1. It's been mentioned above, but doesn't do full justice to his efforts; I'll repair that now. I've just received a hard-cover book bought from Aidan. It was wrapped and packed as though made of finest bone china; had it been, it would surely have arrived in pristine condition, too..! This fellow knows a thing or three about sending things through the post..! Chapeau bas, mon ami. An effortless transaction from a very nice bloke to deal with. I certainly wouldn't hesitate in future affairs, and wish all were of this calibre. Thanks a bunch, old fruit.
 2.
I've just informed my drummer.. Waiting a reply..
Make sure that he knows that these are not the modern, brash, brass '101's, but the original nickel-silver ones, from the very late '70s. Not the same musicality at all (although I suppose there may be some drummers deaf enough to not be troubled by raw brass... ). Entry-level, but decent-sounding (otherwise why would I want 'em at all..? ). Just sayin'.
 3.
... It's surprising how quickly humans adjust to stuff.
Humans, maybe, but bassists..?
 4. One should choose wisely, however. There are pianos with cr*p wood, too; some diseased, even. Not all, of course, but I spent a few years importing old pianos into France, and many were only fit for firewood, or less. Just sayin'.
 5.
I'm using an iPad and an apple browser. Does that explain the lack of name?
I don't know, as I use a PC..! Someone, however, will be able to answer more fully given this new information. A bit of patience; we're nearly there. I'll 'push' this up to Mod visibility...
 6. Almost a week has gone by, the clock is still ticking. If these are not wanted in the UK, I shall make good use of them. You still have an opportunity to snaffle these, but not for much longer. Mhahaha..!
 7.
... I put a 15" with 2x10s and it was quieter than the 15" and the 2x10 individually...
Is that not the typical symptom of the cabs being out of phase..? Was there another explanation, or none at all..?
 8.
Thanks for the guidance but I can find nowhere where the name appears ion the right.
It may help if you state which device, which OS, which browser you're using..? Sometimes (not always, but sometimes...) it makes a difference. Just sayin'.
 9.
... Let us know how you get on with that [s]take[/s] sake machine...
Fixed. He's going to brew up some rice tea and run a karaoke session.
 10.
It's interesting how others, including yourself, can't hear the difference as clearly as I did!...
No mystery at all, as far as I am concerned..! I'm so hard of hearing, my audio system is in Braille..! ...
 11. Felt or any other soft cloth, such as a hair ribbon..? Try your local haberdashery, see what they can show you. Corduroy..? Baize..? I don't think the actual grade of felt is the critical part. Try it out with a folded hanky, first..? I doubt that Ms King used anything rare or difficult; more probably whatever came first to hand. It's all in the fingers, anyway..!
 12. If that's the only factor, then I'd take the RCA route, mostly because it leaves the future open, as RCA gear is rife. Unless you can convince yourself that you can actually hear an improved (or less degraded..?) signal with the Cirrus Logic DAC over the Burrs-Brown, and that this difference is worth £100..? Only you can really call that, of course, but I wouldn't bet on my old ears picking up anything different between 'em. Not helping much, eh..?
 13. This is (roughly...) where the bridge should measure 43.2, hence the 'front' of the bridge at 41... Hope this helps; subject to completion, correction and/or contradiction from others.
 14.
...do I need to move my bridge saddles to 42cm?...
Yes, middle of the fret. From the photos, it looks as if the left edge of the bridge should be at 41 cms, I'd suggest.
 15.
Thanks for the excuse to post this latest blog of mine which has no relevance to the discussion at all, except that it is about Musical Snobbery,...
[sharedmedia=core:attachments:147744] Ha-ha..! He had a Bon Jovi cassette..!

 17.
What a load of old tosh!
+1
Some of them go tinty-ting-ting Dad, you're wrong
I'm sure I wrote 'Most', and not 'All'. You're right, though, some do go 'Tingty-Ting-Ting'.
off topic! but this thread leads me to wonder "do you need a large ego to be a good musician" ?
Not all musicians are 'front men' with egos. The world is a very large place.
 18.
BC has completely convinced me that the magic produced from your artists and they're impact on me in that 1964 time period meant a hell of a lot more to me than it did to some of you guys....
Fixed (Well, partly, just for completion... )
 19.
That's why you play numbers...
... which reminds me ... http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1448639
 20. Yes, the 4 x 10 cab and 2 x 10 cab will absorb the same power. At full whack, each 4 x 10 speaker (yes, I'm that old...) will be taking 150w/4 (37.5 each), the two in the 2 x 10 will each have 75w to dissipate. As each speaker is rated at 100w, in theory there should be no problem. That, however, is roughly where the maths runs out and the ears (and brain, listening...) come in. You'll hear if there's a problem.
 21.
... As for the set list...
Our chum will doubtless confirm or deny, but I don't think it's that hard to have a set consisting of blues/rock stuff in that ilk. I would imagine that these are not two-minute punk utterings, probably more like five to ten minutes. Red House..? Cocaine..? Sunshine Of Your Love..? Knockin' On Heaven's Door..? On a really hot night, Europa..? The American jazz scene has the whole Real Book to choose from as a repertoire; I'd imagine that these bar bands have an equivalent portfolio of '60s/'70s blues-rock numbers; we all know them. No-one has to 'agree' anything; the front man (or lady...) calls one out, and they play it. How hard can it be to put Voodoo Chile under one's belt..? Twenty numbers for two hours, rinse and repeat..? Swap 'em around a bit..? If someone has been playing this stuff for a couple of years, I can imagine that a hundred tunes are easily available and on tap. S'not the same as a 'democratic' pub band all eager to do different genres. As a drummer, I could play any of that stuff for two or three days and not repeat a title. Most of that drumming is basically 'Ting-Tingty-Ting', anyway. Maybe I'm wrong, though...
 22.
Wow, that is old. No-one has spoken Latin for, what, 1500 years?
Wow; I knew that Status Quo were old, but 1500 years..?
 23.
Which adjective does the "(allegedly)" belong to? Loathsome or pig-molesting?...
The position of the comma would indicate the latter.
 24.
I think Dad's puzzlement is perhaps more due to this thread being about Lady Gaga playing the role of Cilla Black (or not) rather than about Cilla Black.
Indeed. I suspect that the 'tongue in cheek' aspect of some of the posts has gone unnoticed. No qualms, myself, concerning the cheeky scouser; she was right up there with the Dusty Springfields of this world.
 25.
Finally! Nice to see something positive said about one of your own brilliant artists from the 60s. I've always been a fan. Blue
? ? ? Gerroff..!
