1.
My post is locked so how did that happen and now I cant state the item is sold.

let me or one of the mod team know which post and we can help.
That'd be me, relating to this as ... Mackie SRM450's - Italian version ... As Mod for that section of the Marketplace, I see every post in there. When I see 'Sold' in the post, I close, whether or not it's in the title, as so many folks don't add this to the title. There are innumerable ads with 'On hold' as a last post, but no further sign or activity; in all probability, most are sold, but forgotten by the OP. The only thing that can go wrong is if the deal falls through for some reason, but that's rare, and we can then re-open the ad if asked. In the case here, if it's sold, and closed, there's no need to edit the title now. It's the 'open', but 'sold' ads that need the title editing. Once closed, leave it, unless something dramatic happens. Too quick, eh..? Sorry...
 2. Offers and trade propositions are to be made by Private Message (PM...) only, such posts in an ad are systematically deleted; the offending post here is no longer visible for this reason.. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
 3. I'm too far away, spent out for this month and already have 3 mixing consoles; but for all that, this would already be on its way to France. The 'spec' of these is about as complete as one could wish for; all bases are covered. An excellent powered desk (2 x 500w, I believe..?), very keenly priced, in my view. Good luck with the sale; have another 'bump'. (You're not coming to France any time soon, are you..? No..? I thought not, but had to ask... )
 4. And the winner is... Skol303..! Well done, sir. Even better than Bleat and Bilbo..? Must be good, then..! Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
 5.
I'm pretty much ok with 'normal' handwritten notation, it's all the crazy lines and curves etc on the graphic notation.
Do as they do; pencil and paper, I'd say. Just get a roll of ceiling wallpaper (is that a contradiction in terms..? ) and fill it up. In a century or so, those scrolls will be auctioned off for oodles of [insert your favourite predicted currency here ...].
 6. Some perspective on 'Beatlemania' ... Beatlemania: 'the screamers' and other tales of fandom ... ... and yes, I was there; it could have been any group of that era who rode that wave up to the Ed Sullivan Show. It was the Beatles; lucky for them. In the UK, at that time, there were a whole lot of similar, sometimes better, groups; they were the ones that drew the lucky straw. It's not the Beatles that changed the world, it was the music industry and television that created the 'hype' that, until then, had been impossible to do on such a scale. They happened to be in the right place at the right time. This takes nothing away from their individual and collective creations, but they themselves were unable to control what happened. It's no big deal that it was them or another. History is always written by the victors, anyway, so if it had been another group, we'd have folks 'worshipping' The Hollies, or The Pretty Things (they were both far more avant garde, too...). Them or another; at the time there was little in it. As for what happened after that fateful broadcast... It's almost irrelevant, as the die had already been cast. Just sayin'.
 7.
... Only my handwriting/drawing is awful....
You're in good company, then... Mozart ... Beethoven ... Chopin ... All skills can be honed; is it maybe time for you to hone your manuscript skills now..? It's very creative, being 'hands on'; far more than having a machine do it for you. Just sayin'.
 8.
OK, here are some more pictures of the insides http://imgur.com/a/nwa2J
That looks to be in very good, original, condition, with no bulging of the big caps in there. Of course, we can't see the preamp valves, but, judging just from those pics, I'd say it's a good'un. You're looking at a higher than average value, I'd say, but not 'museum' condition (no longer the original Bulgin socket, for instance, which is a Good Thing for players, but deters some collectors. In Euro terms, below 4 figures, but not by a huge amount, at a rough guess. I don't know if that's good news for you or your buddy; you'll have to discuss that between yourselves. Just a remark about usage for bass... The 'king' of bass amps, for me, are those with KT88 valves. These will maintain 'clean' tones until the concrete crumbles, given suitable (powerful...) cabs. It's very difficult to 'bend' those valves. That's fine if, like me, you go for 'clean' tones for bass..! If, however, a more 'gritty' sound is required, the EL34's (as in this amp...) can be pushed in distortion, but they won't sound like an Ampeg, nor even a Marshall. Splendid for guitar (Pete Townsend, anyone..?), but not the most 'typical' tone for bass. Some did use these, back then, but most bass players went for the 200w version, with either 6 x EL34's or 4 x KT88's. They do, however, take pedals very well, so, if any 'grit' is to come from there, the Hiwatt will pass it on in spades. Just sayin', hope this helps. Subject to completion, correction and/or contradiction from others.
 9.
Totally can't until the next one starts. So many different ideas just waiting to burst out! (I've been on quite a shopping spree with new sounds!)
