You don't see many of these around...

Just better hope that the forum rulers don't see it... -
Why just the effects forum? As an experiment, it's failed. File under 'stupid idea'. Please remove it immediately.
I'll pass your comments on.

I think Gumtree and eBay both have thousands of reports of 'fake' goods every day and don't have the luxury of analysing the implications of whether a headstock is shown in the photographs or a brand name inferred in the description. Being the size they are, they also make a very profitable target for litigation. I totally agree that it's a pain in the nether regions, but you can't really blame Gumtree or eBay for protecting themselves...
That was my attitude years ago - not any more. Ended up getting involved in the civil war in Angola.
I hate it when that happens. Just pop out to Coalville to record a track or two and before you know it, civil war breaks out in Market Bosworth and you've got blood and guts and bits between your teeth... ruins a perfectly pleasant afternoon...
Do people frown when you turn up with a non-Fender? Really?!!
Not any more I always find out what they want and expect before I pack the car.
I just take along whatever tickles my whistle, which ok I haven't actually got a Fender but still, if I want to play the SR300 then that is what goes with me. And, I don't like to have favourites
I don't really have favourites, but I do know what equipment is best for the particular job in hand. I'll happily tell people I'm playing for what is going to work best for the overall feel and sound, but if they decide not to take that onboard then I'll do the very best I can with what they want.
If somebody wants me to play bass, or even audition for them to do so, then they have to accept my taste in instruments - which may include Fender, but certainly does not begin and end with them!
It really depends on the people involved. I'm very often a last minute replacement for an existing bass player and that worries people, partly my own fault for being relaxed about the situation. Add an unfamiliar instrument (to them) on top of that and it just adds to the stress. The way I see it, I'm just there to do whatever they want me to do - if they want me to wear shorts and green wellies while I'm playing then that's what I do.

Oh Man! I've gotta say, I've been following this thread since it started out as two lumps of wood and I've been totally blown away with each new set of pictures. One of these days , when I'm rich enough to be able to eat every day, I'm going to be paying a visit to the guys at Overwater and I'm going to be saying 'make me one of these' whilst pointing to this thread. I'm totally lost for superlatives!

I've seen some distinctly unappealing instruments over the years, but this is obviously the result of KGB guitar design and Siberian production prior to the pulling down of the Berlin wall...

Wow! That is such a massive price jump that there must have been a mistake somewhere along the line. Materials haven't increased in price by that much recently.

It was an experiment to see if we could find a way of making the T&Cs more obvious. If it's any consolation, I can't make it go away either.

Does Basschat influence the European s/h bass market?
icastle replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
Google anything bass related and you'll find BassChat pretty high up on that list. That's how I found BassChat a few years ago - everything I Googled ended up with a link to some bl**dy thing called BassChat - so I came, I saw, I stayed. With over 1.9M posts, we are the biggest dedicated bass forum in Europe and I'm sure we're seen as a main 'reference point' for many bass related equipment buying and price setting decisions. -
Yeah annoying when some people go and delete all details of the instrument and the sale, I've never understood that!
+1 The idea really is that you can search for details of your BlatoSplatter FunkySlap-3000 and see what they usually sell for to give you a clue of what's reasonable. Deleting the details after a sale really does everyone a disservice.

Done a few of these over the years. We're lucky insofar as we have enough kit to set up both venues so we only have to carry instruments between them. We leave someone behind at the end of the first gig to pack up and then meet us at venue two later on. It's usually on St. Patricks that this happens, but this year we've managed to get the two venues to have their celebrations on separate nights.

A thoughtful, quiet and reserved individual with technique and equipment to match. No jewellery (not even a watch) and an antipathy towards heavily branded clothing. I'm out.

My first bass was a 198? Fender P which I used for quite a few years before moving off into the Japanese market. I found the Japanese stuff a little easier to play and it made a nice change from the 'standard' Fender P sound - nowt wrong with that sound if that's what you want, but it just didn't suit my needs at the time. I still keep a (rarely used) Fender J which I use when the occasional artist\band frown at anything other than Fender, just to keep the peace. (And secure me the gig! )
To the Admins, i'm sorry for that post, i was unaware of the changes.
No problem. These things take a little time to get used to.

110 to 240v conversion for Line 6 & Nemesis combos
icastle replied to glefty's topic in Amps and Cabs
I can't find a schematic for the Eden Nemesis, but the service manual for the Line 6 Lowdown Studio 110 indicates that a different transformer is needed to run it off of 240V. Line 6 recently lost their Australian representative but WATSON ELECTRONICS P/L Unit 2 6 - 10 ARGON ST SUMNER PARK BRISBANE 07 33766771 are currently looking after spares and support. They should be able to source\replace your transformer for you. -
