post... Looks like I will probably be moving full time to bass in the near future, and feel myself drawn to explore alternatives....
7. pm sent. Is it 8 ohms?
8. I'm pondering a super12 t. Anyone know how this compares? Especially in terms of the power needed to drive it in relationto my abm500 (350 ish into 8 ohms)
9. I can, yes, but I am not sure that my groove remains as tight or consistent. I can however drum and sing at the same time with no issues at all. Go figure. I cannot actually sing that well though, but that is another story
10. My MIM is nice in my opinion. I tried a USA in a shop last week, and it felt a bit nicer, but I cannot afford one. I had a USA Jazz previously, that was "OK". I would never spend over, say, £300 (used) on a bass without playing it first though. For my current needs (not to mention funds) the MIM is jsut dandy
11. Jealous. I want to be doing something like that. I do Price Tag in my duo - does that count? Seriously, great show Phil
12.
I just moved from a big 'ol Trace Elliot rig to a TC Electronics Classic 450 through a Barefaced Compact and couldn't be happier. 16kg (vs 62kg) for a rig with more clarity and power.
To be fair, when I change it will be to a similar set up. But I cannot afford it yet. Alex has pretty much sold me on a Super12t
13. Bass direct shows a mrrp of £960!!! It had better be good...
14. 800w into a single 12?!?!? I like the tte head
15. Paperback version? Not sure I follow... How did you settle on this speaker? I only ask as I seem to think that it's all to do with what speaker matches what box size, ports etc? Sorry to seem picky, I am interested but want to be sure...
16. What is the spec on the cab? Ohms and handling please?
17.
Thanks nottswarwick. I'm really looking forward to giving these settings a try. Jack
It's a pleasure. I've never really been one for messing around too much with EQ (or effects for that matter), I just set it all flat and tweak to taste. In my opinion it should only be changed from "flat" if it is necessary, not tweaked "just because you can" Note - the pre shape is a kind of mid scooped sound, which can sound "indistinct" if it is no the sound you are after. My P basses sound quite woody and full, so this is not really an issue with me, but disengaging the preshape makes for a more mid-strong sound. I don't like it though. I have only just returned to Ashdown after a long time with Markbass rigs, and to be honest personally I don't find it muddy at all. What basses do you use? If you are near Nottingham you are welcome to spin over and try mine. Chris
18. Jack, this works for me...using P basses, vol and tone on full: Passive level input selected. Pre Shape On Valve drive On and at half - 12 o'clock I don't use the subharmonics EQ I start with the 3 knobs at half or 12 o'clock and the sliders at mid point, with EQ button engaged. Then I put the treble and mid knobs up to approx 5past, and the bass knob down to about 5to. I boost the treble sliders but only slightly. I have the tweeter in the cab on full. Mine is the evo2 so no compression To my ears this sounds deep but also clear and cuts fine. Everyone on stage can hear it and the DI (set post) sounds ace. Hope this helps
19. For what it's worth my ashdown rig is big sounding but not wooly. The EQ is very versatile and I find it easy to get q good sound. And this is coming FROM a markbass set up. I have hear that the 15s from ashdown can be muddy but my 410 is good. Heavy though.
20. I've owned a 102p and whilst very good, it's nowhere near as full sounding as my 410. With an extension cab it's another story. Get a barefaced super12. Very very impressive cab. I've done PA for a band where the bassist had one with a mb littlemark3, and trust me it was awesome in terms of tone, clarity and volume.
21. Marquee do at a golf club last night, low stage, our big PA rig. Same bass set up as Friday, still sounded great. So all in all a very good set up, for basically nit much cash. Happy. Chris
22. Watching the u2 set now. My take is they are properly awesome. Reminds me of me learning elec gtr age 15 and learning all edges parts to Blood Red Sky. Just my opinion, but they are superb. Songs, sound, playing. Bono forgot the chords in The Fly. As I type, the intro to Streets have no name is on. Hairs on back of neck. Enjoy
23. I thought I might swap the strings actually if I get time today. Takes a bit longer though as truss and intonation tweaks required as the strings are that different. I had to tighten the truss on the MIM quite a lot to compensate for the extra tension of the flats. Might try the flats on the rockier set too.
