1. I suppose if you loved Ibanez basses and this worked for you - then yes, you would pay it! Not my cup of tea though - it appears to have one string too many, or is it just mine eyes deceiving me?
2. I'd love a 1987 Warwick Streamer!
3.
Even The Tube was far superior to Later. Just go out and but The tube DVD and the OGWT box set and see if its not true.
+1. I once saw a tune on The Tube by Wings, one where Paul McCartney played a great walking bassline on a Rickenbacker but could never find out what it was! Must buy the boxset soon!
4. I guess you could get a flightcase custom made for it - not a 19" rackmount one, but one that will hold your entire head in place. Flightcase Warehouse would be a good bet, or maybe try a local supplier who will build one to your specs? Hope this helps Danny
5. As per my post on the Wireless IEM sticky, I recently went for a set of Sennheiser G3 GB in ears, the EW300 model. Absolutely cracking! I'm currently receiving all the instruments as dry and uneffected from the PA's AUX send but I'm working on an idea to get effected instruments and vocals to my ears, involving an onstage mixer. Highly recommended though - the quality is just superb! I'm going next week to get moulds taken of my ears.
6.
I would do that... if I weren't on the wrong side of the Irish sea! Local stockists of bass equipment are few and far between!
You got that right! I'm currently torn between a Genz Streamliner and Little Mark III for my next amp, hope to have it by the start of next month so you're more than welcome to come and try whichever one I end up with (if you haven't purchased yourself by then!) Danny
7. Frank very kindly offered to lend me his Barefaced Compact and Markbass Little Mark II for a gig last weekend, which really helped me out as I would have been stuck otherwise! Lovely guy who couldn't have done enough to help me out! Would recommend him to anyone. Thanks a bunch Frank!
8. That USA Entwistle Spider looks smashing - I hope it plays as good as it looks though as I'd hate to see the lord's name used in vain!
9. Hi Frank - see my PM! Cheers Danny
10. Hi guys, I need to hire an amp for a gig this Saturday afternoon on the Stena HSS sailing to Stranraer. Does anywhere in Belfast hire out amplifiers? I've had mixed reports about Bairds and the fact I won't be able to return the amp to them on Sunday means they might charge me for three days hire! Any help greatly appreciated Danny
11. So now that Guitar Emporium has shut up shop - where do we get CIJ basses from? Always fancied one of their reissue Precisions. Danny
12. I would try Elixirs - granted, they're roundwounds, but very smooth and very bright for a long time. Been using them happily for years!
13. Beauty! Ibanez basses are really well made in my experience, I didn't even know this one had been released until this thread. Reminds me a little of the styling of an Italia bass, the Maranello I think it is? Retro as fook! Danny
14. If you get in touch with Gareth Underwood at Korg UK (Hartke's distributors), he should be able to sort what you need. Always been super helpful when I've needed anything and I think he's actually a member of this forum - maybe Hartke_UK? Danny
15. Can I be added to the list too? Cheers
16. Hey guys - I'd love to read this too. Can I be added to the chain please?
17. Plus the one! I'd love a read, if one of you can PM me when you're done with it we can arrange delivery!
18. Just bought a Sennheiser EW300 G3 GB system last week and it is absolutely fantastic! The GB version takes the 2012 switch off into account and I don't actually think a lot of places have stock of them yet. Cracking bit of kit tho! Now - to get some phones moulded!
19. My first 'grown up' bass was a Warwick Streamer Stage II, which I bought purely because Dirk Lance from Incubus used one! A couple of years later I sold it though, not just because I went off Incubus a bit but also because I had a hankering for a simpler, non-active bass which was just simply plug and play. So I went for a Jazz!
20.
Personally I'd use DW Guitars but a lot of people will say Bernie Goodfellow.
Thanks for the recommendation. Does Bernie repair and maintain non-GB instruments? Can't see anything on his website. Danny
21. A very sad loss. His playing on Shadows tracks such as Temptation and Fandango really inspired me. RIP.
22. Hey guys, I have a bit of work to do on a couple of my basses over the next month or so. My main axe needs the electrics looked at and possibly rewired, as well as a full set up and possibly a new nut and tuners installed. I also want a Jazz pickup installed in the bridge position of my fretless Precision bass as well as a full setup and perhaps get the board lacquered. Who can do this? Money is no object as long as they treat my babies well and don't mind courier-ing basses to Northern Ireland! Thanks in advance, Danny
23.
Just sticking this up for reference in case someone needs it in future. Industry standard is: AKG C451 for over-heads and hi-hat Sennheiser e603 for toms SM57 for snare top and bottom Beta 52 for bass (with an SM91 as well if you're really going all out) Alternatively if you're on a budget and buying new then I'd recommend: Behringer C2 for over-heads and hi-hat Thomann MB75 for toms and snare PG 52 for bass
Good post! Nice to know what the top guys are using.
24. As a matter of interest - what styles would you guys say the different DR breeds are most suited to? Been interested in the Hi Beams, Lo Riders and Sunbeams for some time now and may drop the bomb on a set, but not sure which to go for!
25. Are they available yet? They look peachy! Wonder what sort of cost they'll be though - I think if I found them on an American music website I may as well just change the dollar sign to a pound sign and save for that figure.