Don't wait, then; get stuck in on playing around with those ideas. In between Challenge subjects, I'm often (health permitting... ) trying out stuff, either with new Vst's I've come across (thanks for the recent links, in passing... ) or with a riff or two on guitar or bass. I've a new 'toy' coming soon which will be crying out for experimentation; an 'AeroDrum' set-up, with which I may be able to play my Vst drums 'live' from my armchair..! So many things to do; so little time... Often, when a new picture is posted, I'm already warming up a session, so I just use it as a guide as to what to do with whatever palette I happen to be playing around with. Doesn't always work, of course..!
 10. An anecdote..? OK, I'll keep it short. I was drumming for a variety dance band in the mid '70s, here in France. Amongst other titles, we had a series of 'Stones' numbers to perform, including 'Satisfaction'. We start rehearsals, and it's not that hard to drum to. Nevertheless, the band leader stopped us all, and asked me to play 'like the record'. Always one to oblige, but I asked him if he was sure; had he really listened to the original drums..? Of course, he replied, so off we went, with me playing the Charlie Watts version as on the single. "Stop, stop, stop..!" cried out the boss. "What the blazes are you playing..?" (loosely translated from the original French, respecting the 'family' nature of the forum...). I had to get him to dig out and play the single to prove that the all-hands-and-feet-together incessant 'thunk-thunk-thunk' was, in fact, on the disk. Even the end-of-line tambourine 'chink-chink-chink' is played by another (Jagger..?). It was mutually agreed from then on that true-to-disk performance was not, necessarily, best, and my, more suitable, version stayed. Give it a keen listen and see if those drums strike you as worth keeping, or if there's scope for 'interpretation'. After all, it's only rock'n'roll, innit..?
 11. I still object to this notion that, because it's different to a supposed 'original', it's only down to laziness or bad musicianship. Maybe I've been lucky, but the musicians I've spent over half a century playing with, in very many formations, were far from lazy, and could play the 'original' if required. It was seldom, however, appropriate to do so, for many reasons, not least of which being the totally different band context (no horns, or no gospel choir, or no synths... Lots of reasons...). Maybe some of you play with other players, who can't be bothered, but I'd say that that's more the minority. It's never been my experience. We arrange the stuff we play so that it sounds as best as we can do it with the formation we have, and it works very well. Tchaikovsky did the same when performing his 1812, as did thousands of other conductors, band leaders, groups and solo artists. It's very much a part of being a musician to be able to successfully do so. It's not 'laziness' to interpret music, in my view.
 12.
The whole point of modern forum software is so people don't have to bother messing around with code - even the relatively simple IP Board tags. However it's always useful to be able to look "under the hood" and understand what is going on when things don't work as expected.
Indeed; I totally agree. I do that too, then close the bonnet and get on with whatever I was supposed to be doing..!
 13. Indolent so-and-so that I am, I copy the Imgur link, then paste that, as is, directly into the text box. Other OS may be different, of course, but the less I mess about with codes and stuff, the better I feel (done it for too many years, now... ). The icône to the left of the Imgur code field even does the copying for me, so it's all win.
 14.
42 ?
42 what, exactly..? Please be more explicit in your posts, or the topic could quickly become confusing and hard to follow, which could even incite some to no longer log in to the forum. Think carefully before posting; ensure that there is real added value in your comments, and brush your teeth before going to bed. (No, really; some folks, eh..? What an idiot..! ... What..? Oh, this mic is still 'live'..? Oh, sorry, I'll turn it off immedi.............)

 16.
In that case, any recommendations for alternative free quality photo hosting?
I use Imgur (it's free...); here's what it looks like (the correct link for Basschat is in green...) ... Hope this helps...
 17.
There's still time for a late surge !!!!!
Go Bilbo..!!!
 18.
I'd be glad to help, but a bit far away! Specifically what is it you're struggling with? Fingerings? Position shifts? Neil
Where is 'a bit far away', please..? Any chance of updating your profile with location info; 'twould help, perhaps..?
 19.
...to replace a broken one on my old Yamaha 5er...
Really no way to repair the broken one..? With a photo, maybe someone could offer an alternative solution..? Or maybe Yamaha could supply one as a spare part..? Just sayin'.
 20.
...There is no definite right or wrong...
I believe that the general rule is to go with whatever grip your tutor teaches, but that's only useful (if, indeed, true..!) if one has a tutor, of course..!
 21.
No, I'm not.
Hmm... Y'know, some days, I have my doubts...
