  1. I felt like a charlatan playing pop-punk tunes in a pub... until I got paid. If you're a pro, then you're a pro. Don't have to enjoy the event to do a good job.
  2. I did for a while... Until I ran out of talent!
  3. The piano or organ will be doing the long full low notes. As a result it is compulsory for you to slap everything. It's the law.
  4. He's a hell of a player! Hopefully it will be on youtube at some point.
  5. I've got the rack and foot controller. If It broke, I'd get another or the full fat floor. I never use a real amp in the house, just Helix into a Yamaha HS7 monitor (Or on my PC, Helix Native into a pair of HS7) I'm not gigging Helix at the moment as I'm playing in a Big Band and a small head and cab is all I need for that gig. Can't be arsed to move a rack for that! The full units, Floor / Rack , LT are quite expensive but never have I had a bit of kit for so long that I've never thought about selling. I got mine in April 2016.
  6. I like them a lot. The 5 string really appeals. Alas I'm saving like a demon to help the kids build a university fund so the chances of me getting a new instrument within the next 5 years are virtually nil.
  7. They are on Andertons site now.
  8. Nice.
  9. If anyone has a Doug Wimbish model and doesn't have any tattoos then please send it to me. I don't make the rules.
  10. Lovely. Great price too.
  11. I'm just going to ask the wife...
  12. I had a Prodigy for a while. Loved it - but the fan noise was really really annoying. In hindsight perhaps I should have got a tech to install a quieter fan and just kept it!
  13. Curiosity. I’ve had other Thorpyfx pedals and have been impressed. Thought I’d try the FG when the Mk1 larger housing version was on sale. Never been off my board since.
  14. Unless you are the name soloist there is no room in an orchestra for anything other than technical correctness. Or at least no room for an interpretation that differs from the instruction of the conductor.
  15. Those classical people will get a job in music playing works by other people.
  16. @Cuzzie Make me an offer. I see they are nearly £200 a set, new! 😲 https://www.rockinger.com/fr/parts/micros-et-accessoires-micros/micros-basse/sandberg/831/sandberg-t4-black-label-pickups
  17. Here you go I went for some Darkglass inspired knobs as they are lighter weight than the heavy alloy ones that came with the bass. When I get the battery box hooked up I may well have the socket mounted on the plate so the empty hole isn't an issue. I am seriously loving this upgrade. The EMGs are a huge improvement on the Black Label buckers. I do need a chance to properly balance the pickup heights. At the moment the neck pickup is a bit loud so it needs to be lowered a smidge. That can wait until after the food excess of the next few days though.
  18. They are in. At the moment the battery is under the plate as really helpfully my soldering iron has stopped working. So I stuck with the solder-less system and socket so the battery just about fits in the cavity now that there are only 3 pots. I'll get it connected to the existing battery box when I get a new iron. Or when the battery runs out in about 18 months! Sounds - seems to be quite a lot louder and clearer. The bridge pickup soloed is much better than the Black Label pickup. Sounds more like a single coil and with the tone backed off a bit, really beefy for a bridge position. Slap is amazing. Not really tried neck only yet as I like to hear that in a mix for more P bass type tones with a different EQ. Just used my Helix patches at the moment. Will try it through my real amps / cabs over the next few days. Nice to have smooth pickup tops for ramp use again too. A thought though - USA product with Imperial system stuff is a real faff when trying to marry up with mounting Metric things such as the screw threaded socket mounting plate! Get with the programme USA! You people are just about the only imperial users left. Get over it!!
  19. After all the wondering about getting a more P type sound from my Sandberg I'm going to go in the opposite direction.. I'm going to put a set of EMG J pickups in it. Always loved Bobby Vega's J tone. Just Vol / Vol / Tone. No active EQ, at least for the moment and we'll see what happens. The stock pickups are good, but not exciting to me, if that makes any sense. I did gig the Berg a couple of times to make sure my brain wasn't just arsing about, but that feeling remains. Updates to follow when I've done the deed!
  20. My main bass is a Sandberg Superlight TT4 It's about 2.9kg / 6.4lb. My Precision is 7 3/4 lb My Stingray5 is 8.8 lb - although I have modded that I won't go any heavier than the ray, and I only play that occasionally. No 3 hour shows for that. My post surgery problems won't allow it. I also won't buy any new bass over 8lb no matter how good it might be. Too painful.
  21. Sandberg Superlight TT5 can be under 8lb. No chambering.
  22. Sir Duke Anyone who alters the key for Sir Duke without warning the bassist deserves flogging in the street! I'm playing it in C at the moment. Years of muscle memory gone to waste, and it just doesn't sound right! Bastards!
  23. My Zon Hyperbass had a 3 octave neck - fretless of course, but the equivalent of 36 frets.
