1.
... you can get ... laid on top of a wardrobe ...
Now there's something I've never attempted
2. bookmarked for practice purposes... thanks chaypup
3. :looks at queue: :ambles off looking disappointed:
4. I'm not bidding because I've got one... (pink, as it happens).
5.
And that attitude is the problem. How are current or future luthiers who do do this sort of thing supposed to learn if no one does anything?
This. [Disclaimer: Never bought a custom anything...]
6. Damn, that is a disgusting colour. I love it...
7. Agree on £50. I might go a bit higher, but I'm stupid like that.
8. I bought Andy's Merlin jazz pup. Nice guy, quick turnround, good comms. Thanks Andy
9. Cool.
10.
Sublime. My "go to" piece of music for the last 30 years, along with (strangely enough) the "Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis" by Vaughan Williams
And that was the music Dad wanted for his funeral. Strangely enough.
11. Thank you all, all input welcome
12. I really liked all of that. After the first minute of Harmonium Bloke I started thinking "this would go well on hammer dulcimer", and then the kantele lady reinforced that. The Mandolin Men were fine too. And, now I know what the Clangers' Music Boat is
13. I've been a moderator (elsewhere). I appreciate the time and effort it takes. Thanks guys!
14. Laney BC120 combo, £110. No-name CAR Jazz, £80 from Mr Foxen. Not much in the way of gigs though...
15. Also, I didn't know Julian Assange was so talented.
16. I love this. My dad's favourite music ever, as well.
17. hi Could you tell me what diameter the strap pins are, please? thanks
18. SGC Nanyo Bass Collection, definitely. Peavey Fury 2, a ridiculously skinny neck. OLP MM2, neck is too bulky for my taste but they play well and sound nice. I gave a Vintage MM clone (secondhand, £80) to our ex-drummer for his 18th. Looks good, plays well, sounds butch
19.
I'm guessing that the OP means there's some sort of audible tick or noise burst that happems a few times a second. As you say 5Hz itself would be inaudible ( though possibly 'feelable' with the subbest of sub bass set ups :-)
Exactly.
Anyway - yes, string / bridge earthing issue makes sense. Basically you are the source of the interference - as when you touch the lead itself it happens. With 'earthed' strings / bridge you're 'earthing' yourself and eliminating ( to a large extent - nothing is perfect ) the noise but if the bass earthing is faulty then you aren't doing that and the strings and your body are a source of noise that can be picked up by the bass pickups and wiring / electronics. The detail depends on the specific pickup and shielding. So, test for continuity between strings and 'earth' pin of the amp mains connector. If it doesn't indicate continuity then that's very probably the issue. If it does indicate continuity then measure the actual resistance in Ohms. See what he meter reads when leads touched together. Anything more than half a ohm above that is suspect. Let us know how you get on.
Many thanks. I will do that.
20.
Cool. Show the pix. That's the rule.
This
