1. Autoglym super resin polish is great on a gloss finish but Iv'e just discovered Gerlitz guitar products - superb! Nick
2.
unsure just yet, thinning out the collection. See what i get, then make a decision. For a lad of 25 i've got pretty arthritic finger joints on my right hand, and i'm unsure what my next musical step is. I think a nice custom jaydee for mucking about may keep me going. I really have to see though...cheers for the support mate.
Mate - you will be fine espec with a finely crafted custom John Diggins bass. I've got a spur of bone on one of the joints of my first finger on my right hand and some days, I can't move it (which can be an issue when music pays your mortgage) so I kind of know where you are at. Eat loads of fruit etc and don't worry about it - only problem then is wind! Nick
3. Ah! I thought you'd decided to give up playing, what with the sudden sales!! Thank goodness I was wrong (makes a change, me being wrong!) Good lad!
4. Brasso and a microfibre cloth! If you have a rosewood board, lemon oil it first.... Ask Ped and cd_david - both have seen the lustre!!! Nick
5. Having played this bass, it is one of the best 5 strings I've played - in amazing condition! All the best Luke! Nick
6. Lovely bass - atb with the sale! Nick
7.
The second bass guitar I bought... Still have it today. Sounds amazing, but is never played Niall
Woh!!! That looks like its new old stock - amazing condition! Very `Rutherford'! Nick
8.
I had one of them, sold it not long after getting it, but it was nice enough, from the first month of production.
I've got one - fantastic basses. Have you got any pics of it? ps - replied to your enquiry on p-net btw! Nick
9.
+1 : massively underrated IMO. '24 Hour Party' people is one favourite basslines ever. Paul's now living in the States has a great new band 'Big Arm' , happy, sober & drug free by all accounts. Feel I'm pretty privileged & lucky to own his old bass, that was used on the Monday's first two albums. It's been on Top of the Pops, videos & several times round the World back in the day. If only it could talk, bet it would have some 'interesting' stories to tell
Lovely bass that! Don't sell it, if you ever do though, pm me!
10. Ashes to Ashes - Bowie. Just so economical and yet so funky and yet dark at the same time. Summed up 1980 perfectly...still gives me goose bumps 29 years later.
11.
I bought this in the mid eighties. According to Washburn there were only six brought into U.K. Anyone else got one?
I've got two `separate' Bantams, one fretted, one fretless - I could always glue them together! I recall the Guitarist mag review of one of these twin necks back in around '86.
12. Just to say that the B Quad basses are one of the industries' best kept secrets - phenomenal basses! I used to `borrow' one on a regular basis from Peavey UK and if only I'd bought it! Nick
13. 1979 - Would have hung around the Guildhall and harass Mark King so much so that he would have missed the early L42 rehearsals, I could then take over and show em how its done!!! Actually, I'd loved to have played for the 80's line up of YES.......baa da daap baa daaaa!!!
14. Hi! I bought a rack case off of Eddy earlier this year and he's a really nice bloke, a pleasure to do business with - I don't have people round my house for the very same reason. Cheers Nick
15. Back around '96, Performance Bike Magazine used some of our (Urban Surf) original songs on one of their `Video Nasties' - we got paid a nice little fee for that which was cool. I went round to a mate's house and he was showing his Dad the video and it was nice to be able to say `I co- wrote that'!
16.
Squier '57 RI Precision Bass Early 1982 JV P bass, somebody replaced the pups. JV02479, still has the sticker of the shop it as bought from. Its amazing to play. I've tried out the current US '57RI and prefer this! Though I am biased.
I got me one of dem!!! Super basses! Mines just like yours - will be using it with Mike Berry and The Outlaws in a couple of weeks time.
17.
Do Alembics not come with the phantom powering module anymore then? 5 batteries is a bit silly.
The Series I and II models come with the module, whereas the Signature series don't! Lavverly bass!
18.
Hi folks, I know i'm probably entering a competition here, but if anyone sees or hears of a Jaydee for sale (higher spec than my Roadie 2A) please PM me, I am looking myself, but if you stumble upon one, please let me know. Ta Andy
Competition???!! Nah! Not here*! You will find that we are all caring, sharing individuals who are more than willing to help each other when it comes down to GAS! *he says, tongue firmly in cheek!!!! Seriously. I'm always scouring the land for said erotica, er, I mean exotica - If I find anything, I will buy it, er let you know!!! Re - weights - all depends on each individual bass - the Alembics I've got both weigh a ton, much heavier than a Series II or III JD - but then my Series I JD is a very heavy bass! Must be all that lovely wood! Nick
19. Some great replies here. Each mode is a new type of scale based on the original major scale formula but starting at a different point in that scale - as Bilbo notes, in the key of C major you get: C Ionian (C major scale itself) C D E F G A B C D Dorian D E F G A B C D E Phrygian E F G A B C D E F Lydian F G A B C D E F G Mixolydian G A B C D E F G A Aeolian (Natural Minor scale) A B C D E F G A (known as the relative minor scale to C Major) B Locrian B C D E F G A B If you carried on, you'd be back at C Ionian (major) one octave higher than the original scale you started at. Now, if you did the same for G major, you would get: G Ionian (G major scale itself) G A B C D E F# G A Dorian A B C D E F# G A B Phrygian B C D E F# G A B C Lydian C D E F# G A B C D Mixolydian D E F# G A B C D E Aeolian (Natural Minor scale) E F# G A B C D E (known as the relative minor scale to G Major) F# Locrian F# G A B C D E F# When formulae are mentioned, start off simply; here's the Major scale (Ionian) formula: root tone tone semitone tone tone tone semitone (or r t t s t t t s) The root note is also known as the Tonic note - it gives the scale its name. Therefore, to work out the formulae for each type of mode, we start with Ionian and can go through the others by shifting the root note by one degree (point in the scale) such that the pattern still covers 8 notes - sounds complex but its not at all. Here's the formulae for each of the modes: Ionian (eg. C major = C D E F G A B C) = r t t s t t t s Dorian (eg. D dorian = D E F G A B C D) = r t s t t t s t Phrygian (eg. E phrygian = E F G A B C D E) = r s t t t s t t Lydian (eg. F lydian = F G A B C D E F) = r t t t s t t s Mixolydian (eg. G mixolydian = G A B C D E F G) = r t t s t t s t Aeolian (eg. A aeolian = A B C D E F G A) = r t s t t s t t Locrian (eg. B locrian = B C D E F G A B ) = r s t t s t t t Hope this helps! Nick
20. Don't sell it - its lovely!!!! Seriously, that is one nice looking bass. BOL (best of luck) with the sale. Nick

22.
Our drummer Mr Jeff Rich has secured us a gig at High Barn in Great Bardfield and looking at the website the venue looks superb. Has anyone out there had any experiences of playing at the venue?
That's Jeff Rich ex-Status Quo, just to say! Cheers Nick
23. Allo! Seller has emailed me to say he has now sold the bass - just to let you all know (no, it was not me!). Cheers. Nick
24. Just to keep you guys informed - both Owensy and I have contacted the seller of this bass to try and get some pics of it - it sounds as though someone has painted it themselves and if so, it will be interesting to see what kind of condition its in. I'd personally hold fire on making any kind of purchase/offers until we get some pix! Goodness, I'm turning into Trevor Eve! Nick (bass collective detective!)
25.
'Pearl Champagne' color?.....I learn something new everyday on here. Thanks for the heads-up Doc.
I think it was probably a one-off colour - I've never seen any others like it! Not sure if I like it or not.
