1. I find singing embarrassing... all those little bluebirds perching on the mic stand, staring at me with adoring eyes...
 2.
I have read on other forums where people have had the same set of flats on their bass for......thirty years, and claim that the tone is still good. I would not go that far myself, but I think you can get the message.
Thirty years, as you say, is perhaps a little bit excessive. I think I'd be more worried about making sure my tetanus jabs were up to date than the strings sounding a bit dull.
 3. When you think about it, there are a finite number of ways that you can arrange electronic components to perform a specific task so a chorus pedal from Behringer won't be hugely different from a Boss one in design. The main difference is going to be in the overall quality of the components, be they casing or electronic. I've used Behringer rack effects for several years now. They're cheap, they're reasonably quiet if you're sensible about separating mains and signal cables and they do the job admirably. I don't think plastic cased effects pedals would last very long in a heavy duty environment and I guess it's difficult to see Behringer amps as even vaguely serious once you've owned\used some of the 'known brand goliaths', but they do fill a gap in the market.
 4.
Thinking of the various bands in which I played when a beardless youth, we played covers, or covers / originals or only originals. But we didn't think 'Oh, we're a covers band' or whatever. We just thought 'We're a band'. And I don't ever recall anyone saying 'Let's go and see X down the pub' and someone else saying 'Let's not - they're a covers band'. I really don't recall when the distinction became so important or so imbued with 'meaning'. I must have been out of the country at the time.
+1 Ironically, it wasn't until I joined BC that I ever came across a major distinction between the two types - as you quite rightly point out, they were just 'bands'.
 5.
Wow, all this! It must be why you're looking at that Cheapish Speaker Cable!
I see everything... I am the all seeing mod... ... and I wouldn't do that with it if you don't know where it's been...
 6.
Do you love yourself for your mad chops or for something different though?
I think it's a bit of everything. My charm, wit and sophistication. My happy nature and boyish humour. And not forgetting the kind of body that most people would die from. All in all, I'm pretty much perfect.
 7. ...and just to prove how much of a clownwhore I am, I got asked to join an originals band tonight and, after hearing them, have agreed. On the way out of the rehearsal studio I got collared by another band and I'm putting some double bass down on a couple of tracks they're currently recording. So that gives me: 1x rock covers band 1x blues covers band 1x covers\originals duo 1x originals band Life as a musical tart is good
 8. Blimey! That's gonna be a tough one to sell...
 9.
Always Jasmine Silk - link in my sig.
What with the gloves and the hat you always look like you're not stopping...
 10. +1 I've had one for a couple of years now and it's a truly remarkable instrument for the price. And yes, that's what I'm 'cuddling' in my profile pic.
 11. I don't actually care what I do as long as I get paid. I wear my musical clown whore badge with pride.
 12.
'Tis true, our guitarist had this problem and it was indeed a build-up of static from his plastic pg. He shielded the back of the pg and connected it to earth and lo, all was silent thenceforth.
You had him killed?
 13. Yes. I thought not.

 15.
Thanks for your assistance guys. I now know what I need to know. I'm done with this subject.
Really? I don't think that I am actually. Here's a nice little multichoice question for you: You are an IT Security Professional. You suspect that a site you are using may have a security flaw. Do you: a ) Say nothing and hope the perceived problem goes away. b ) Contact the site administrators PRIVATELY to tell them of the perceived problem so that they can investigate and take appropriate action if required. c ) Post factually incorrect and defamatory statements alongside wildly inaccurate accusations in a PUBLIC forum. d ) Post details of the suspected security breach in a PUBLIC forum so that it becomes a target for further attacks. You claim to be a Security Professional, you know the right answer.
 16.
Plus I have a bright orange Stingray why would anyone want anything else?
Not even sunglasses?
 17. Oh I don't know. I love me because I'm the nicest person I know. I don't get out much...
 18. I went through a phase of buying the latest kit and every effect going in the search for 'my sound' when I was in my early 30's. I'd probably have carried on if it hadn't been for a non-musical friend of mine who, having watched me gigging for many years, turned round one night after a gig and said "you used to sound so much better when you sounded like you." Once I got over the denials that many of us use to justify our expenditure to ourselves, I had to admit... she was dead right.
 19. There was a reported issue with Chrome and Photobucket and the RealDownloader extension. If you type chrome://extensions into the browser you should be able to disable the RealDownloader extension. HTH
 20. I was going to say that I've never heard of her then realised I must have because I seemed to remember saying that before... Having watched the clip above, she's obviously a good player - she's fluid, she has good timing and counterpoints the rhythm nicely. The musical style isn't for me though so I'm not really able to enthuse about it as much as she perhaps deserves. As for the sex\looks part, she doesn't really tick any of my boxes and I'm absolutely certain that she'd say the same about me if the opportunity to say so arose.
 21.
Always know what notes I'm playing. Don't always know what song though!
I am so with you on that one!
 22.
I know what is very likely to have happened. One or more of the site admins (probably all of them) operate behind either no firewall or a poor one. If any of them surf naughty things on the same PC, then who knows who have all of email addresses by now.
Really? I find that presumption a little bit disturbing. I'm sat here, at home, posting this from behind TWO hardware firewalls (from two different manufacturers) and a software firewall plus an up to date AV package. I've yet to speak to anyone in the Admin team, many of whom are also IT professionals, that doesn't have an appropriate degree of protection. If you'd like to send us the header information contained within this particular piece of spam mail then I'll see if we can throw any light on what's happened here.
 23.
I replaced a 500k volume and dual 250k blend control with two 1meg vol/vol and I can definitely tell a difference.
Going from 250KΩ to 1MΩ is a hell of a jump. If you couldn't hear a difference I'd be worried about you.
 24.
If there is a difference, which I doubt, I dont reckon you would hear it at all with the volume and tone pots full on. 500K is 500K - or whatever value - no matter what make the pot is.
In fairness, the more expensive pots do have a much more reliable tolerance than the cheap ones. A cheap pot labelled as 500K could be + or - 10% of that figure. I would expect a more expensive pot to be + or - 5% of it's labelled value. Most pots for the generic type of use we're looking at here are going to be carbon track and there's a finite tolerance that can be achieved with that particular material.
