1. The matchsticks one was funnier the other way round.
2.
I am not keen on the sound from their amps, I sometimes have to use them in the rehearsal rooms - a bit too warm and wooly for my taste. I have an Ashdown ABM 4x10 cab, which I am pleased with. It's just personal preference though, I wouldn't say they're bad amps, just not agreeable to my ears.
Dude those Ashys at Musical Vision are knackered. You can't possibly compare all Ashdowns to those piles of gash. That Hartke head in room 4 blew again yesterday. Is that any reflection on your Hartke that gets cared for and tucked in at night? Nit. I'm soooooo bored at hearing that Ashdowns are woolly. I wish you could have heard my ABM piped through my Schroeder cab it was superb - not a sniff of sheep anywhere. A fairer description for Ashy cabs would be "old school" - after all they're basic Celestions (yours are Sica) with a bit of blue paint on them. They are never gonna be hi-fi - they are simply good at what they do but without airs and graces. People seem to cream themselves over other famously old school sounding gear but curl their lips up at "woolly" Ashdowns - I don't get it. I don't use Ashdown anymore (gear whoreage caught up with me) but I personally never had a bad word against them when I did. Rich.
3.
how much for the cab??
4 or 8 ohm?
4. Sorry to hear that. We headlined in Rockers a few times now and love the place (apart from the dressing room/broom closet ). It has always been packed out each time we played and the sound guy really knows his stuff too. The massive projector screen that slowly rises like a curtain as you start your set is a nice touch. What I like most about it is the punters as they're most appreciative and have specifically come along to hear some ba's oot rawk.
5. Graham (a man of obvious great taste) bought my Ashdown ABM combo. Super guy to deal and chat with. Cheers man. Rich.
6. Sorry bro. As you saw she's well and truly gone. I'll amend the title to avoid any further disappointments.
7. Before After Yes that's the same bass - more about it here.
8. Bought a Lollar for this. It cleared UK customs yesterday. Can't wait. :brow:
9.
If you are desperate for it I will go and have a look if you want.
I'd bet there's nothing to have a look at. It would be interesting to see if he's up for someone checking it out in the flesh.
10. Lots of different tones coming out of that thing.... but it ain't my cappa tea looks wise.
11. Who care how it sounds.... it's 375, blue and got it's own wheels.
12. ...The guitar was found in the loft... ZZzzzzzzzzzzzz!
13. I've often wondered why it goes ape like that sometimes.
14. Wow 11 in a row. Is that a record?
15. Don't sweat it JJ. If an item isn't flying out the door, then a slight low-ball is often a good starting point for a tasty haggle. IMO.
16.
MB1. ....Finbarr Saunders and his Double Entendres!.... "Last knob on the bottom, a little loose, just needs to be tightened"?.......Fnarr,Fnarr!
I was lost at growler.
17. Noiseless?
18. One of my bands play almost exclusively in drop C# with a few tunes nipped back up to Eb tuning. In the past I've found bass extenders very convenient but I've just noticed that I don't use any extenders any more. I had planned on putting one on my 'ray but it is so easy to tune in a blink of an eye that I haven't bothered and the same goes for my custom jazz that I use more for that band. Conclusion, extenders are very useful especially for basses that are hard to drop tune manually quickly. note : if you don't look after them and keep them lubricated (I use Vaseline) then the lever / plate area can wear out and your tuning will be inconsistent.
19. Both really depending upon the situation. The principal idea is to get a faithful Timmy C sound. It is just as unbelievable for guitars too btw.
20.
...There's also an 80's Guv'nor. I'm not 100% behind selling this, and i'm not sure How much i should ask for? Anyone?...
I recently managed to score a mint one off the bay for £60. I gather that 60-75 is the going rate for a good nick one. Although why you'd want to sell it is beyond me. They are the tits.
