Well, if you paid for a 16 ounce steak and were served an 8 ounce steak would you be happy just because it tastes good? It certainly is no more unethical, but also is no more excusable. I really have to wonder about the personal values of those who not only seem not to to care when they've been defrauded, but even defend the actions of the defrauder.
Not that I have one of these, but I couldn't agree more. It's inexcusable. And it IS different to the MPG example, since although hard to achieve at least you can try to get close to the published MPG figures, but in the TC case the amp simply is not 450Watts, full stop. I won't be buying one. It's pretty black white to me.

To get the best match of a preamp with a power amp, what do you have to look at? Is is the voltage of the output of the pre/input of the power amp, or the impedance of the respective inputs and outputs. For example PJB Bass Buddy states output voltage of 1.2V, and preamp output impedance of 20kohms QSC PLX 3102 - input sensitivty 1.23Vrms, input impedance 20kohm bal, 10kohm unbal. So which do we match up? Cheers Chris

I guess the bass terror maybe is not classed as lightweight? That same source measured it at 500 actual rms watts so they have cracked it? Or is that a traditional psu?
Well Dan, having read all the reponses on here and on other forums it appears the ER15's are a popular choice. So, I'm booked into to Boots on Friday to get some moulds done. Worth mentioning ,if you join their Priority club, which you can do when ordering and arranging the fitting it automatically allows you to take on advantage on the discounted offers, if this case it should save me £25, think they are coming in at £148.00 or thereabouts. Must admit i'm a bit wary but, i have to do it simples! I wanna rock till I die! I'll let everyone know my thoughts when i get them to a gig. Tony
Yes, I forgot to mention the priority club discount. Honestly, you will not regret it. Just stick with it as you get used to it - it will take a few gigs (did with me), but do not give up, you will grow to love it. I will NOT play without mine.

Good one. Sophie puts down some great drums. Must be ace to play bass alongside her.

good player

There is a good one in Derby on ebay too....

I've played the Epi version - Miles has one Ady - it is great, really old school. And don't worry about passive - it's the way forward for old school. My P bass (passive) and Stingray outputs are not far off the same. Love the Gibson though, get one bought!
Yes! Infact I positively rely on my ER15/25's for singing! I've not used a vocal monitor for my own voice since using these 'plugs and my fellow musicians have reported that they have noticed a dramatic improvement in the tone and pitching of my voice. Ok, so I'm no Myles Kennedy, but even so - I can run my own harmonies without getting confuzzed! Here's my trick - I select the value of filter so that the music 'outside of my head' is near to the same volume or a bit quieter than my 'voice inside my head' if that makes sense. I can hear my bass clearly and I pitch my harmonies against my bass NOT the other band members. Thus I can concentrate on getting my notes right and leave the other guys to concentrate on theirs. Its particularly useful as I am 'one of those' who loves the sound of 3 and 4 part harmonies, but whilst I am busy enjoying them, I screw up - so sadly, it's best if I cant hear what the other guys are doing as much as what I am. I therefore ask for no vocals in my monitors at all! Hang in there with the plugs, I had a similar problem, but I found listening back to recordings helped me identify what I needed to adjust when I sing. Hope this helps!
exactly, keep at it, it will come.
Singing underwater? Are you a whale, perhaps, or a dolphin? If I tried that I would drown.
lol I'm not a Dolphin, no. I mean like lying in the bath. You need to keep you mouth out of the water....

Once I got used to them I actually find it very much easier to sing. It is like singing underwater for me, I can pitch really easily, and I don't strain my voice either, which I used to do without them if monitoring was poor. So for me I don't even have to worry about my vocal level in the wedges, as I can hear myself perfectly.

I think everyone has said the same thing, but I will echo it ER15 or ER25. I got mine done at Boots (one of the large ones with an audiologist - Boots Hearing Care). I got the 15 filters, but they war not strong enough when I was drumming, so I got the 25s for that. But for bass and guitar playing the 15s are fine for me at least. Took me a few gigs to get used to them, but to be frank the fact that I had shelled out for them made me get used to them, so as not to waste the money. And now, I cannot play without them. In loud pub venues I put them in when I arrive, and don't take them out until I leave at the end of the night. They turn everyone down nicely but you can still hear quiet things too, and have normal conversations. YOU MUST GET SOME ASAP. I would sell a bass just to keep mine. They are that good and that important. Chris
Used them religiously for a while until I tried DR, but have recently gone back due to DR's current stocking issue, wanted to go try Elixers but no where local stocks them. A smudge cheaper for a forever consistently good quality string, not to found of the slap sound but at the same time I don't do it enough to worry, excellent puck and fingerstyle sound. Reasonable amount of tension compared to others which I like, still flexible enough for easy vibrato and bends. Last a fair bit aswell, probably helped by the crisp packet packaging, they don't clean up as well as DR used to do. Still going to try Elixers when the opportunities arise.
Hot Rox in Sneinton have Elixir strings in.
Thing is we all know certain parts of the set up so just get in with our bit whilst mercilessly ripping the piss out if each other
Defo we do that too

Actually it is worth saying that during break down take time to put it all back properly, coil leads nicely etc, take out any leads that don't work for repair etc. This I reckon saves alot of time next time you set up.

Too long. We are drums, bass, lead gtr, and 2 front men who alternately play gtr and or sing, so basically 3 gtr amps in total. Often we have a full lights truss and backdrop. So everyone has a job. I and one other put the truss up. Then he puts lights and backdrop on while I rig the Pa and monitors and desk. Meanwhile drummer sets his sh*t up, lead does his and other singer does power, mic leads and stands. Drummer then puts his mics into desk and I throw my rig up in 5 mins and di. At this point final touches are being put to the lights and if we are providing the DJ too this is plugged in. I am at this point line checking the Pa and then off we go quick soundcheck I go out front and tweak desk. An hour to hour and a half once loaded in. We are a pretty well oiled machine to be fair but it comes with practice. We accept that some of the band do less and know less and we get on with it without standing about chatting.

I used Richard Weston, 020 8543 6166 It was £198 incl ins tax. 5 piece band but an open policy to include any un named deps, and playing as 2 different band names. Laser use is conditional on putting a sign at the venue entrance as a warning. Was the best I could find. it is for £5M

Ill dig it out tomorrow

I use them on my Stingray - always have. Probably because they are factory fit lol, but they seem alright to me, and quite cheap too.
-
I would get something like this for home practice, great design, would look good around the house. In fact, I have a dedicated teaching and music room, so I use a Soundcraft Folio Notepad mixer and some tiny Fostex Monitors. But if I did not, I would get one.
MU seems the way to go, just treat all the bands gear as your own if something goes tits up.
That is a bit dodgy in my opinion. Even the MU told me that their cover is for individuals, and that in the event of a claim you would not be covered unless ALL member of the band were fully paid up MU members ( and thus all had the cover), OR you need a PL policy in the name of the band. Ours cost £170 for a year I think. Well worth the cost since we do 70-100 gigs per year, and is often required for these types of venues. That and up to date PAT testing certificates are the main costs of running the band, but a little aside from each gig easily covers it. Chris
