1.
Did you get it anywhere local or ordered in??
I wish I could find one locally! I ordered it plus the carrybag from Thomann. You're more than welcome to come and try it out if you're thinking of buying one?
2. Just used my new Promethean at a gig tonight for the first time - my word! Who'd have thought that such a little box could produce a huge sound? Loads of bottom end and mids for onstage monitoring - we used a PA aswell. The lads in the band were commenting on how clean it sounded at high volumes and they never usually notice my playing at all! Great buy - already thinking about getting the extension cabinet.
3. Great bass, good to see local guys selling nice gear! Have you tried Fastfude Paul?
4. All three are cracking value or money amps, but I'd lean slightly towards the Ashdown personally, maybe followed by the Peavey. Hope this helps!
5. I don't think any of the aforementioned are household names - but then, neither was Jamerson and look at the impact on popular music that he had!
6. Just invested in one of these little fellas - ordered Friday evening and it was shipped Saturday morning so hopefully will have it this week! I'm really looking forward to receiving it, will hopefully get a chance to do a full review of it in a couple of weeks time once she's been put through the motions with gigs and rehearsals etc.
7. Keep her lit boy!
8. I almost had this the other day - saw a MM Cutlass II fretless for sale, and had just been watching videos of Tony Levin playing Sledgehammer! BAD IDEA! Luckily I caught myself on before shelling out for it but who knows in the near future eh? Have to consider a few other options first though like a sensible bassist would do.
9. Mine is stack knob configuration, I generally have the following balance: Everything Maxed - 50% of my playing (organic and natural sounding to my ears, nice brightness) Neck full with tone maxed, Bridge full with tone off - 30% (warm with just the right amount of definition) Neck Pickup solo'ed - 10% (almost Precision-like) Bridge pickup solo'ed - 10% (great for Paul Simon stuff and simulated fretless) Danny
10. I suppose if you loved Ibanez basses and this worked for you - then yes, you would pay it! Not my cup of tea though - it appears to have one string too many, or is it just mine eyes deceiving me?
11. I'd love a 1987 Warwick Streamer!
12.
Even The Tube was far superior to Later. Just go out and but The tube DVD and the OGWT box set and see if its not true.
+1. I once saw a tune on The Tube by Wings, one where Paul McCartney played a great walking bassline on a Rickenbacker but could never find out what it was! Must buy the boxset soon!
13. I guess you could get a flightcase custom made for it - not a 19" rackmount one, but one that will hold your entire head in place. Flightcase Warehouse would be a good bet, or maybe try a local supplier who will build one to your specs? Hope this helps Danny
14. As per my post on the Wireless IEM sticky, I recently went for a set of Sennheiser G3 GB in ears, the EW300 model. Absolutely cracking! I'm currently receiving all the instruments as dry and uneffected from the PA's AUX send but I'm working on an idea to get effected instruments and vocals to my ears, involving an onstage mixer. Highly recommended though - the quality is just superb! I'm going next week to get moulds taken of my ears.
15.
I would do that... if I weren't on the wrong side of the Irish sea! Local stockists of bass equipment are few and far between!
You got that right! I'm currently torn between a Genz Streamliner and Little Mark III for my next amp, hope to have it by the start of next month so you're more than welcome to come and try whichever one I end up with (if you haven't purchased yourself by then!) Danny
16. Frank very kindly offered to lend me his Barefaced Compact and Markbass Little Mark II for a gig last weekend, which really helped me out as I would have been stuck otherwise! Lovely guy who couldn't have done enough to help me out! Would recommend him to anyone. Thanks a bunch Frank!
17. That USA Entwistle Spider looks smashing - I hope it plays as good as it looks though as I'd hate to see the lord's name used in vain!
18. Hi Frank - see my PM! Cheers Danny
19. Hi guys, I need to hire an amp for a gig this Saturday afternoon on the Stena HSS sailing to Stranraer. Does anywhere in Belfast hire out amplifiers? I've had mixed reports about Bairds and the fact I won't be able to return the amp to them on Sunday means they might charge me for three days hire! Any help greatly appreciated Danny
20. So now that Guitar Emporium has shut up shop - where do we get CIJ basses from? Always fancied one of their reissue Precisions. Danny
21. I would try Elixirs - granted, they're roundwounds, but very smooth and very bright for a long time. Been using them happily for years!
22. Beauty! Ibanez basses are really well made in my experience, I didn't even know this one had been released until this thread. Reminds me a little of the styling of an Italia bass, the Maranello I think it is? Retro as fook! Danny
23. If you get in touch with Gareth Underwood at Korg UK (Hartke's distributors), he should be able to sort what you need. Always been super helpful when I've needed anything and I think he's actually a member of this forum - maybe Hartke_UK? Danny
24. Can I be added to the list too? Cheers
