I'd say it depends on what you're jamming. Blues-based jams....yeah, OK, I'll do them, but it's not really my thing - they just seem like an excuse for people to solo. Something based round a decent chord structure, or a nice Can/Neu motorik beat are much more my cup of jam

Very good, well played and he looks like he's having blast The drums are a tad obtrusive.

A friend of mine has an Epiphone Dot and it's plays very nicely - if the Studio's similar it should be a good-un. The only downside was that the pickups were a bit microphonic, so he did end up replacing them.

I'd echo what's been said above. See what their idea of becoming a 'ska band' means and if you don't like it then call it a day. In the mean time, take some direction on what they want and see how it fits with both you and your bandmates. At the very least it'll be a good exercise in playing in a style - whatever happens to this band, you'll still have that knowledge. Generally I don't see anything wrong with someone giving me some ideas on what they would like to hear over a piece of music or song they've written - I don't presume that my ideas are the be all and end all of musical options.
