  1. There might be a few more of that sort of thing kicking around than usual; the Great Dorset Steam Fair isn't happening this year (normally in late August), so people who'd normally try to sell there will be looking for alternatives.
  2. Thanks. I have a fretless neck with its name on it
  3. Rats... should have nabbed it yesterday. Bah, humbug. :sulks, in B flat:
  4. Thanks. I thought I'd read it properly, but evidently not.
  5. Okay, I had to ask...... could it be played arco? 😇
  6. I use black tape with Tippex dots. The tape came from Amazon and is reasonably robust at least on my bass guitars (defrets, so the existing dots are in silly places). Unfortunately the Amazon search is so rubbish that I can't find it even though I already bought some and they are keen to sell repeat orders.
  7. Do we know what brand it started life under?
  8. Pics not visible to me - Firefox on Ubuntu Linux desktop.
  9. Mmm. I have too many basses already... Are there dead spots? .
  10. I bought a bass from Michael. All as advertised, well packed, good communication. I'd be pleased to deal with him again. Thanks Michael
  11. You might find flats or tapes too slippery to start with - half-rounds might be easier to start with.
  12. Ahhh... the slippery slope claims another victim Welcome aboard!
  13. Hello Matt!
  14. It looks like a four-eyed camel
  15. Not something I've heard of before. Condition is interesting, but I quite like the way it's been patched up. Antoria "Twin Caster" semi-acoustic, 1966. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134818165857?hash=item1f63c9f461:g:viUAAOSwtytlW9WJ
  16. Would it have to be earthed (or more likely insulated) specially?
  17. I bought one of Carl's previous defrets, and it's thoroughly nice and well done.
  18. I bought strings from AJ. All went well and I would be pleased to deal with him again. Thanks AJ! Mike
  19. These are nice little practice amps and sound surprisingly good, and Lawrie is a good chap to deal with
  20. Excellent idea. Another thread to follow
  21. Something a bit less vertebrate than that, I reckon. Quite slug-like.
  22. Interesting. He's obviously taken some pains to get the ergonomics he likes.
  23. Thanks Mick, I may go and have a look.
  24. It occurs to me that some Japanese bassists might be ... slightly odd. I suppose it would at least teach you to play it without looking at it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295988147599?hash=item44ea44b58f:g:oZQAAOSwNEFlK3aJ
  25. Starting too late. Not nabbing my dad's DB from his wife after he died.
