1. I'm wondering whether to spring for a streamliner and small cab for gigs where my big rig is too much. My gbe750 is very loud and lovely, but I've not done a gig yet where is is more than ticking over
2. My cover is tapered up at the rear bottom where the wheels are. You thus have to put it on the right way round
3. Definitely got punch. I used mine mine with a neo 210 ebs 4 ohm cab mostly, and it never struggled, where in similar gigs my lm2 ran out of steam. You cannot beat old school heavy amps for this. And it's not even that heavy.
4. Ok, I can help, having owned a 350, and also markbass and genz little heads. The 350 is easily as loud, into 4 ohms, if not louder. It's not got the balls of my gbe750 but it's a great great head.
5.
So I guess for now I am resigning the amp and cab to the one rehearsal a week and the one or two gigs a month. I have a headphone amp so I'll use that for now until I can resolve something.
Not trying to be funny or provocative here, but what exactly is there to resolve? I think we can all see that it's too loud, so accept it and move on with a quieter or silent solution. Sorry.
6.
Really? Did you take the time to read up on noise and nuisance at common law? If you had something tells me you'd already know the answer to your problem, and that's to turn the big rig off and shut the f*ck up.
This plus several. End if story.
7. I practice through a small mixer and a set of small foster pm01 monitors. Great sound, and quiet. I actually prefer using headphones for proper practice. Helps to iron out sloppiness.
8.
I once had complaints about the noise in my old house from the female students that lived next door . They hammered on the door one day and complained that the "noise" of my bass playing was " stopping them from studying ". Students studying ? This country has gone f***ing mad , I thought to myself . To be honest with you , it was a blow to my ego more than anything else , because previously I had imagined them enjoying their daily dose of of scales, modes and blistering '70's funk grooves , and I thought they might be speculating on whether I was someone famous . At first I was tempted to dismiss their complaints and carry on regardless , but after thinking about it , I could see they had as much right as anyone to complain , and I started playing through headphones , and now that is my preferred method at home . There is a certain point in life where you have to become an adult , see past your own selfishness and have some empathy for others . What I do regret is not taking that oppotunity to mention to the girls next door that I was regulaly being kept awake by the noise of one of them having sex in a very loud and enthusiastic manner . Often it was getting to be after 4.AM when I eventually fell asleep exhausted where I sat with the glass placed against the adjoining wall still propped agaiinst my ear .
Haha legend. Pmsl
9. You live in a flat. I know this won't be popular, but you should be using headphones or a far smaller practice friendly rig. Sorry. Bass travels as we all know, and if I was your neighbour I'd not be happy either. I live in a detached house, and I am still very careful with the volume from my teaching studio, use electric drums, and never use my my rigs guitar or bass.
10.
She's got so many nice basses, she must be a really good saver or have a well paid job! Is that a 10xx or 20xx yamaha?
On Facebook she says it is a 2024. Stu Zender also gave her a Warwick I think.
11. Ok folks gentle bump. I'm open to reasonable offers. Trades wise I can add a bit of cash. Interested in Jazz or Precision basses, USA preferably, but try me. Or the G and L versions. Stingray or Sterling would float the boat also. Chris
12.
BB424x...?
It's the BB2024x full fat one. Ace basees
13. I've just tried one of these. Ace. I may be in touch. Need to sell something though.
14. http://youtu.be/ftQFj7LnaRQ I just did a quick version on my P with flats on it to show the difference in tone.
15.
The man himself, with his own line - Co wrote the song as well. P Bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5QYSu9xaTE
Thanks lowdown, that is ace.
16. That yamaha basically IS a P bass if you use that pickup. Great bass, I want one.
17. UPDATE. I am offering this for sale again, as I have seen something I need to raise some funds for. Thanks all Chris
18. My opinion is that, in spite of them being excellent players, and tight as a unit, it's boring. Like I say, that is my view. I see it as an academic musical exercise. A very good one, but it won't sell, as there is no discernible hook to attract the masses.
19.
Coupled with a SubKick?! :P:P
Haha. My Genista needs no help lol
20.
Better Mr Dark Lord. This will be night and day compared to the Bose system. Yup. If Mackie did a 24/32 channel version of it, they would kill the entry level digital desk market I am sure. Defo! Drummers love a bit of it. PS - TDL - read about setting up the compressors and gates for your mics and you'll be able to push that much better without getting to feedback. If you haven't got a bassdrum mic, a cheap dedicated bass drum mic is what you need. Chucking a SM58 in there won't do it! Of couse, me writing this is all meaningless if you still have me on block!
I'd go for an AKG d112 used if in a budget, I uses a Shure Beta 52a or an Audix D6. Personally I prefer the Shure, so it is the one I own, but you can't go wrong with the AKG for your needs.
21. Excellent, very curious to hear your thoughts once used in anger. Is this the desk you can control with an iPad? You will DEFINITELY reap the benefits of micing the kick and dribbling a bit of bass through too. Can't see why your drummer would need convincing in any case, it will be a vast improvement. Well done.
22.
Would you be Interested in my add . Great Bass , slim neck...
Sorry, no, but thanks anyway Bump
23. So, last night, on a whim, I didn't take my Genz rig to my gig. Instead, I used: Schertler Unico acoustic combo Schertler "Bass" sub unit. I used my P bass direct in to it, and took a DI to the PA as usual. The amp set up is for acoustic guitars and acoustic basses. It is full range like a PA system would be,. And it sounded EPIC. I mean, really really good. Studio quality, with a great low end, with proper bass fundamental. Not massively loud, but it was a revelation. In comparison with my (excellent IMHO) GB rig, it was fuller and cleaner and deeper. So what is going on there then? Clearly my cab is colouring things, and possibly rolling of the proper lows? This it's he sound I want, basically a full range studio sound in my rig. Is such a thing available? I could have used a little more volume, so the Schertler rig is not a long term option.
