http://darkglass.com/creations/alpha-omega/ I want it. No demo yet, but I still want it.

How are people getting on with these? I'm enjoying my Darkglass, but I'm wondering about a change, just because, GAS!

Albums you think are crap but are critically acclaimed...

all Pink Floyd ever. -
It's the rule. Band enjoyment in playing a tune is inversely proportional to the audience enjoyment. Mustang Sally Delilah Lets get the party started etc etc. All suck to play, and yet will be loved by the crowd.

My sympathies on the hernia. Been there myself. Repair failed. 2nd attempt has fixed it but left permanent discomfort, bordering on pain. Still, only 40 odd years left if I'm lucky. -
I tihnk my issue was the reverse, i got to 800watts and had to get rid of my drummer for a quieter one lol
Living the dream!

I use mine with a Helix anyway. The only thing I haven't tried yet is using the Helix to control the channel change on the amp. As it is more than just clean / dirt it might not work. Or maybe the Hold For Mute won't work. But I'll give it a try at some point.
-
I play whatever I like on the day. Unless someone moans about it being inappropriate. Then I play one of these. It actually sounds really good!
-
That's what I assume. 1 stomp on a specific switch for that sound. Like most 3 or 4 channel guitar amps. I share the concerns about settings though. Multi-channel guitar amps that share EQ are always a compromise.
I don't understand this. If you have a clean switch, and a second switch that switches between B3K and Vintage, how will having 3 switches make changing sounds easier?
Ah - I assumed you wanted a mute and then 1 to cycle the tones. Still, I like separate ones though. Less chance of engaging the wrong thing.
Perfected the use of a compressor into a bass synth pedal or even an envelope filter? Squashy settings seem to cause glitches due to the raised noisefloor but in principle it should make the dynamics more consistent. What's the secret?
Filter then compressor. Otherwise the filter can't react properly as the compressor limits it too much. My board has the envelope filter and synth pedals first, then compression, then drive. Works well.
-
Presumably because some will want to use 3 tones in a tune. Cycling 3 usually means having to go past 1 you don't want at that time. It also means having to change ahead of the beat too.

Nice! I can see me wanting one!

New footswitch coming in feb.

Voodoo Labs, Gigrig, Cioks etc. Not over kill at all. Proper isolated power and all well built. A good power supply is definitely one of those 'buy it once' and stop worrying about it type things. In fact I've got the VL PP2 on my small board and the Gigrig system on my silly large board. Painful to buy, and yet zero buyers remorse.

Vic served me on my only trip to BG - and I came away with a Demeter head. I was not bothered about what cabs I tried it with, but he insisted, not only in digging out the same cabs I used, but also making sure they were stacked in the same way. That attention to detail set him apart from many music shop people. RIP.

Experience Why Is It Important When Hiring A New Band Member

Sanitizer doesn't kill norovirus or C.Difficle. Soap and water do though.
-
I've got EMG ones in my Ray. I really like them. Clear and punchy, not quite as clanky.
-
If the band sits down to play in a formal setting then stands / tablets / notes are ok for everyone except the singer. If the band stands, moves, dances, otherwise engages with the audience, then no.

Make the jump from 4 to 5 or just keep switching?
fretmeister replied to Deedee's topic in Bass Guitars
I played 4 strings for years, mainly because I couldn't find a 5 I felt comfortable with. Then I found a Marleaux Consat Custom 5 and it became my main bass. Couple of years after that I found an unusually light Stingray 5 too. I sold most of my 4s at that point but I still have an Urge2 and a fretless 4 Status, but I never take them out. I usually get piano scores and I never know when that B string is needed, so it has to come with me. I'm now at the point where a 4 feels like there is something missing. I'm really picky about bass weights as my back is knackered, and I've had multiple hernias, but I hope to find another light 5 that suits. Lots of 5 strings seem to have about 48mm nut widths which is too wide for me. I will be keeping the Urge2 as it is the finest slap machine I've ever played, but the fretless might go. -
BB has been in Facebook. Loads of his basses have been stole, including the red Lull signature model that been his main bass for 17 years. Details on FB https://m.facebook.com/bryanbellerbass/
