1.
And now that he's got that, he's found that the band needs a second guitarist the make the songs sound right again.
I suspected this too. To be honest, Simon Townshend was the glue that held the band together, both vocally and with his playing. Much stronger than his brother.
2. Loved it. Synthpop influences with lots of gnarly bass. Everything I love!
3. Expect an Embassy/Consulate visit where they grill you as if you're already the poster boy for Al Qaeda! Aside from that - apply WELL in advance of your trip (10-12 weeks) and don't be surprised if there are admin errors, particularly Stateside. The Visa interview also costs money - I think it is currently around £130. Also - I know it seems obvious, but definitely declare any convictions or mishaps if you are unfortunate enough to have them. This complicates the process, but if you don't mention it, they will find out anyway and then you'll be declined.
4. Always loved The Who but I feel they are maybe coming to the end of their natural life as a band. Very impressed by Pino's playing, but Daltrey and Townshend were lacking a bit IMO. I think if it wasn't for Simon Townshend's vocals to supplement the two main guys, it would have sounded terrible. Daltrey missed a couple of lines too and the whole band didn't seem sure of the arrangement of WGFA.
5. Hunting Girl - brilliant line! John Glascock is one of my favourite players.
6. I would have no problem performing it. I guess any criticism should be levied at the writers of the lyrics, not those who perform it. You have a right to freedom of expression, and there is no right for others not to be offended. I guess it's a personal choice.
7. Just decided tonight to string my fretless Fender P/J bass with Roto 66 rounds - first time ever without flats! Results pending
8. Lovely bass! Enjoy
9. Pure Simonon! I'm with you - scratches and dings don't bother me as long as it's made from good quality stuff and will make me sound like Jaco Pastorius or John Entwistle. Health to play man
10. Lovely bass, Michael! Would you be tempted to dress her up with a set of flats? EDIT - just read the thread further! Great minds!
11. Nice isolated line here too from the original master tape:
12.
After been fortunate to perform in from of some large audiences over the years, people have often asked if it's more scary. I don't really suffer from gig nerves anyway but find the bigger the crowd the easier it is.
100% agree. Would much rather play in front of thousands of people I don't know, than a small group of friends and family.
13.
So has anyone on here that owns one experianced any reliability issues with it? I have an amp that's about to give up the ghost and my budget at the moment is relatively limited and this looks, on paper like a good contender.
I have the 1001T (tube) model and love it - it has become my main gigging amp for my Stingray, suits it so much better than my other Ashdown. Only gigged it a handful of times though, so reserving judgement for a month or two.
14.
While the quality of fit and finish on the BF cabs has come on leaps and bounds since the old Generation 1 days, they are still not to everyone's taste.
I'm not sure I agree with this at all. Do you use BF cabs? As a user myself I have to say that my cab is as robust and slick as any other 'name' manufacturer.
15. I guess TKS is considered in the same bracket as the cabs you mentioned - although it is quite a bit cheaper. Personally, I use Barefaced and love it.
16. This does not help my GAS for a 2x12 BF! Already have the Big Baby II (Gen 3) and it's an amazing cab. Would love a bigger 4 ohm cab tho! Must resist...

18. Wonderful basses - played USA Fenders that don't feel or sound as good as the Squier CVs. They really got it right with these basses. I think they have even discontinued some of the models as they were impacting on MIM and USA Fender sales! Best of luck with the sale anyway - whoever buys this is getting a great bass
19.
That's beautiful Danny. The best colour in the range for me. I'm still hoping to come to hear your BB2 sometime. Frank.
You're welcome anytime Frank - will keep you posted with local gigs.. I'm considering adding another BF cab to the arsenal - maybe a Super Twin!
20. Hi all, Just got my new Squier CV Precision bass back from the shop where it's had some upgrades done! Won the bass for a song on eBay and decided to spruce it up a bit with the following parts: - Fender Custom Shop 1963 pickup - Cloth Wiring - CTS Pots - Switchcraft Jack - Real Celluloid Tort Scratchplate - Telecaster Knobs And here's the end result: A real beauty of a bass! Please note some filters have been used on the photo Plays like a dream, she's strung with TI Flatwounds for that vintage thud. I am considering putting a piece of foam under the strings at the bridge to go for a more Jamerson-esque tone. Have some blues gigs coming up and I can't wait to bring her out! To be honest, the Precision neck feels only marginally different in my hand to my other Squier CV Jazz - both very easy to play. Danny
21. Is it the Hal Leonard book? These interest me very much! What's the audio quality like on the backing tracks?
22. For me - it depends on the bass Recently I was in the market for a new Precision, so tried out a few Jamerson lines i.e. Bernadette, Darling Dear, For Once In My Life If I were buying a Fender Marcus signature I wouldn't try the above lines tho!
23.
And I thank the Lord for that.
Lol me too! Although I would be partial to my work with Joni Mitchell.
24. Just seen The Chicken appear on a setlist for the first time today. Gig is on 16th May. The lineup is bass/drums/lead/rhythm. My approach will be to just run with the changes and elaborate when there is a space in the music. I am not and will never be Jaco!
25. Just ordered one of these - very intrigued! I like the idea of the passive EQ, which contrasts with the active tonestack on the Streamliner. Review to follow as soon as I've had her out for a few gigs and rehearsals.
