1. ..oh and Steve's lefty is tasty too, in a more `Vader' style! N
2.
Here you go... Latest pics of it... This is the one that makes Rob Green go "Wow!" when he plugs it in and plays the open strings at the factory to check the setup
That is to me, the definitive 21st Century Status SII bass guitar! No more to say! Bro Nicholas John
3. Given that this is an nice `old' Warwick, it will have the famed adjustable brass nut - might be an idea to check the string height at this point (the nut!) to make sure nothing has moved etc. Also, have you looked to see if there is any `dink' on the underside of the string itself where its buzzing? A new string would thus relieve the problem. Definitely get it checked out by a reputable luthier as a matter of course and if there is a high fret, go for a fret dress as already noted! ATB Nick
4. No less than a grand! Nick (be great if you can get them thar pix!)
5. I think this was an FRB-120 model...can't find anything on the net but there was a review in Guitarist magazine around 1987 or so.
6. Allo! JD pricing - really depends on a number of factors - the larger bodied Series I models will normally attract a bit more to JD buffs but again, prices can vary depending on what day it is!!! The cost of a new model (Series III) is I think around £1400 but you then have to factor in a very long wait due to the fact that John currently has over 40 orders! A Series II or III bodied Mark King model could go from around £700 upwards - condition of course also having an impact. Special features such as exotic neck inlays would push the price up - a Saturn inlaid Series II went for £1200 on Ebay earlier this year. If you can get hold of some pics that would certainly help. Norfolk - not too far away from me.....must try to resist! Cheers Nick
7.
Hayes Social club. Back entrance from car park, three or 4 steps up to the Stage. Brazza club in March. load in straight on to the stage. Both are good as you avoid the punters. Both are bad because they are Social clubs ;-)
Played both those places! I think someone got badly beaten up/mugged outside the Hayes club one night we played there. The Braza punters are there only for the purposes of Bingo!
8. Well, its the right colour (Norwegian blue!)!! Bumpe! Nick
9. Corby Silver Band Club! Easy get in/out but told to `hurry up and f-ckoff' at the end of the show. No manners!
10.
I agree entirely, Funkle... I A/B'd the Vibe against a new MIM Jazz (the Lake Placid blue/maple one) & the MIM couldn't get close to the quality feel and sound of the Chinese bass. And they were both new out of the box a day earlier. I've now set mine up on some recently oven baked (don't ask!) DR Fatbeams & the sound is exactly what I want from a Jazz bass. The Vibe will be my pit bass for the pantomime in Sheffield, as it'll be left daily at the theatre. Not a fate I'd leave my more expensive instruments to!
I leave my Vigier in the pit....!!! I'm now gassing for the Roadworn Jazz in fiesta red - went to PMT in Birmingham to pick up my new Zoom HD16 digital multitracker (its time I got into home recording) and fell in love!!! Custom shop quality for just under a grand!
11. Just found this; Check out this site: http://www.heartfield-central.com
12.
Heartfield? Some sort of connection with Fender i believe.
Hmm - might have been them! Heart Guitars would have been likely as they were a small company that would have definitely shown off their wares at such shows. They (Heartfield) were as you say, part of the Fender corporation and I think those basses had a graphite `layer' that extended out from underneath the fretboard and thus formed the headstock facing!
13. My brother spake the truth! Nice comparitive review there mate - I fully agree with you, being an owner of both the CV Jazz and 50's Precision. In fact, I'm off to Birmingham tomorrow and if I find one, will probably purchase the CV 60's Precision in daphne blue! Then they will be sealed in my time pod and sold off (as you say!) 25 years from now for a small fortune! Nick
14.
In addition to my previous post on this thread, I picked up on of these today. Actually, it was the fifth one I'd tried and it was the same as all the others. Excellent flawless finish, great playability and great sound. I also pitched it up against one of the new MIM standards in Lake Placid blue with a maple board. The MIM was a nice enough thing, but it couldn't get near the CV in terms of playability, finish or sound. The MIM bass was resoundingly dull and not a patch on the Chinese instrument. Review of the CV vs my American Standard in the reviews section.
Nice one sire! They really are excellent! Nick
15. The company was originally known as `Heart' Guitars which then became `Heartwood Guitars' (they were hoping to make some instruments for the band `Heart' but for whatever reason, it did not happen and allegedly, the band were not happy that they were using the name `Heart', hence the change to Heartwood. Technically I have one in the collection - it was loaned to a student many years ago and has since gone awol!!! Lovely basses (and guitars) - they were based down south somewhere. If anyone sees a trans-green flamed top maple necked 4 string headless, do let me know! Cheers Nick
16. Sounds like another great bash - will try and get to the next one! ATB! Nick
17.
So by "white with red tort guard", you mean you were playing a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz bass? Or have I totally lost the thinly-veiled plot? Edit: Okay, I've just spotted the subtitle, LOL! Yes, they are amazing basses for the money. I'm still thinking of getting one. I've said several times on here that I visited Alex at the Gallery in Camden a few weeks ago & the CV Squier Jazz sounded and played a lot better than all the Sadowskys I tried. Go figure!
Just to add to my brother's comments - they are terrific basses - I've gigged mine and it does the business! Rich - go and buy one sire! Nick
18. Just to add that Marcus is a very competent bass player! Nick

20. Just to say that Dave bought this incredible Status bass from me late last year and I can categorically state that the condition is excellent. It plays itself and has the classic Status sound. I would buy it back but alack, dosh is not with me right now! Buy with complete confidence! Nick (if you look really closely at my avatar `fence' pic, this bass is second in from the right, next to the cream 4001CS!)
21.
Gnnn...must resist.
Me too!!!
22. That really is a very very special instrument! Welcome to Basschat! Nick

24. Prob is going to be finding a field big enough for the pyre! I'm definitely going to have a flightcase style coffin though!!! Bit macabre but you do have to prepare for the inevitable! I used my first series JV Squier (Fender) Precision bass for the Mike Berry gig - loved it! PA system was huge - big Martin rig with three 2 x 18 bass bins and array style top units each side - talk about bottom end!
