1. they are the vocal line - see where the words are written, that is the singing tune
2. yeah i had thought of that as an option too. they don't come up that often, and when they do, the 2*10 are not that much less £ than a 4*10, but worth a thought. Gonna do some pics of the stuff and do a proper thread later
3. narrowing down to : Roland D210 combo Ashdown Evo 500 210 combo Hartke Hydrive 5210 Any thoughts? Are these inferior to my MB rig?
4.
Sansamp BDDI and an active monitor wedge.
bit of a hijack, but what monitor would be good?
5. Ok, i am a long time Markbass user, but am now gigging more on guitar, and occasionally on bass on "dep" gigs. So, I need some guitar bits, and have a very nice MArkbass rig sitting under-used. I have another thread about this being maybe fs/ft. Littlemark2, Korg DTR1 tuner, and STd 104HF cab. It strikes me that I only really need a decent combo now, and could do with raising a bit of cash by swapping. My query is really that I am not sure what to look at. It cannot be too dear, since I reckon in total my MB gear is worth £900 ish (?), and I would like some cash out of the move, other wise I might as well not bother changing. I am pretty sure I might have thought of/heard of most options, but I throw it to the forum to have a quick "brainstorm" please. £500, reliable, quality product. If I could find a MB 102 combo at that price i would have it, but they rarely come up. New or used. Head and cab also considered. Fairly powerful. Thanks Chris
6. I have got a box of innards from an Ashdown 2*10. I bought them 3-4 years ago I think, with the idea of constructing a cab, but never got around to it. They are upstairs at the mo, so not sure exactly what I have in terms of model numbers etc, but can easily find out if anyone is interested. I have 2 * 10" blue line speakers, a tweeter, and wires/crossover. Anyone interested? Price wise I have no idea - £60 the lot??
7. did this sale complete?
8. I do it. I am lucky in that I teach and gig on bass, elec guitar, classical guitar and drums, all to a high standard, so it allows me a very full teaching schedule and enough gigs that I have to turn stuff down sometimes. Not sure if I could do it if bass was my only thing though. Reliability is the other thing. It must be treated as a BUSINESS and you must not let people down. And be smart, punctual, professional, enthusiastic.
9. This has probably been said, but, I love the basic 3eq Stingray, mainly for it's simplicity, reliability, and good solid tone. It is not exactly no frills (I would not call 3 EQ "totally simple"), but I always know that whatever the venue and situation, however difficult, I will get a good sound, with very little hassle. All personal choice though, but whenever I strap something else on, I miss what the SR 4 (or indeed 5) gives me. I do like Warwicks, and would like to try a $$, but for me, the Stingray is where it is at.
10. pm'd you earlier today
11. I always use Santana Oye Como Va, A Dorian
12. bloody hell, mate, quality. I need to give your gear a bloody good try. Whats your new band?
13. Nice one. Panther has heard this rig. It is great, and will only go for the right thing
14. update - would trade the cab for 2 aguilar 112 cabs, DB or GS
15. Right, I have been using Markbass for ages - I had one of the original heavy silver amps ages ago. I really like it, and my current rig is a LM2 and a Std 104HF 4*10 cab. Excellent in every way. However, my current musical activities see me playing bass less frequently than guitar. I mainly do dep work on bass, and I am thinking about swapping to a combo or smaller rig of some sort, in order to enhance portability and also raise a bit of cash in the process. SO, while this is by no means certain, if someone were to want a LM2, vgc, and a STD 104HF vgc with cover, and a korg DTR1 rack tuner, I might be tempted to sell, either as a whole, or in parts. Price wise, £50 for tuner, £380 for LM2, £500 for cab. Based Nottingham. Or I could do the whole rig, ready to roll in a gator 4u rack case for £950. Awesome rig at an awesome price. So, if there is any interest let me know and I will see what happens. Thanks Chris
16. you mean I am NOT with them - the timewasters that is..
17. just worth a mention here - [email protected] is nothing to do with my band - www.splinter-band.co.uk also in Nottingham, to avoid any confusion
18.
Still looking - there are definitely 2 gigs up for grabs and I definitely need somebody who can sing and play - good rhythm player is essential but not such a problem if you don't want to take lead duties.
I can play it, no probs, lead and rhythm, but if you need lead vox I am not your man
19. I teach the Rockschool Grades. Grade 4 is a good solid standard, and how easy you find it depends on where you are at the moment. If I were you I would ask the teacher to see a couple of the pieces before you get the book. That way you will have a feel for what is involved. Your teacher should be happy to let you see what is involved first. Tell them you are not sure about the level, and they should understand. With my students I often work through a grade book without entering them for an exam, particularly if they have never done it before. Then when they know what is involved and are ready, they can be entered for the next grade up. TI is important that the student is confident and happy, and not anxious as this can have a detrimental effect on learning. Maybe pop into a music shop and have a look at a few of the grade books?
20. both pete and shock above are of course right. I agree, but no one had yet made the point that I did. WE will never know who is to blame probably. I would have known there was something wrong if I had tested it, but then I know Stingrays. Pretty tricky if you dont maybe Dunno - I will keep my nose out. C
21. on another note, and obviously this is nowt to do with me, but it is worth saying (I think anyway) that wherever the "fault" (for want of a better word) lies, the bass was advertised for £700. I do not know the actual sale price, but this is a great price for a SR5. My tech could rewire the bass for £50 tops, so once done I would be totally satisfied that all is well, and have spent only £750. I bought a Tokai Loverock 2 guitar on ebay last year, and it had dodgy pots. I took it to my tech, spent £70, new pots, orange drops, totally rewired. Total expenditure still a great deal. I am not saying that things should not work when you buy them, but I tend to take all my stuff to my tech to fiddle with on purchase anyway. Like I say, nowt to do with me, but that would be where I would be coming from. If the parties concerned wish me to remove this I will, but I thought it might lend a different perspective. Chris
22. I have got some ER20s. Never really persevered with them, as I felt that they attenuated too much - all too quiet. But I am going to try them again, and see if I can get used to them.
23. nice one. I like it. Is it a 3 eq SR4? I am after on e of these amps, but it is interesting to note how close the sansamp can get to these tones - the BDDi into my Littlemark 2, on 50/50 blend is mighty close. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
24. read this at a gig on friday (singer bought it along). They loved it. Used the 800 digital chassis, with a front ported 4*10.
