  1. Thanks all. So, this is where we’ve ended up…not as “budget” as hoped for, but these are pro level gigs, and will lead to more work so it will be worth it. The combo is just for stage monitoring for the singer who does use in ears. see pic
  2. That’s potentially true although I have a OneSpoy supply which is good, and a gator pedal tote. thanks for all this advice so far
  3. And a compressor 👍
  4. I’ll check it out!
  5. Is the LMB3 not actually just a limiter? I shall research. Thanks all
  6. Thanks - yeah I’d looked at the Behringer and will check out the other options. My issue is that as I am mainly a drummer these days I sold all my bass rig stuff. I’m used to high end stuff, and although any bass work I get to do is sporadic, the gigs tend to be bigger pro stuff. Hence I am caught in a situation where I need good gear but don’t want to spend too much. I should probably just bite the bullet and get a BDDI (or similar) and a good compressor. Or maybe the Trace Transit B
  7. Ok so I need to put together a pedal board for some gigs - I’m mostly a drummer these days but this work has come in, so… Will need a DI, some compression, a bit of overdrive and a tuner I was going to get a Sansamp, but then it struck me that I already own a Radial JDI, and a TU2. BDDI is £250… So, I’m thinking a compression pedal and an overdrive. Affordable but decent for pro gigs. If I could spend £150 ish and get both then cool…used at this budget. Any recommendations? This way I can buy 2 affordable units and be done. cheers Chris
  8. unless this is broken it is far too cheap
  9. I found this with my RCF 732. Boomy on the floor. I surmised that this was due to the fact that as a PA cab it is optimised to be used on a stand, without floor coupling. Obvs this can be eq'd / hpf'd, but I have returned to a head and 12" cab traditional bass amp set up and to be honest I am happier. Not saying FRFR doesn't work, but for me and what I am doing, I prefer the normal amp route.
  10. Was fine on the gig. With another cab it would be enough for most sensible situations. I was expecting the head to be pretty hot to touch but it was just a little warm and it was running at 75% I’d say. much like the orange Markbass speakers, the cone excursion was very visible……
  11. Ok so tonight is a massive room, big PA. Often I find that stage rigs can get lost in these situation. However after sound check this is fine as expected. Yes it’s turned up to about 75%, but into a single 8 ohm 12 at less than 200 watts it’s fine. I can hear it. In smaller rooms it will be plenty.
  12. Is the TE cab 8 ohm or 4 ohm? I’m curious to try the matching Warwick Cabs to be fair…
  13. I’ve not heard it in the studio. Wasn’t listening for it to be honest
  14. Here is a photo. Cute, as daughter would say.
  15. I shall report. Note that I always have PA support, and would not expect a single 12" cab to dominate in a large room. The bands I work in have good musicians who play at sensible levels, so I do expect it to cover the stage for everyone, and to easily match a drummer who plays musically. Based on my findings at home, it will be fine. I will be more curious to see how this particular brand of compact head "feels" in comparison to, say, a Littlemark amp. Of course these are 300w at 8 ohms, but having owned a couple in the past I always found them to run out of steam and heft before you would expect. We shall see. I don't expect the well of endless power that you get from an ABM 600 or the like. The only Class D that has come close to that was a LittleMArcus 1000 watter - now that was really really powerful.
  16. So I thought I would report my findings here. I just bought the Warwick iPro - the 280/180 watt version. Went for this over the standard one for the extra power. Not gigged it yet, but gave it a full volume try yesterday with my new (to me) Ashdown RM112 cab - so 8 ohms. I have to say it is very nice. Seems to be plenty of power and weight to the sound, and I am very pleased. Gig this weekend with it. Will report back, but honestly it will be fine. Very will built, and nice and simple And the cab also is very nice indeed. Cheers for now. Chris
  17. Bought a cab from Matt - good deal, totally as described, a smooth transaction all the way Thanks Chris
  18. I'd have this but for the location.

    FRFR

I’ve just posted in another thread how I use a single RCF 732a with a Sansamp Q Strip. It sounds great but I’m going to return to a small bass combo. Lighter, simpler, and made for the job out of the box.
  20. This is my most recent incarnation. The Q Strip is great, although obviously no drive option. In fact this was after sound check. I got bored waiting for 3 hours for the food service to end so we could do the Xmas party thing, so packed the tuner away and just had the Sansamp there using phantom power. Was in the PA too. The cab is an RCF Art 732a. It’s a bit too big for my liking, but that said it was a city centre gig and I was able to walk it all from the car park. See pic
  21. @Ashdown Engineering does this have a ground lift switch on the DI?
