1. Hmmm not sure. They look great under UV but without it they look a bit
 2.
Oh man, I only just noticed they want £400 for it as well.....
He's having a giraffe.
 3.
...So you take your amp out just to stop the fluff?
I certainly did. I look after my gear to the point of being OCD about it. I'm on my second LMII now which doesn't have a bag so it's not even an issue now.
...Down in to 4 ohms... 2 cabs. We were 35 mins in to the second set ( 2 x 45mins ) so right near the end..... I'm guessing after what the drummer said and the fact that it came back on it probably is a heat related problem.
I just needed to check as LMII's don't like 2ohms.
...So rarely play bon jovi esk stuff you might be right!

...Just hoping it ok for the gig today because thats a bit more high pressure!
I would be tempted to shelve it until you find out the problem. Can you get another amp for today? Can you clarify if you have a LMK or a LMII? If it is quite old then there might be a build up of dust and crap inside. Air gets sucked in past the heatsinks and is blown out the back but it also deposits sh*te on the heatsinks and as it builds up it effectively becomes a nice woolly jumper for your heatsinks. I get under the hood and hoover mine out regularly (yes OCD ) to make sure the heatsinks run efficiently.
 4. Hey what happened to the pics I posted yesterday?
 5. That's the first that I've personally heard of that happening with these. I gigged my 1st LMII in it's bag for a while with no problems other than making the top of my amp all fluffy with the velcro - so I stopped doing it. Maybe your amp just couldn't handle any more Bon Jovi. Silly question - You did have it in the bag the right way? - so the holes line up with the vents. Serious question - How many ohms was the cab you were putting into and how far into you set did it happen?
 6.
Is this really worth £200?
Someone thought it was.
 7.
How much fun am I having?!
Dunno why but...
 8.
...The SB2 says definitely no International and the response to a question re shipping the SB1 looks like he'd really prefer not to. Shame
I've applied to a few "no international" sellers before and haven't had a knock back yet. A few well chosen, friendly words in an email to let them know you're not George Agdgdgwngo and that you've bought gear from the States many times before without issue and they fold like a cheap hooker who got hit in the stomach by a fat guy with sores on his face. The big issue is import charges.
 9. Bought some cheap Jazz bits off Nick. Arrived pretty quickly. Smooth as. Cheers.
 10. Very perty.

 12.
+1 Nice bit of grain there, a job for Ou7shined i reckon!
I totally would do but I'm snowed under with about 5 or 6 other projects at the moment.... and the missus would hit the roof if another bass carcase appeared. If anyone is thinking about it, to do a proper job, I'd imagine that it might need a re-fret as it look like the fret markers have been rubbed back which means the fretboard needs re-lacquering - the simplest and cleanest thing to do would be to whip off the frets and do it. It's not a big job - just a bit scary.
 13.
Contemplating buying it, that body looks lovely.
Definitely salvageable.
 14. Keep it the same as your diagram. There are couple of different ways to wire a P that essentially do the same thing.
 15.
Overly cautious to a degree maybe, but I didn't shield the pickups themselves, or even do a star grounding job, just bog standard shielding I think.
Yeah I known but you've shielded earthing wires. Nice touch but pointless unless you were experiencing specific problems. I like the old KISS principal.
I've read a little about whether shielding adds capacitance and there seems to be a debate as to whether this is true. Who knows. Certainly has changed my sound. The orange drop is 0.047 pF, so will maybe look into a lesser value version.
It's worth a pop but LawrenceH does have a point. I think you've just installed a new wiring kit. Try the cap from your old setup.
When you say "yes earth that wire." I'm assuming you mean run a wire from the copper to a ground point such as the jack ground?
Everything needs to be earthed.
 16.
I have wondered this same thing. A quick google brings up this from Audere, see about a third of the way down: http://www.audereaudio.com/FAQ_PUNoise.htm Although they're talking about their pre-amp, in HiZ mode as far as I understand it's mimicking the loading of passive pups straight into an amp, so the same would apply. They refer to compensating, I don't know how they'd achieve this though - any ideas anyone?
That's a very interesting link. Cheers. What the link is saying is that in an overly cautious shielding job (which the you have carried out on the advice of someone here) you add approximately 90 pF of capacitance. To compensate for this you need to put in a cap with a value 90 pF less than that of the one installed. Yes earth that wire.
 17. If you are experiencing an altered sound it may be that you have a wire or something (perhaps a pickup terminal) inadvertently shorting back to earth somewhere. Your capacitor is in charge of tone. Does everything capacitor related look ok?
 18. It is just an expression. As you have diligently pointed out a joint may be "dry" from inception when it hasn't flowed properly for whatever reason but it may also gradually over time degrade and fail as a result of oxidation, corrosion, problems with the flux or through physical intervention in these circumstances the joint can euphemistically (and incorrectly as you pointed out ) be considered to have "dried out". I'm not sure that we really need to clarify that a piece of metal which has had heat applied to it in sufficient amounts so as to momentarily change it's state and used in an electrical circuit is physically wet or dry but thanks for the lesson in metallurgy... oh and for once again pointing out not at all in a patronising way the way I fail at being 100% correct when putting stuff into layman's terms for the guys getting to grips with the basics.
 19.
That has to be a shilled auction!!
Definitely.

 21. And for once an acceptable use of the word "rare" in the title.
 22.
Oh - OUt7shined... you shouldn't use speaker spikes on a wooden floor. It actually increases the acoustic couplling rather than lowers it which is the aim of spikes on other surfaces.
That makes sense but it's actually a tough laminate flooring and the spikes don't penetrate it. I whip them off and see if there's any difference though. Cheers.
 23.
tis def not..dont think he meant it to be...
Spot on. I used a jazz body because of it's ergonomics. It's not even a J width neck.
 24. He must mean bridge.
 25.
THIS is a jazz... 1962... fretless, J-Retro, DiMarzios...
Love this look btw.
