1. Signed sealed delivered. Guitar and bass. Descending F mixolydian. Ie 5th mode of Bb
 2.
Fantastically gifted players but I find their arrangements boring and technical for the sake of it. We all know they can play play but they have about as much soul as a Sibelius midi arrangement IMO.
Yep.
 3.
It's very good, lots of thrills for musicians YES, and, I sincerely hope, non-musicians I AM NOT SO SURE. I WOULD SAY NOT TO BE HONEST. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nls1HtXQe8E
4. Our guitarist is well into these. I am vey impressed technically, but I won't choose to listen to it. It bores me to be honest. But it say again, there is some mighty talent on show. However, today I have been teaching the solo at the end of Dire Straits, Tunnel Of Love. Knopfler uses such feel and taste, and it is not that hard technically. But it MOVES me. And that is MUSIC. in my opinion, obv. Carry on
 5. I like a bass drum to be big fat and low. But with high end definition from the beater contact. Like a big fat slam.
 6. Trouble with a heavy right foot is that the drum loses finesse. Better to play at medium and varying volumes, play it like a proper instrument, allow the beater to bounce off the head. Way more musical in feel and sound. A lot of drummers don't or can't do this. It's something I teach. So, mic it up. Way off topic though. Lol
 7. Yep, my kick is tuned low, ie lowest viable head tension. And a small flat sheet just touching the bottom of both heads. It sounds massive. It's a Premier Genista from the 90s, really heavy birch, one of the finest bass drums (in fact kits) I've owned, and I've played them all over the years. I still mic it up though, using a Shure Beta 52. Sounds H U G E.
 8.
There is no need to bring barefaced into this!
Harsh and unfair. But I lol'd. Haha
 9.
Great marketing but not so great (understatement of the year) in practice. I know, I've been there in a band that bought into the concept. I thought it was bad then and my thinking proved to be right. The best thing the OP could do is unload it, not mess around with the latest fads and buy a tranditional setup that has been proven as a workable solution for many, many years.
Yes. In a duo I play in, just 2 acoustics, and vox, we sometimes setup up our active tops behind us, to save the need for a monitor on the floor. It works in quieter settings, but that is all.
 10.
Hey - I'm a bass player! The drummer can fight his own corner ...
PMSL. But on a serious note, if you cannot hear him alongside your beautiful valve tone, the rhythm section will not sound as great as it might otherwise. WE ALWAYS MIC THE KICK. Full stop. Even if the only other stuff actually in the FOH is in the end vocals, the kick is alway there too. Even if slightly. Sounds sh*t otherwise.
 11.
yes definitely buy another one and put that behind the band too it's sure to help cut feedback!
To be fair, I thought that Bose say that this rig is SUPPOSED to go behind the band? This is why I suspect the OP has it set up as such. I can't see it working for a rock band though.
 12.
I always wonder why bands do this.... they seem to roll all the top end off a bass drum and create some wooly 'wump' sound. No definition..... let's hear some click ;o)
Because they don't have ears. Best practice is to leave EQ flat and only tweak if required. Don't just twiddle knobs because they are there. Further, engage high pass filter on everything except kick drum, bass drum, poss low tom (I don't) and keys. I even go further and lower the bass frequencies on the vocal channels and guitar channels. Imaging the sound as a vertical set of shelves, upon which everything sits frequency wise. You don't want too many things on the same shelf. However, this is rambling off topic, soz.
 13.
The first thing he ever told me was that you have to mic a kick drum for it to actually sound like a drum and not a dull thump.
Yes! Well put. It is surprising given how lid a kit can sound, but it is a fact.
 14.
What about the kick drum?
Yes, I'd echo this too. Kick drums un- amplified are not full or deep sounding enough to push through a full pelt back line. I know, it might seem incredible, but it is true, My other life is as a pro drummer by the way. My first pro work was on drums, from pits to large shows, and millions of pubs, clubs and functions. So I stand by this, sorry. And whenever I am I a pub watching a full electric band with tops only, it sounds "ok" but the kick drum is light in thee mix. A bass rig can fill a room, a kick drum won't. End of story.
 15. For my 2p, even in pub gigs we use a sub. It's not that it is strictly necessary, but we feel that it helps to push the kick drum through the mix with a little more authority (it is a top line drum kit, btw), as well as giving the lead guitarist the chance to be clearly heard without deafening all and sundry on the stage. One of the basic principles of live sound is to have manageable stage volumes. Thus our back line is generally pretty quiet, balanced with a musically sensitive drummer who is not a big hitter. So, more often than not, everything will be in the PA, even in small venues. That way, I can control the FOH mix far better, and we are not loud on stage. I could never achieve this kind of controlled meaty sound only with tops, and only with vocals in the PA. It sounds very thin and lacking authority. Poor sound. I'd be looking at a four box system. Two tops, and two subs, and would only use one sub for smaller pubs. If bigger pubs, where a fuller or louder presence is needed, I'd use both subs. Don't care what brand, just listen to a few. In my view, even in a small pub, bands sound thin without that low end push that subs give, unless it is an acoustic act. I wouldn't dream of gigging without one sub at least. Oh, I use a Mixwizard 16 channel desk with no global EQ for either monitor sends or FOH. (If the past I have had a GL2400 without outboard EQ, but it is too much for a self op PA). It is not idea in this respect, but because I set it up properly and have manageable stage volumes we don't have feedback problems. 9 gigs in 10 I do the sound, and this is the case. However, to illustrate that there is a skill involved in it, occasionally I switch to drums, and thus one of the other chaps does the PA. He is not as experienced or skilled in it as me, and invariably he adjusts something incorrectly which leads to feedback of some sort. Or, if we get issues due to the stage or venue or whatever, he cannot fix it without messing something else up, whereas I can sort the problem straight away. I am not presuming that the OP does not have the level of skill required, as that would be un-gentlemanly. However, what I say above has been learnt from 20 years doing self op PA in all manner of venues, and operating my gear on a hired out basis for other bands. Hope this helps. Chris.
 16.
Yeah. It's not the most tasteful guitar I've ever heard either.
But it is far from murdered. They sound great.
 17.
Turn the guitar down dude...
Yeah. It's not the most tasteful guitar I've ever heard either.
 18. I've had a 4u gator full size for eons. It has held all manner of stuff from light to very heavy PA amps. Currently has my GBE750 and a korg DTR1 tuner. Gets my vote.
 19.
Also Lozz there are loads of bc members running a neox2x12T cab not all with genz amps either, probably one of the nearest cabs to a barefaced 2x12 and even alex rates them as a good cab design!
I've got one. Good cab,
 20.
Is this still for sale or are you keeping it?
I guess it's for sale...bit reluctant to post it though, as I have not box or hard case for it.
 21. I had a compact on trial ages ago and my then Ashdown ABM 500 matched it well.
 22.
Would you say that this Has this got a good hearty neck on it?!
Depends what you mean by hearty. It's a wide nut, but the profile front to back is medium to my hands, or even bordering on slim. It is NOT like a baseball bat at all. Let's settle on slim but wide. It is really easy to play, but as stated above my low grade tendonitis is the only reason to sell it. Come and try it.
 23.
I think personally, it's statements like that that wind people up who have a choice over whether they like them.
Amen. Preaching is not the way.
 24. Get the bf as you have a month trial or money back. Keep the bergs and trial the bf, and then sell the bergs or return the bf. easy.
