  1. Currently playing root note stuff to retrain my ruptured tendon finger. Its a bit boring! Still if it gets me match fit again, it’s all good.
  2. I've really fallen for my 32 scale Ibby. I love it. Cheap as chips and easily as good as other stuff in the £750 price bracket. Will be even better when I bin the preamp and put an Aguilar in it.
  3. My sandberg didn't have markers on the board. I used stickers. I used those little round removable web cam covering stickers as they don't mark anything. £10 for the stickers and half an hour of swearing while getting them lined up properly. Use tweezers! Job done. I'm sure you could try the same on the side, or use slightly larger stickers over the top of the front ones so you can see them. Probably won't need them forever - just until you get used to the scale.
  4. I've been down that road - Warmoth don't do any EBMM compatible products. Reading between the lines, they think they will get sued. I think they are being overly cautious as a neck pocket is a neck pocket. As long as the headstock was both different enough and not able to be reshaped to match a Ray I can't see any issues. Bodies are far easier. I did get an estimate from Shuker about making a chambered body a few years ago - It was just under £500 including it being painted fully and loading the hardware etc. Other household expenses got in the way and now I've sold the bass. It wasn't going to be an identical shape, a bit thinner as Ray 5's are massively thick, and the upper horn was going to be a little longer to help the balance even more.
  5. I agree with you, the sparkly green one is my favourite version too.
  6. You could buy the lightest one you can find and then have a replacement body made and move all the hardware over. Then keep the original body in case it needs to be reassembled and sold in the future.
  7. I emailed EBMM a few years ago asking about a chambered body. They said no, they don’t do any custom things like that for us mortals. Shame as I’d like one.
  8. Lovely! Sandberg will do medium scale versions of all their basses - the extra money is the same as going from 34 to 35. Quite tempted myself!
  9. In a jazz mode, so some Art Pepper
  10. I have one of those things - attaches to a mic stand. I used it when I had a load of surgery. Worked well enough.
  11. Sorry to hear that.
  12. I don't have big hands. I can play extra long scale basses as competently as I can a shorter scale. But on a 3 hour function gig I'll take the comfortable option every time. Problems and Comfort or lack of it are not the same thing. It's the same as balance and weight etc. With the massive amount of options available these days there is no reason to make it more difficult / annoying than it has to be. The best instrument for any player is one that seems to get out of the way of the music and playing.
  13. I have the 32 scale mezzo Ibanez. It’s excellent. The low B is very good indeed with the right strings.
  14. I really must try one of these.
  15. Such a lovely bass. Wish I had the money.
  16. Put steel rounds on it. Always does the trick.
  17. Reaper for me.
  18. I see Doug Johns has joined the Sandberg artist roster and they’ve built him a 24 fret TT4 with his favourite Barts.
  19. Gary Willis used to use little plastic spacers behind the bridge of his basses to move the ball end further away, so it has been done before. I've been meaning to try it as I can't get a D'addario medium scale B string. You can always order custom strings from Newtone and have them made exactly for your instrument. Very nice they are too.
  20. Email and ask them. They can do a lot. just be aware that if it can’t be done with a neck shape they already make and you really really want it… you’ll be paying for new moulds and tooling too…
  21. derrière. it’s been discontinued.
  22. Source Audio Spectrum filter. And a big surprise, the Boss BC-1X compressor. Ive sold my expensive ones and kept the Boss. The X stuff really is excellent.
  23. My 4 string is tuned to C. I fitted EMG PJ-X set with an EMG stack 2 band, and the ABCX active Balance control and I’m really impressed with the sound. Also, Roto B strings suck like gravity. D’addario B are much better. Can get tapered ones too if that helps the intonation.
  24. @adamg67 What power supply have you got there?
