1. Hi Mike. Thanks for the info I requested. Unfortunately these won't fit the bass I hoped they might (standard 4 string sized 5 string pups). Just to let the other guys know these are wonderful pups (like you didn't know) and back up for grabs again. Cheers. P.S. I hope it's ok, I've added the dimension info you linked me to. 2. While it's perhaps commendable for us to examine why this may have possibly happened, I can't find it in my self to excuse buying a bass (of any value) off a guy and royally mucking him about (let's not forget Gumtree) when you ain't got the funds to start with. I'm sorry for this less than benevolent attitude, I guess I'm still pissed that it was a fellow Scot that instigated this rubbish. I remember a rash of bogus sellers apparently coming from Orkney sullying our reputation north of the border with a broad sweep. It can be hard enough for us sometimes to trade with the community because of our geographical "handicap", we certainly don't need to make it any more difficult for ourselves.
3. Aw Steve that really bites. I hope this wins him a ban from the forum... there wouldn't be much point him coming back anyway. I totally hate that this dil is a Scot (presumably) I wish I could do something about this for you. Who knows I may find myself on the same bill as him someday.
4.
Anyone seen this? Looks a bit dubious to me, but I know little about them. The back plate looks wrong, there is no battery compartment, the bridge doesnt look quite right.... what do you lot think? Ebay link
The price has suddenly gone vooomp.
5. .... and besides Flea is a better trumpet player than all the above.
6. This would have been a good thread to link to had the "why buy an expencive bass" thread was still active.
7. LOL That reminds me of when I lived in Germany. There was a local window fitter who's sir name was W*nk. He had this old blue van and on the side of it he just had his sir name in huge white letters and his details on the back. It always made me chuckle whenever I saw "the W*NK van" trundling round town.
8. A helluva lot more info than your standard "uncle bass"(.... which is nice). Looks like genuine wear to me. Is it me or is the neck sitting too high in the pocket too?
9.
<snip> I'm really unsure about price for this - however I'm going to break with the current BC fashion of expecting people to guess, and boot my metaphorical price-ball into a park named £275. I'm willing to wrap it up & post it anywhere in the whole wide world. </snip>
edit : my original pic didn't work on here so I changed it.
10. £50? That seems to be what gets added onto the bass' price if it comes with one.
11. Wow quite a monumental moment. Subscribed Can I add that if anyone did just want to buy the pup, I have one spare.
12. I thought the saxophonist was going to go into "The Banana Splits" at the start of his solo.... I kinda wish he had. My vote goes to - bad sound guy/monitoring. It's like it feedsback when he hits that G on the D and that's about all we hear, so maybe he's struggling with that but there's a couple of bits (like right at the start or when the whole band kicks in at the end) where you can hear what he's playing, albeit indistinctly.
13.
He Da Man Innee?
Depends on if he was wearing a dress or not.
14. Er... P bass.
15. I used to love this track.... Still one of my all time fav basslines. Do they still play this?
16. Glasgow the day after my birthday. Woot!
17. It's hard to tell with that angle but the headstock looks kinda wrong for an OLP - too elongated. edit : a quick squint over the interweb turns up that OLPs tend to have the string tree in a direct line between the E and G tuner posts. This one has it almost parallel with the E post - annoyingly this is exactly like my 'ray's string tree
18. I think it's a trap.
19.
Also, one thing to consider: A £600 bass + a £300 refin does not necessarily end up being a £900 bass. It normally stays a £600 bass.
If it done expertly and in a desirable colour (Daphne Blue, Surf Green, Placid Blue etc.) then you will arguably increase it's value. You most likely won't get your hypothetical 300 back but you should return more than book price if offered to the right market because of it's uniqueness and desirability... this obviously excludes vintage and rare guitars which are in a pricing league of their own.
20. Nice work officer. Let's hope it turns up on here so we can all join in.
21. And a genuine pic. We all know what they look like but very few things sell on here without pics.
22. Good price. "Hot-cakes" and "gone" spring to mind.
23. PM'd (again LOL)
