1.
Maybe you could try reassuring him/her that you love them lots.
It's the first thing I'd be doing if I had to cover someone's absence...let them know it's just a logistics issue.
 2.
Try white vinegar, buy a big bottle from your local supermarket; then fill a bowl with it and submerge the whole bridge. Leave it for a day, then remove, rinse and dry.
Plus the one. Every household should have some white vinegar - incredibly useful stuff. Disinfectant, scale remover, home-made shower spray...AND mild rust remover.
 3. Maybe asking their reasons for not wanting to be 'depped' might be a start.
 4.
Me.
I agree wholeheartedly.
 5. When the universe is mainly a tenuous soup of cold photons, Peavey bass amps will make up the majority of the remaining matter.
 6. I've come to realise over the last couple of years that jazz basses are just the best basses for me. Easy to play and a sound I like -I'm slowly in the process of selling anyting not jazz-shaped !! Always baffles me why people seem to prefer the bridge pickup to the neck, but each to their own...
 7. Very versatile delay, 6 presets and tap tempo - bargain ! GLWTS
 8.
I'm not talking about playing new songs and refining them, I mean jam sessions that just meander aimlessly along just so that some guitarist can do a 20 minute solo
Yeah, I think I got the wrong end of the stick.
 9. I'd have a word with Status - I'm sure they'd be able to let you know what could be done.
 10.
Note: use of the term 'clean' is not meant to imply any sort of acoustic engineering knowledge on the part of the author. Other acoustic engineers may offer more relevant advice
11.
I'm glad somebody else has said this, I was starting to think it was just me.
nope, me too... not a patch on this
 12. I'd say it depends on what you're jamming. Blues-based jams....yeah, OK, I'll do them, but it's not really my thing - they just seem like an excuse for people to solo. Something based round a decent chord structure, or a nice Can/Neu motorik beat are much more my cup of jam
 13. Sold Bren my Lakland Decade Skyline - an absolute pleasure to deal with. Top chap !
 14. Very good, well played and he looks like he's having blast The drums are a tad obtrusive.
 15. A friend of mine has an Epiphone Dot and it's plays very nicely - if the Studio's similar it should be a good-un. The only downside was that the pickups were a bit microphonic, so he did end up replacing them.
 16.
I had no idea what Penge was, and I've lived in both Tooting and Blackheath :-D
I have no idea where Penge, seen it on signs, but couldn't point to it on a map !
 17. Most people outside the SE of England would have trouble pronouncing 'Penge'.
 18.
...though I'm not sure I'd like to put much confidence in the Ukrainian postal service at the moment...
Really ? I've heard they're practically Rushin'...
 19.
Dodgy comedy translation aside, that's a really striking-looking and interestingly put together bass, imo. Most of these old Eastern Bloc things tend to look like agricultural folk-art, but I really like that. Jon.
I think the body's pretty cool too,
 20. I'd echo what's been said above. See what their idea of becoming a 'ska band' means and if you don't like it then call it a day. In the mean time, take some direction on what they want and see how it fits with both you and your bandmates. At the very least it'll be a good exercise in playing in a style - whatever happens to this band, you'll still have that knowledge. Generally I don't see anything wrong with someone giving me some ideas on what they would like to hear over a piece of music or song they've written - I don't presume that my ideas are the be all and end all of musical options.
 21.
...and not just because he looks very much like a slightly younger version of me but with less impressive dance moves .
