1. Not at all flimsy, I’ve gigged guitar fly rigs extensively and they are super bits of kit, solid etc. And sound great to the point that I sold all my amps.
2. Thanks, yes it’s very very good. I am sure that if I only played bass then it would be staying. However I gig bass, drums and guitar, so need to keep things as multi purpose as possible, hence wanting to get some of my other stuff to do double duty, that is literally the only reason I will let this go, it is the ultimate combo.
3. Thanks everyone, it seems EVERYONE is doing it. I have done this loads on guitar - usually a Tech 21 Flyrig Cali version, straight to the desk, but in that band we had a digital desk so I had iPhone control of my monitor mix. I would sometimes use a tech 21 power engine as a monitor cab for the guitar, with an xlr out of that to the desk, the advantage of this unit being that the xlr was unaffected by cab volume changes. This is the only thing is wouldn’t want about taking an xlr out from the PA cab monitor- would the level sent to the desk not be changed if I altered the volume on the cab? Actually it wouldn’t be, I don’t think, but still a bit of a pain as it is round the back. HX stomp good idea. However I love tech21 stuff. The Fly Rig Cali is brilliant for guitar - I don’t own a proper guitar amp now it is that good, so a BDDI or maybe the bass fly rig appeals.
4. I bought this from Bass Direct earlier this year. It had been in the shop on display. I’ve gigged it twice and that’s it. I bought it for some specific work, and it is great. Loud, clear, light, versatile etc. On the two occasions I have used it it has performed faultlessly as expected. I am now moving it on - all my bass work involves DI to the PA, and I’m going down the route of a powered cab for my onstage monitor (or in ears). I would love to keep it but could use the funds for another project. So, it is in the excellent condition you would expect given its minimal usage. I would far prefer collection or meet up. I do have the original packaging however, but not sure on the cost of postage. I have dealt a lot on here in the past but nothing much recently to indicate good feedback. I am sure that a few other long standing members could vouch for me though. So, who wants this great, little used amp? chris
5. Aha there is a cunning plan, nice work. Seems like the way forward, I’ll try it on a gig. Look out for an Alain Caron combo in mint condition fs soon maybe.
6. I’ve tried it in the studio just now. Sounds really good, full range etc, only issue is that the controlling of the volume is not ideal as it’s on the back of the cab. Need to see if there is a preamp pedal where the volume knob only changes the Jack output and not the di. I think from memory that possibly the sansamp works like this.edit no it doesn’t the level changes both. Actual volume was fine. I have 2 cabs so it would be monster with both
7. Morning all, long time no post... I know that this will technically work fine, but wondering if anyone did this as a long term solution: I have a Markbass Alain Caron 121 combo which is great and all that. However, as usual I find that a BDDI or similar is needed to dirty up and vintage up the tone a little. I pretty much always go into the PA too. I also have a couple of active PA DB PA cabs. These are only 10” plus tweeter, but are decent ones and rated at about 350rms. They sound decent. I wonder if anyone runs an onstage set up of a preamp pedal direct into an active PA cab for their stage sound, and runs a DI from the Preamp pedal out to the desk? As I say, in know this will “work” and can’t really see why it should be a good solution. I could of course simply try it, but I don’t have a pre amp pedal currently. edit - I’ve remembered I have a radial passive DI box, so I can try it with this - bass into the box, xlr out to desk, and trs pass through to the Pa cab. Bass is active (stingray) so that pre will work. Only won’t have the grit, but at least the experiment can work. Just thinking out loud really. Why would I want to do this? Well, I’m all for streamlining gear, and if I don’t need the Markbass Combo I will sell it. chris
8. Hi do you per chance have any images of this please? thanks chris
9. Messages replied too. Looking to audition towards end of July, any more for any more?
10. Ahoy all. I'm occupying the drum chair in a Nottingham based function/covers/party band. The band has been going for a good few years, and I was one of the founder members, on bass. I left and 6 months ago rejoined on drums. Our bass player has just handed in his notice, for nothing more than family reasons. It's an amicable departure and he is not leaving us in the lurch. However, we must seek a permanent replacement. We are a good band, with a lot of individual and collective experience. Typical gigs are functions, weddings, pubs, parties. The usual type of thing really. Gig frequency varies from month to month, the average being 4 ish per month. However we don't tend to turn decent paid work down, so in June for example we have 8, although this is not typical. Some rehearsal will be necessary to get the repertoire up to speed. Other than that we occasionally rehearse to do new material etc, www.splinter-band.co.uk is the website. Please note that the demo is not up to scratch, and some of the personal info and photos are out of date but you'll get the idea of the type of songs etc. We need a good player, versatile, good gear, transport, reliable bla bla bla. It's a semi pro / pro band whatever that means..... Backing vocals nice but not essential. It's a fun band that plays well and does some good gigs. I'm handing initial responses, so please respond by email to [email protected] if you are interested. Ta v much Chris

13. So, I have a mint condition one of these up for grabs. I'm simply not using it at all, so it might as well go. Thought I would float it on here in case there is any interest Chris
14.
When did you find out? If it was clear when the booking was made then I suppose you are contractually obliged - but if you only found out today - I would tell them to go look for another band, at one day's notice
This. If it is in the booking contract then you are stuck. But if not, I would not do it unless they change the terms.
15.
Hi Chris, would you be interested in a swap with a 'normal' sized Gramma Pad? I've got a Generation 1 Barefaced Bigone which is just a bit too big for the regular pad.
Thanks, but I have got a normal sized one already.
16. So, having sold my big cab, I no longer need the big Gramma Pad. Is is basically what it is. Very good condition, I have actually used it, so cannot say it is box fresh, but there are barely any signs of use. It can be collected from Nottingham. Or I guess I could fashion a box and post it at your expense. Cheers Chris
17. Update, cab now gone. So, all is done here
18. On hold pending inspection and collection today.
19.
Wouldn't my head be overkilling that cab? Thank you
Only if you turned it up to the max. I think it would sound great.
20.
Is this the painted or tolex covered version of the Neox?
Tolex covered.
21. Bump for the neox212 cab. £350 ono
