1. It's just that to label him as "sh*te" does a great pro a dis-service, that's all that got me. Just my 2p.
2. Nice One Doddy - So much for reasoned debate. I'm sure you are right and I shall retract my foolish opinions.
3. Sorry doddy. I know we can differ that is fine. But you can't say he is sh*te as that is so obviously not true. My view (not necessarily the right or only one) is that he plays to make the song and singer shine. Not alot of rhythm section players do that to my ears. I would agree that hundreds of drummers have perhaps got more impressive soloing skills and chops (5 mins on YouTube is all you need) but he's a great "song" player I think at least.
4. Sure there are flashier players out there, and players with superhuman chops etc, but it's all about playing for the situation, and I humbly think he does it well. There is not really a weak link in Jools band unless you count the incessant boogie widdlings of the man himself. Awesome musicians, great rhythm section.
5. sh*te? Nope. Personal taste I guess. I think it's the variety that alot would struggle to pull off. He's ideal for that seat I reckon. But what do I know.
6. Lol watching it on repeat now. Got to say there is a lot of picky criticism in this thread. I know it's down to personal taste but surely we can all enjoy and learn something from live performances (yes I know it is pre recorded but you know what I mean) like this. I've enjoyed most of it. And as for Gilson, IMHO he is one of the finest. Taste, versatility and technique. To say he's a weak link is so wrong, sorry whoever said that but come on, that is so wrong.
7. My youtube channel Buster Party Band - I used to dep on bass in this band, but have now joined them as their drummer full time. These are some videos of the gigs of weekend just gone. There are 8 clips on there. Just thought I would share. Some nice Lakland and Markbass action for our bassist. Chris
8. OK, Alesis SR18 Drum Machine. Bought by me for an acoustic duo project, but we have found after using it at one home rehearsal that we do not need it. So, as far as it can be it is brand new in the box, although obviously it is not actually brand new. I have had it for about 4 months, but it has literally sat in the box all that time, so it is mint. They go for approx £200 new, so I will look at £150 plus postage, or collect from Nottingham. Gonna do Ebay, but list here first. Thanks Chris Here is a pic link:
9. Could you meet somewhere between you and nottingham?
10. I'm getting mine done tomorrow actually via David omerod. They are in Boots in town.
11. will you sell the 102?
12. He's bought my sansamp and all was peachy. Thanks.
13. gentlemen, this is sold pending the usual
14. Hi Well, most of my work is now on drums, so this is surplus to my needs. I've had it from new for about a year. It is in excellent condition (few dents in the tin, but the pedal itself is in great condition), and in perfect working order, no issues. Photos are here. Looking for £100 plus postage, or cash on collection, cheque, bank tfr, PAYAL ok but buyer to pay fees. Bargain. Thanks Chris
15. Actually you don't always want your onstage sound to be the same as foh sound. You will optimise the sound of your rig to sound good to your ears on that stage, but out front it might need different eq etc - and you won't know that from where you are stood. This is why it is often preferable to have a pre eq signal sent to the foh engineer, so that any changes you make do not change the signal he receives. The lm2 is post eq as stock but can be changed internally.
16. they are all I use. I want a 2 band one too.
17. Is there only the one speaker outputbon it, and this connects to the internal spkr?
18.
I also have to agree 100% and praise Proel (MarkBass UK Distributors) for the extent of their service. In my case a in Jan 09 I bought my dream combo: a MB CMD102P however earlier this year a new tube head came out the Little Mark Tube, and I asked Darren at the Bass Merchant (another top bloke but you already know that) if he could enquire with Proel to see if the new LM Tube head could be easily swapped with the original (LM II) he came back in a flash and said that not only it can be done but that Proel would be happy to swap it themselves so to safeguard my warranty that no work had been done by hillbillies, the turnover was just 3 days, I drove down to Bass Merchant, dropped the amp, Darren lent me a similar combo (genz benz or sommat) and 3 days later he sent me back my amp and even arranged collection of the loan amp! Proel were supa nice but Darren made it all happen thanks to his savoir-faire and excellent customer vs distributors relations. On the plus side not 2 days after the exchange I managed to sell my original MB LMII head and made a good part of my money back... oh and Darren did apply a nice basschat forum discount. Top Marks on all account. The tube preamp has made a considerable change in sound, it has given the amp the required warmth it lacked and with the tube blend knob you can dial it in at your perusal from totally solid state to 50% solid/tube to 100% tube preamp offering me the best of both worlds. My combo went from this... add this.... to this....
That looks COOOL
19. Might be time to get these er15s sorted. Anyone recommend a supplier, and somewhere to get the moulds done in Nottingham?
20. Excellent that is great to know. Another glowing reason to use their gear.
21.
I've got a 130W version which I could be talked into selling, I'm in Staffordshire at the minute...
How much?
22. What's the diff between the hartke kickback 15 and the a100 other than power?
23.
Harke A100 combos are good value for money. £239.00 at Digital Village I bought one a few months ago.
