  1. I’ve got a four string of this exact bass. Battery cover broken, bit battered but it sounds bloody ace.
  2. I’m not sure yet to be honest, I can’t work out whether or not I want a tweeter or not. I might take you up on the offer yet, thank you. Ive compared the sound from the DI (in my studio) with the sound from the cab. The DI sounds clear a flat, in comparison to the mid hump of the cab. That said, this characteristic of the cab may well help with onstage audibility. Alex has recommended the BB2 and I am tempted to agree with him. I’d love to take advantage of the notblackfriday discount but I have no more spare cash right now.
  3. So here’s my new to me rig. The head sounds massive. In my opinion this is Markbass’s best cab (size vs sound) but it is a little coloured with the classic mid range hump so a Barefaced is to follow I think.
  4. Splendid. And how soundeth the dinosaur? And the rig?
  5. I have returned to Ashdown, head at least, after years of Markbass. Very happy, I used to love my ABM500, now have the 600 and it’s lovely. I think the woolly comments used to come from people who didn’t disengage the scooped “shape” feature, which sounds poor in my opinion. yeah so, thumbs up from me.
  6. Slightly odd thread, and I’m fully open to ridicule and indeed welcome it...but... Has anyone got any images of an Ashdown ABM head mounted upon various Barefaced cabs? BB2, Two10, Super Compact? Just curious to see how the overhang looks. Do your worst..
  7. Bought Wayne’s ABM head today. Splendid fellow, met in a car park as is standard practice. Exchanged goods for cash. Stood in the cold for a bit. Came home. Stongly recommenced.
  8. Great amps. And not really too heavy either. Big full loud sound.
  9. So, I’ve got an old Yamaha BBn4. A few years ago I took it apart and rebuilt it with GandL Jazz pickups. It’s quite nice, but I noticed recently that one of the bridge screw holes in the body is stripped so the screw won’t tighten properly. I am intended to do the toothpick and wood glue fix that works for strap buttons, but just wondered if anyone had a better idea?
  10. Nice, if I had £725 I’d be having this. Good luck with the sale.
  11. 102hf is Markbass’s best cab in my experience.
  12. Tony is a legend. Sold him an amp, shipped it, he paid. Great comms and a great guy. Deal with confidence
  13. I can heartily recommend this fine fellow. Having arranged a convenient meet up to do the deal we both succumbed to a closed M1 in both directions. Four hours later, having met, I am home. Jack not only travelled further than originally agreed, but also included a nice speaker cable. So, he’s a legend. many thanks chris

  15. Actually the PSA 2 looks pretty cool to be fair.
  16. True, and to be fair I could always use my radial Jdi at the end of the chain. After all these years when all is said and done I now favour simplicity. The stomp was great, but I don’t need that level of features. In the last I’d have bought one just for the sake of it, but these days I just need what works for me. So, when my combo sells I will get either a VT bass DI (maybe the one for sale here), or. BDDI (which I’ve owned in the past and loved) or maybe a bass fly rig, simply as there is a basic compressor in there too. All these have xlr and jack outs, so makes things super simple.
  17. Update - the stomp only has jack outputs and no separate xlr. I want this separate output. SansAmp bddi of vt bass DI will be perfect for the job I feel, and half the price. The helix units are of course excellent but the stomp at least doesn’t fit my needs
  18. I’ve tried a stomp. Liked it. But it’s £400 so...good call tho
  19. Indeed, I actually though it HAD mentioned it....as I do indeed use them sometimes. But some bands I dep with need an onstage sound and don’t have the monitors to cope if I don’t take a cab. Good call tho,
