[/quote] Yes, but "key" and "home" do not necessarily have to be the same. Is not one way of thinking is that "key" is "parent scale" is "set of notes"? Key signature IS the key. Or you can think about it as per dloyds posts. Nether is wrong.

  3. It is D Major, technically. So it is IV G, I D, V A Which is what A Mixolydian is - 5th mode of D Major. This also fits the Em later int he song. That is chord ii of D major. The "key" refers to the parent scale from which all the chords are derived. It does not have to be the chord that a song starts or finishes on. So the Sweet Home Alabama referenced above uses chords D, C, G. To be technically correct this is a song in G Major, as those chords are V D, IV C, and I G of the key of G. Hope that helps a bit. It's quite hard to explain it properly on a message board to be honest. With my student we go through what is called the diatonic harmonisation of the major scale, which is essentially showing how the main chords in any key are formed for that parent scale.

  7. To clarify. I never use charts, for anything. But I am aware that I have the ability to learn retain songs quickly and easily if I learn them first off and don't write them down. Thqt way the chart never become a crutch. The most I will do is write keys on the set list but that will only be for dep gigs. But I know I am lucky, it is just something I can "do".
  8. Use the ipad with PDF scans that you scan into it using docscan app. I find that if I learn a song form memory in the first place it sticks, but if I have written if down forts, it takes me a while to get it in my head.

  16. Hi Not sure what model these are, as they are still in a bass, currently at my luthier being removed. They are 5 string, soap bar style active pickups, and I will post more info and pics when I get them back later this week, but just a heads up in case anyone is interested. Chris

  21. Fair points. But look at the prices that many high end cabs sell for on here. It might just be me, but my perception is that many such cabs seem to settle at £300 - £450 ish. Ok, so maybe £350 ;-/ but it is not what I think thank is important, rather that the market will decide. I am not 100% with mine (earlier one), but it'll do.

  23. They would be worth what the market decides. The only way to know the figure if for someone to try and sell one at, say £500. See if someone buys it. I know where you are coming from, and it is interesting, I paid £500 for a prev model neox212t. That was once a £800 cab too, but I'd not expect to get more than about £300 for it. I base that figure on my usual calculation of 2/3 of the shop price at the time. This usually seems to be about right. So, valuing yours at £300 I am actually being generous in my calculation given what you paid for it. Ethically, if someone tries to sell one at a price which is too high, no one will buy it. Personally if I had just bought one of these at £380 and wanted to sell it now, I'd want £300.
  24. I'd say that if anyone wishes to sell, they do what they would do with any other product. Supply and demand, and simple economics will determine the true market value. If it is priced too high no one will buy it, simple. I cannot se any moral or ethical issues at all. The market will decide the true and fair price for a transaction in which both parties are happy. Personally I think you'd get £300. That is what I would pay, for a used but as new cabinet that retails at £380. It doesn't matter what it used to retail at.
