  1. I bought a sixer bridge from Michael. Very quick, sensible packing. This is the second time I've dealt with him and I'd be pleased to trade again. Cheers!
  2. Mike sold me a Harley Benton fretless. A nice simple prompt transaction. I'd be pleased to deal with him again. Thanks Mike.
  3. Somebody saw the word "axe" used to describe a guitar, and took it way too literally.
  4. Thanks John. Unfortunately I can't play mandolin; I was wondering about it as a gift for my bandmate - he's just retired (so I'd have an excuse :) ) and his existing mandolin is a nasty piece of tat which won't stay in tune (and has no pickup so has to be recorded with a microphone). As usual I'm trying to solve my problems by spending money on them
  5. Ah OK. That makes sense given the date; LEDs were still a bit flaky then, IIRC.
  6. Tell me you know nothing about bass guitarists without telling me you know nothing about bass guitarists... (Spoiler: It's not colossally interesting.) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135236039699?itmmeta=01J79Z326DXM6CVNXRCB3G16TH&hash=item1f7cb23413:g:GQYAAOSweFBm3MKx&amdata=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Mxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29hG9Q9ZofH%2Bmrfz%2FzVi2dRN4EmqHlzs8NY%2BFNNTxMf2dJu66MBZ%2BpBfo%2FMrB8zKS7My5E1KjgSZtnHsqkCftdY2H4trbife6L9yl%2FnU5j8JaFvzVQ%2B5X4IQoBpK5iSP0uHGGSh5jWlTqPWIHjFp%2FgjHoVt0w5sW4VCU66pzRP7jXYTzbgMlst9dEBWxd7hEJjZ8BGzxPOlOjDfJVA0k5iniup68WIyET9XLgJR7%2BdoGzVj%2Fft9bHfpVjh7wvl8RVk7ofzqHRp9X4HvG5bM%2BS%2Bp5|tkp%3ABk9SR6SjjL-6ZA
  7. I don't know about the reliability of the preamps, but the battery covers on the active ones seem to fall off if you look at the things cross-eyed... obviously not an issue on this one. GLWYS!
  8. "Rare", it says... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235727598454?itmmeta=01J6WFHEKWR0D2E68XEV9HEJSM&hash=item36e275b376:g:vHEAAOSwDXZm10Xl&amdata=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4Mxmj%2BiGvOveHXEBClPb29jbBwRXl%2B14IxHiOZLU85SqGzCYIkxSxYcsxhzxmii2pB3bAdOyhWyx3HzN4wN9gBgUtPc9vJpYz4AyRKMfKZfDhjiXCqcsegj28%2FBp73FrreyR00hdJf1ooiIiiQzvow0vN%2Fgrp5ll7qr7cyetJwWuJY4ooFaeFVFey0Z54VGAmacXnpYaGAbSkFN674iQ%2BwCPZohoG4Onx7wCcWI3N8BYTcCFoHN2hQdKghvZJPvZOu%2BeMNpNgpXtnYMM7FJ7xCmpYB8cnEKqWGQZ%2BoWhOPST|tkp%3ABk9SR4DqxY-3ZA
  9. Nice. I wish I had the space (and the talent!). GLWTS!
  10. I bought a neck from Neil. Well described, good comms, thoughtfully packaged, quick delivery. I'd be happy to deal with Neil again. Thanks Neil
  11. Fretted, fortunately for me... GLWYS!
  12. 'Silver Machine'. (Caveat: I know no Hawkwind after PXR5.)
  13. But you'd have a spare set afterwards
  14. Less experienced, as well. If you don't know what to look for, then this sort of stuff does at least give you a vague idea that people think it might be important.
  15. Looks very nice, I like that warm wood. It would be useful to see how high the action is - any chance of a photo, please?
  16. That's a rather odd beast. Aluminium nut, by the look of it. A screw in the middle of the headstock, presumably for a string tree? I'd guess that truss rod access is via the aluminium plate at the bridge end of the neck, but not clear. The body seems to be a refin, if the unrepaired scars under the paint are anything to go by, which makes me wonder if it's a home-carved headstock.
  17. I'm not likely to grab a guitar, and my hands aren't getting any more flexible. Keyboard or cello would be my choice.
  18. An American-made bass with good tone and high-quality parts, for under £200. I'm surprised it's still here.
  19. Nice!
  20. Broken headstock, tidied up.
  21. Gavin sold me some strings, which arrived promptly in sensible packaging. I'd be pleased to deal with him again. Thanks Gavin!
