1. The Germans love Brit bands. Try and get another non-base gig for a second night in the same area or somewhere on the road back. It would give you more of a flavour of the place. Call it a mini tour. Where is it btw? Presumably not Too far in if you are going to drive from Bristol in a day. I used to live in Coburg.
..... i'd do it for some beer and a blow job
Not a problem if it's Hamburg.
2. IMO it's too dear or rather "not economically viable". I think the mess around that nut as it is now couldn't really be considered mojo and would have to be sorted. The bodge behind the nut (looks like they've glued in a bit of pine dowel) wouldn't be too hard to rectify if you knew what you were doing and had a bit of maple to put back but the mess between the nut and fret 1 (best case scenario - finish was chipped and they removed it) would put me off. Chances are you'd never get that looking right again unless you're a mad arse like me and prepared to strip and redo a large portion of the neck and try to blend in to match the aged finish. As always Jon, I bow to your undeniable expert knowledge but I feel that the BIN price is only good had it not needed surgery. What do you think would be a good price for a near minty one?
3.
^ TECH WAR! ^
It's been fun. I don't get the half of it but I've been like .
4. At 22 quid it's worth a punt... especially if it is an ultra J (I sold one on here for double that). edit : Here's what mine looked like - note the wires.
5. Ha ha well done 15 quid. What do you plan on doing with it?
6. Hi man. If you are going to keep recycling this thread for different items could you remove your quote of my comment please as it could be a little misleading - I have no idea if this is a good price or not. Cheers.
7.
No - that had some very nasty water damage. This one looks pretty clean. And cracked.
Ah yes I remember now. It's funny how they all have this real heavy cracking.
8.
what's wrong with cables? i've never tripped over one.
Ever done an outdoor gig and it started to rain..... then touched your lips on the mic? I generally don't use one for regular gigs but I have a Sennheiser for just such occasions coz I never want to do that again. BigAlonBass OMFG
9.
very nice - let's see now...... if it were a chick it would be... er .. um... dunno .. Eva Longoria?
Spot on. Do my basses now.
10. At our rehearsal rooms there's an old Ashdown 1x15 combo and the only time I get a nice sound out of is is if I go active into the high gain and crank it. I never knew it wasn't doing it any harm though. I feel much better about it now. Thanks.
11. I wonder if it's the one we saw a few months back?
12. Man I was only joking!
13. Looking for any trades?
14.
What a missed opportunity for a coat-grabbing pun!
That's what I was going for. I guess it IS how you tell 'em then.
15. Nice kit bud I call dibs on the G&L if you come to sell it.

17. You might be able to chase up some info about relicing the chrome-ware here. Aye the tuners you have probably will be pretty much the same. PM'd Re Geddy's.
18. Steve I saw your wanted. I have a set of Hondo tuners that are earmarked for a possible relic job that would be perfect but they don't have that big vintage style base plate yours have. I was gonna tell you about them last night. They've been stripped and cleaned and are working perfect and have a some great natural pitting and patination. If you're interested I can put a pic up. I probably don't have matching bushings but I should be able to turn something up. I also have some genuine Fender vintage style ones (from a 90's Geddy) that might fit but they are pretty new looking - you could get into a bit of the old chemical patination.
19. Hammerite?
20.
gah, out of stock, how long did yours take to arrive?
I think they took somewhere between 7-10 days to come. Not bad.
21. It was these. The fact that they are pre-curved was a boost.
22.
What put you off?
Primarily probably the fact that it is a jazz (my jazz has a P neck) also I have a number of unfinished projects as it is - and let's face it we love doing it these jobs but they are a pain.
I think I'll follow you're advice regarding the bindings and the refret - where did you get your frets from?
I decided to play safe and bought some genuine (pre cut) Fender frets off evilbay. They had to come from the States but I felt the extra cost was justified to ensure some level of quality. I'm well chuffed with them too.
Still thinking about the repaint, it would be nice if the original dings and wear to the body could be retained.
Yeah maybe if it's too tatty but that natural P you did was/is a stunner.
23. Nice one. I saw this on the bay and considered it for a moment... just a moment mind. Putting the frets back in wouldn't normally be a problem but with that binding you are going to have to be careful - for less hassle I'd be tempted to just saw through it and treat it like a normal re-fret job. It wouldn't be too hard to block in that pup hole. And with position it's in you're probably going get it to blend in unnoticeable like. I look forward to seeing this finished. Good luck. P.S. if you're serious about trying second hand frets I think I could help out there.
24. I'll take it as long as you don't mind posting it before I give you the money. Sorry couldn't resist.
