New stringray specials have 22.
The 5 strings (apart from the classics) have always been 22.
TBH unless having 24 frets means the space between the end of the neck and the pickup is tight for slapping, it makes no difference.
I like to have 21+ though. I like having that upper E.
I have a pair of One10
I use a Darkglass M900 and a Markbass Marcus Limited 800 Goldline.
They both work really well with the cabs, and they are very different.
Neither of them is "best" - each does a particular job and does it very well.
I've got the rack and foot controller.
Keeps the brain away from the floor and beer spillages. Far cheaper to replace the controller than the entire unit. Also means the controls are higher up - less bending over to adjust stuff.
Actually that reminded me of a time a now sadly departed friend of mine used that line and continued....
"Wait is that your girlfriend?"
"Yes"
"No deal."
Punter stormed off in a right huff!
Yes and no. (Ignoring compression which I always like).
Playing a set of Otis Redding tunes - nope.
Playing a modern set with Muse, Jamiroquai, RHCP etc - yes.
It all depends on the song.
