1. I did mention it to John about another open day but its going to be a few years away due to the workload!
 2. I've got two CV basses; the Jazz and the 50's Precision - both superlative instruments for the money. In fact I've gigged the Jazz twice now with my old rock and roll band and it really delivers! Not really in the same class as the original JV Squiers but a step in the right direction.
 3. A `flange' of bass players! Dunno why, just sort a sounds right!
 4.
You can love your cheap basses and get a "great" sound in your bedrooms, but, I play well on a good bass and better on a great bass, and I sound much better on a great bass. I know the audience doesn't know or care about the detail but I do and the guy who gave me the gig does. He will notice how I play, how I sound and how I fit in, and if I can impress him I will get more work. So it's not rocket science, I will use the biggest, bestest bass, amp and cabs I can afford. QED.
Funny you should say that, one of the musical director's I work with in theatre will actually send me home to fetch it if I turn up without my Vigier!
 5.
Sorry about that, perhaps 'absolute rubbish' would have been more appropriate
No probs!
 6. Meant to say, this pic that Marcus posted was taken at the Jaydee 25th Anniversary Open Day at the old workshop in Bartholomew Street, Birmingham, back in the summer of 2001. It was the most incredible day with loads of JD fans and owners together; John was blown away by the turnout and we had some lovely food! Andy T - if you look closely, my Classic bass (the one being refinished at present) is the third one in from the left - this was how it looked when it was first completed, in the natural finish. Starting on the right of the first row, working towards the left, we had the claro Walnut GA24/25 which was made to commemorate that year (was owned by Marcus Littler), then we had the very first Jaydee (001) and then, my ex-King Classic (00002). The pink GA24 at the back was mine, I then sold it and bought it back last year! If you look really closely, there's Nick Redman's three pickup Custom bass (just behind 00002), which was essentially a Series II MK model with an extra p/up such that he could attain both MK and GA sounds!
 7.
The first one I ever saw....the Starchild.
Ah! You mean this one!! Here's me with Morgan Roussell at his flat in Paris with our two famous JDs: I suppose its the bass equivalent of name dropping - however, I would not advocate `bass dropping'
 8. Guys! Some very interesting debate here and lots of opposing views - please can we chill out just a tad and I know b*llocks is a minor swearword but can we keep the lid on it a bit please!???? Anyway, we are VERY lucky as players to have such a plethora of choice when it comes to basses both cheap and expensive, we should be celebrating this!! Nick
 9. Definitely pops (well technically `pulls' but they are interchangeable terms!), I'd say. Here Chuck meets one of his fave players...! He's a really nice bloke - I told him that `Haitian Divorce' is one of the best basslines ever recorded - he clasped my hand and said `bless you man' - I was nearly in tears!!! When you meet someone of his musical stature, you can't help but be moved by it. Nick
 10. Aha! My suspicions were correct in that it was you who purchased said bass of King-age! Nice one! Quite unusual in that it has the 34 inch scale neck with the narrow string spacing - normally it would have been a 32 inch scale with bendwell!
 11.
I play basses that I like and that I can afford. Is that not the beginning and end of the debate? So the moral of my story is - get the best you can for you on the budget you have be it £100 or £5,000.
Too right - that's it in a nutshell! This man I like! He spaketh the truth. Nick
 12.
Hi Nick! I remember you from the good ol' Wapping days! Do you still have the world's largest bass collection?!! Nice to hear from you man. N
Cheers m8 - not quite the world's biggest - yet! Nick
 13. Luvverly bass! Best wishes with the sale Nick! Nick (Smith!)
 14.
This great bass now has a new owner. Thanks for all your interest guys.
Nice one Dave! Anyone we know? Cheers Nick
 15.
As far as i can figure, series 1 is the same shape as mine, series 2 are narrower and have a scoop between the fingerboard and neck pickup, and series 3 are a smaller version of the series 1...
Andy - your bass is a Series III mate - as noted, a scaled down version of the Series I shape. Cheers Nick
 16.
I'm so sad you're having that refinished; it's possibly my 2nd favourite Jaydee ever. I absolutely love the colour.
Sorry m8! I absolutely love green basses (in fact I'm having my Roadie fretless done in a deep bottle green tint) but the way it worked with the mahogany core wood was kind of `yuck'. I think the red will set it off better! Which is your favourite JD then? This is mine! (well it was ten years ago!) Blimey - there's my old SWR/PV bass rig, rack system and a Pangborn and a Fender MK Jazz! And I had hair!
 17. Its a Series I model (where's Bryan??!) - I suppose the proper model name is a `Jaydee Supernatural Series I Classic Session model! (the session models featured fancy woods etc). I bought it off a mate of mine - originally, it was a natural finish over the entire bass (there's back facings too!) then he had it done in the greenburst - it then came to me and I've had it for around three years or so. I love the green colour but I think the clear trans red (not the deep wine red) will suit it better! There's one mini toggle for the LEDs and the other two are coil taps! The LEDs were originally mains powered via an Alembic-esque transformer box but I'm having it changed to use regular 9v batteries (too much messing around with cables etc etc). Nick
 18.

Very naughty of them! Thx for the pic Wayne!
 19.
Leo's boys shut 'em down. Not because they did top class Fender knockoffs (which they did) but because the brand name itself was thought to be a bit close for comfort. Weird. Jon.
Vesta - they did ready-made curries back when I were a lad! Perhaps Fender shut them down too! Thats how Status basses came about - Fender did not like the `Strata' name, hence Rob had to change it.....! Gits eh!?
 20.
mmm very nice indeed
Hmmm! I wonder who bought it????
 21.
If i order one, it will be a Mark King Supernatural, But i'd probably get a Flame Maple Cap on each 'wing' and have a nice aqua burst or something.I want the Mark King connection, with its own twist, I'll see, if i think i can get rid of a couple of basses first. I'll keep that one pristine and use the roadie as my workhorse Jaydee.
Do you mean something like this old girl... Its being refinished in the same red as the bass featured on the first page of the JD website - it should be done soon - can't wait to get it back!
 22.
Just look at my signature!
Just look at MY signature....!!!
 23.
You cant go wrong with an ex DOTB Status! Still contemplating whether to refurb it or leave the mojo as it is? Hows that Jaydee?
The JD is back home with John Diggins - gonna go green! (colourwise!)
 24. Sounding great there Kol! Must be the Status bass! Nick
