1. Where in the hand exactly is the pain? It makes a real difference to treatment. I get pain which is actually referred from an ulnar canal issue and I have proper exercises from a physio that really help.
2. Both. If you like them. Neither if you don't.
3.
A bass is not cool. The person playing it is or is not cool. Cool does not describe inanimate objects.
Ah yes. Language is unchanging. When you drink and need transport do you still arrange to be conveyed by a taximetered cabriolet?
4. Bass with Neck LEDs being played by a hot woman in a silver cat suit, while wearing a fez. Nothing else is cool.
5. Price drop to £750.00 collected. Added a trade option too.
6. The great off-load of my 4 string basses begins. For sale is my Sandberg California TT4 passive. Alder body, maple neck, new Sandberg lightweight tuners. Vol / Bal / Tone. It is in high gloss white, with optional extras ebony board block inlays pearl scratchplate matched headstock colour. Using the good old "me and bass on the bathroom scales" approach to weighing it is about 8.8lb It is currently strung with quite new GHS Pressurewound strings and is in very good condition. I can't spot any dings. Comes with the Sandberg padded gig bag, which I've never really used as I transport everything in my Mono. It's a lovely bass with a great Jazz sound and I'm selling because I always take a 5 string if I'm playing anywhere. Collection only from Northants, just off Junction 16 on the M1 I have recently had surgery to repair 2 massive hernias so at present I cannot drive or meet half-way anywhere. So it is collection only I'm afraid. Looking for about £750.00 ono. Cash on collection only. At the risk of upsetting this wonderful community of bassists - the only trade I would consider is for a Marshall JCM800 2203X Reissue! (Must be the reissue as it has an FX loop worth having). More photos to follow. EDIT: As I've been asked - fretboard radius is a pretty flat / modern 14 inches. And very comfy it is too. EDIT - more photos ta
7. I shall give that a try. Always looking for new music
8. Neotech Mega Bass strap. Brilliant for a bad back. Amazon have them, as does Bass Gear.
9. Change the pickup and have a PJ! Gregor will get a new 'plate for you. I have a high gloss white TT4 with the ebony board, amazing bass.
10.
OK then..I'll take them if you don't want them... Not a sellers market at the moment so unless you really need the cash I'd be inclined to hold on to them for a while..
There is that. Used prices are awful at the moment.
11.
This. I have owned a 5-er for over 2 years but only had 1 gig where the 5 was the clear choice.
I usually get piano scores - almost everything goes lower than E, and sometimes playing the octave ruins the feel of that part of the piece.
12. I have four 4 string basses and I like playing them, but I'd never go out without a 5 string, especially if I don't know what I'm going to be playing until I get there. I can't help thinking they are just sitting there wasting space most of the time. Any of you 5 stringers get rid of your 4 strings completely?
13. Status Streamline Aria travel bass
14.
The BB-1X looks better than it sounds unfortunately!
Agreed. It's not great. Certainly not going to bump a B3K off a board.
15. I was wondering this too. I have the B7K and the VMTD but I've never tried them straight into the FX Return or into a PA. I'll have to try it- a little pedal into a modern tiny power amp might be the lightest way to travel.
16. I don't see the point of starting on a 4 if you intend to move to 5. That's likely to be more confusing. It's as weird as starting on a tenor sax when you intend to move to an alto. In fact it's more weird as a 5 will do everything a 4 can, rather than the limits of the woodwind range. Get the one you intend to keep going with.
17. Bergs. I use a pair of CN112 and I love them.
18.
Can't imagine turning up at an orchestra rehearsal with an electric bass and amp - I think most would frown when you walked in door
It's an educational trust youth orchestra. Lots of people, lots of different ensembles, and lots of room changes. Big band tunes, film scores, re-arranged chart music. Great fun!
19. I play in an orchestra! When there is a solo woodwind part the last thing anyone tolerates is a whirring fan!

21. Used to be mine too! Great instrument.
22. I have an Ampeg SVT BSP Billy Sheehan preamp. I mainly use it as a clean sound even though the drive section (blend able ) is great too. It's a great unit.
23. The Drake Music Project does similar - even providing single finger or blink controlled instruments to disabled kids.
24. I like Ashdown heads - it's the cabs I don't like. I used to use a Marshall VBC412 cab with one. Big huge sound, far better than the Ashdown cabs. But these days - any good lightweight head and a Vintage Microtubes pedal!
25. I was wondering! For many on here playing bass seems almost a byproduct of the desire to be in a band. I enjoy playing live too, but I get just as much enjoyment playing just for me. Whether that be composing or simply finally being able to play a difficult piece doesn't matter. It's very different from my other gig - magic. Music can be very enjoyable even without an audience as the composition can be enjoyable. Magic requires an audience who doesn't know how the piece is performed.
