I haven't caused any trouble for over a week, not even at home
Is that out of personal choice or just the conditions of your ASBO?
There has been a few threads like this now, and doubtless more that have just given up on the process without commenting. Perhaps something could be stuck up somewhere prominent explaining the new system for those that mainly use the marketplace or don't delve into 'Site News'? The Marketplace rules don't appear on the mobile site.
Actually, the rules were, for a short time, displayed in full as you entered each and every Marketplace forum. We took them off because people complained like b*gg*ry about them.
Anyway I'm not going to be buying or selling anything for ages now, well maybe my jazz that's for sale and I might get a classic ray5, and a fishman pro eq if one crops up on here........
So apart from the Jazz, the Classic Ray 5 and the Fishman Pro EQ, what have the Romans ever done for us?

I think the thing that annoys me the most about some of these 'premium brand' companies is their total disconnection from good PR. Having a good public image is something that needs to be worked on constantly. It is not something that you can attain and then protect forever just by threatening legal action whenever you see or hear something that calls the quality of your product or business ethics into question. It makes your business look shallow, petty and unprofessional. Look at the 'grey import' issue that was discussed here earlier. That has 'cost' the manufacturer more in potential lost sales, dented reputation and customer disconnect than it would have cost them to resolve the manufacturing defect. If they had resolved the problem then they'd have looked like an absolutely superb company. It's such a shame to see these companies relying on the depth of their pockets to 'win' battles that should never have got started in the first place.

Basschat auction. It's over, we have a winner.

There's nothing behind my fridge - I ate that already. A hearty thankyou to leschirons for a fantastic idea and to everyone else who made it happen Just when I think BassChat couldn't possibly get any better, you b*gg*rs prove me wrong! -
There has been a new system in place for some weeks now. Adverts with a value of less than £50 remain free. Adverts with a value of over £50 are now chargeable. This has been discussed in various threads for a period of time now.

Right this is going to get out of hand. Matte black and Stacker, if you have issues then please take it to PM and resolve it between yourselves. Neither of you are going to 'win' an argument on a public forum. This topic is now closed
Might be in a bit of trouble with this one. The headstock is visible
You're not in trouble, but your picture is. Sorry guys, but you know what reaction to R*********** copy headstocks brings to our doorstep.

Embarrassing tale... My covers band came from a somewhat heavily equipped band that I initially depped for. 4K PA, wireless everything, tri-lite mounted lighting rig, monitor mixer, video wall... you name it, we'd got it. Everyone had band owned pods, bass player included, and it was made clear, in no uncertain terms, that I was expected to use it. After a few minutes of fiddling about with it I knew I was totally out of my depth and, rather than admit the fact, I bypassed it using a jack coupler I had in my bag. I played half a dozen gigs with them, each time carefully putting the pod in front and powering it up, tucking the cables along the back with my trusty coupler joining them together. By this time I'd wrapped it in black insulating tape to camouflage it. I did feel guilty when a couple of the guys said that I'd "really got the hang of using the pod" and it sounded "much better when I used it". Then one night, I finally slipped up and forgot to remove my trusty coupler before we packed away. A brief, somewhat fraught discussion followed and the pod was ceremoniously flightcased and eBay'd the following day. I think they're probably a good tool, but you do need to spend some quality time with them.
Or mount your speakers in a box that fits over your head. Double-lined with coconut matting and a neoprene seal round the neck. Don't forget to double-glaze the eye-holes and fit an extractor fan connected to an outside wall with soundproofed trunking.
...and don't forget the pictures...

Nothing wrong with a jack connection - it was the industry standard for donkeys years, speakon is just a slightly better up to date version (doesn't affect the sound though). I used that 4x10 and a 300W amp for about 10 years, plenty loud enough for gigs.
-
Using words to describe sound is always blooming difficult. However, what I think you're describing is perfectly normal. You will always get a different sound as you move your playing hand from the bridge end, over the pickups and to the neck end. I generally set my tone controls to give me the sound I want 'over' the pickups - that way I have the flexibility of being able to move back towards the bridge for a slightly 'crisper' sound or up towards the neck for a more mellow sound.
Climbers forums can be really horrible, for example.
Yep. I've found them to be full of overly competitive types who are either 'better' than you in reality, and make sure you know it, or feel the need to be nasty if they're not. Last time I browsed one I came away knowing that I was probably going to be carrying some of those people off of a mountain in the future and they wouldn't be quite as full of themselves then...
I think everyone here is a w***er, me included
Well that's the nicest thing I've been called all week, so I'm gonna take that as a compliment.

I totally agree. BC has a special 'something' that is so rare to find within the anonymity of internet forums. OK, I'm a mod. I expect to hear the murmur of "of course he's going to say that" in the distance. However, I wasn't always a mod and it's the impressions I got of the community in my early days here that made me say "I'd be honoured" when I was asked to be one. I think you're all fab
