After the first set of clips, I was sure the Stingray was number 2, but the second set of clips definitely makes me think number 1. It definitely sounds more bridge-y after being coil tapped (is that the correct phrase?) and the second clip sounds better IMO, therefore it has to be the Sandberg! Number 1 for me

Did a great gig tonight in a hotel called the Kilmorey Arms in the coastal town of Kilkeel in Northern Ireland. Wedding reception with crazy guests, a great buffet and an early finish - fantastic! That was the fourth of seven gigs in six days, tough going but we're now on the home straight! Used my Bravewood Jazz DI'd to the PA, an Ibanez Promethean for onstage monitoring and Sennheiser G3 In Ears.

I might be wrong, but I believe it's due to the fact that the soapbars are hum-cancelling, and maybe the P/J set up is still just two single coils running in parallel. Maybe that's the reason for the difference in tone?

Another user of the 1x10 here - gigging it 7 times this week! Have ordered the 1x10 extension cab and can't wait to use it in anger next week, going to order a couple of custom covers for the combo and cab also. Superb piece of kit!

He tells a story about one time John and him went into a bar for a drink, John ordered a couple of pints and a couple of whiskeys and overpaid the barman by about double what the round cost, telling him to 'keep the rest for the damage'. The barman was stumped but later in the evening Danny and John had a huge ruckus and wrecked the entire bar! I actually followed a recommendation on Basschat about a year ago now to listen to the Solid Air album - wish I could remember who it was so I could thank them, ever since I've been a huge John Martyn/Danny Thompson fan. Fantastic, moving stuff. My recommendations for a first time listener would be Small Hours, Discover The Lover, Hurt In Your Heart and Bless The Weather. John Giblin too, check out his fretless playing on the Grace and Danger album! Amazing!

I for one love the white Precision - I have a view to maybe investing in one soon to match my Jazz which has exactly the same colour combination (bar a tort guard which I think would make it look even better!) I really like these!

+1 on the Sennheiser. Our singer is using the new G3 mic, and a couple of us are using the G3 bodypack transmitters. Excellent pieces of kit!

RIP John. Fondly remembered on a daily basis when one of his basslines pops into my playlist frequently! One of my main inspirations.

When I worked full-time in an office, I used to get really bad RSI from sitting at a desk all day typing and using a mouse, which impacted on my playing that night a lot of the time. I recall one gig where I couldn't even grip a plectrum! Needless to say, I chose the better option in the end and went back to being a full-time musician

Never knew these amps existed! They look lovely! 400w of valve amplification though? I would have no conceivable situation to be able to use that but I WANT!!!

I think a lot of drummers actually prefer to have a stage monitor when listening to the click, instead of headphones, as they get a more general idea of what's going on and avoid feeling isolated. You have to remember that they're musicians too (apparently?) and not just timekeepers. I read a good article a few weeks ago about panning the click to the left and the music to the right - is this the way it's normally done?

There are a few websites on the net where you can download backing tracks for songs, on which you can select which instruments you want in and out of the track (like a tick box exercise). I play as part of a 3 piece band (drums, guitar/vox, bass/vox) and we are considering going down the backing track route for songs such as Rosanna. I have yet to look into pricing however!

Just used my new Promethean at a gig tonight for the first time - my word! Who'd have thought that such a little box could produce a huge sound? Loads of bottom end and mids for onstage monitoring - we used a PA aswell. The lads in the band were commenting on how clean it sounded at high volumes and they never usually notice my playing at all! Great buy - already thinking about getting the extension cabinet.

A good drummer.

All three are cracking value or money amps, but I'd lean slightly towards the Ashdown personally, maybe followed by the Peavey. Hope this helps!

I don't think any of the aforementioned are household names - but then, neither was Jamerson and look at the impact on popular music that he had!

Just invested in one of these little fellas - ordered Friday evening and it was shipped Saturday morning so hopefully will have it this week! I'm really looking forward to receiving it, will hopefully get a chance to do a full review of it in a couple of weeks time once she's been put through the motions with gigs and rehearsals etc.
