  1. Definitely in the 'no' camp over here (classless, unmusical, etc...) but I bloody love it when it's played on what it should be played on - trebley skinny guitars.
  2. We had some fisties break out in front of us a few years ago as we were lining up to play the second half. Singist (who is a long time primary teacher) utterly nonchalantly grabs his mic, and with appropriate over-the-top-of-the-specs stare and expertly wielded forefinger..."Right, you two, sit down." Halfway through the first verse I was trying not to overtly snigger, as it was dawning on them that they didn't quite know why or how they were sat down.
  3. As to pub gigs - there's no real reward in it other than diesel and an illicit Tunnocks biccy on the way home. 90% of them are a logistical nightmare, usually no car park or load-ins through 18 inch doors, added to the fact that drummers can't seem to grasp the concept of their mountain of cases taking up space you could otherwise be standing in. An indifferent crowd will make you question your very sanity regarding all of the above. A good crowd that wants to get involved will make you beg for the next one.
  4. I've seen a guitarist spend that long 'setting up' a f****** distortion pedal!
  5. Some stuff from the vaults (well, my car, anyway!) Were this lot just too obvious?
  6. My sympathies - I've had extensor tendon grafts in my right hand 3rd finger from not too dissimilar an injury. Follow the advice of your physios (regarding the prevention of internal scarring) to the absolute extreme and you'll be as you were save a sexy conversation piece on the back of your hand.
  7. No idea, but George Lynch is behind the curtain of this, if that's of any help.
  8. The lead guitarist's a robot samurai from the future - what's not to like?
  9. Using a hand drill and a good bit would be fine, as long as you've something to hold them in while you do it.
  10. One big ole 35" thru-neck fiver up for grabs. As you can see from the pics she's no featherweight, but sits perfectly on the strap or sat down. I have no clue as to what all the types of woods are that it's made of, there are so many different specs it just gets confusing. This one is the older dual truss-rod model, which with such a slim (front to back) neck is properly handy when swapping string types. This one has the Bartolini NTMB pre-amp - there's another variant of the model with a different system that doesn't seem to get much love, but I've never tried one to see what the difference is. I had a machine head break a couple of years ago, but couldn't find any smoky/black chrome replacements so I put a set of chrome ones on. That and the flatwounds are the only deviations from standard trim. Post is included given the virocalypse. *Edit - will post more pics in due course, it seems I've a memory card problem!* *Another edit - specs helpfully provided below.*
  11. Just picked up an EUB, the fact that he's deserving of no less than 2 whole threads of glowing feedback threads speaks volumes! An absolute pleasure.
  12. ...and the award for Super Speedy Reply Of The Year goes to... As long as it can handle 2 amp, there's no reason why not.
  13. Maybe it's because people can be rather unkind to any famous bassists that are daft enough to come on here. I have multiple accounts as I can't have anyone discovering that I'm really Drongo Notorious, the single-note king of neo Emo-billy Zydeco funk. BUGGER!!!
  14. Angi Songbird Redemption Song May You Never Kathy's Song Not to mention a million 80s synthy hits.
  15. Side 1 of Tubular Bells, not that I've learnt it.
  16. As utterly moronic as this might sound - try a dab of T-Cut. I haven't had cause to use it on a DB, but it toned a sticker mark right down on a natural-finished (solid) geetar I worked on.
  17. This all the way - although the last time we had one of these had a redeeming moment. 1 a.m, just finished, outside trying to de-sweatify myself for 5 mins. Very drunk punter: Hey, mate, did...was yer in there?...did yer see that band what were on? Dead good they were... Female half of couple walking past: He's the one on the left, dumbass!
  18. I was sat here thinking 'I wonder what it sounds like plugged in'...then he unplugged it! This is supposed to make me want one, is it?
  19. My advice to your pal would be to book a gig or 2 in what remains of this year and force the issue, that'll shift 'em!
  20. It's probably because you've set them up in a river. Doesn't look good for your warranty.
  21. That's a pleasant surprise, I thought I'd have to get some expensive gadgetry. Do you happen to know if I can just jump to the newest software version, or do I have to supercede them one by one from what ever it's running on?
  22. As far as I'm aware, when the pot's fully open it has no effect on the sound, they only remove treble rather than add it.
